In a kingdom covered in snow, in a kingdom where the snow never melts and never goes away, there lives a prince who keeps watch over his kingdom and resolves to maintain peace. When the prince learns that his family’s history isn’t as spotless as he had been told, he endeavors to fix what his family had done wrong and to ensure the continual peace of his kingdom. This will lead the prince to battling the phantoms that prowl the lands, to saving a princess, and to realizing the secrets of his family and his kingdom.

The entire game takes place in Sabine Kingdom and the island that it rests on. The island is constantly shrouded in snow, but for some reason, no one ever feels cold. Plants continue to grow despite the snow, so there is no danger of a food shortage. There has never been a need to question this, so the residents of Sabine Kingdom are blissfully unaware.

Though of course, our prince--Snowe--is not blissfully unaware any longer. A dream leads him to combing through his parents' library and learning that something is amiss. What is our prince to do except try and fix what he had found? He can't just sit back and pretend like he hadn't read about a girl being locked in a tall tower where she may one day die from flames that threaten to burn her. No, he can't do that at all.

Did you like SSP and wanted more? Do you like reading??

Because of reasons, I've finally uploaded the sequel web novel, Ephemeral Prince to itch.io as an EPUB and a PDF. So, if you wanted to ever read Ephemeral Prince on your phone and not connected to the internet, now you can!

I figured this warrented a blog post, so I hope those who liked the game and liked the sequel will enjoy Ephemeral Prince on the go.

Maybe one day I'll make a game again, but today is not that day! Enjoy some old ass writing because it's like 10 years old! (which means SSP is older ugh)

@omnimatt: I'm glad you're liking the game in any case. :) I'll be double checking the downloads atm cause I have no idea why it would have done something weird (though the first link assumes you have the RTP and thus doesn't have a .dll that comes with the RTP I think...) but in any case, glad you're enjoying the game!
The king and queen are hard... You don't want people to beat this game easily do you? ^^ maybe if i can find some more anti-frazzle items I will be ok.

There are two anti-frazzle items you can find in the castle. I suggest giving them to Relenia and Snowe (Astra doesn't need them and well, Hiante can take a beating).
Right after you told me that I walked straight up to the secret which lead to the lightning charm. Now I have two. And it also lead me to ice pierce strike II for Relenia. And by the way I found myself having alot of fun playing this. I know you have probably gotten plenty of compliments as your game is on the featured list but I love your creativity and story telling.

I really appreciate the compliment, omnimatt! *hugs*
Just finished this game. Story, atmosphere, characters, graphics, sound (...) - everything fits together so well!
And I really appreciated the challenging difficulty at times.
Kudos!

*huggles greeich* Thank you! :)
Definitely an awesome game! Actually one of the best ones that I have played in a very long time!

I enjoyed the graphics, the artwork and the "little details" like shining up the dishes. The secret rooms were great - some were subtle other were not. The more I played, the more I got into the story.

My total game play was about 15 hours but I did level up a bit before fighting the boss in the western tower. I had a rough time...took me at least 10 tries and that was with level 25!! I honestly felt that that was the hardest boss to take down compared to the last two (including the optional boss)! I think after the western tower boss figured out my strategies so that the other bosses were a bit easier.

Thanks so much for creating an awesome story and incredibly fun game. I look forward to playing it again!

@woodlandpearl: Aww, you're too sweet! Maybe the Western Tower boss gave you trouble because you were missing Snowe? :P But I'm glad you were able to brave through it all and finish. *hugs* I'm very glad you enjoyed it!
Ok, forgive me for asking this question if it's a noob question but in all of these rpgs when I try to dash using shift, I lose all control over my character's direction and it's the most annoying thing ever. And by the way I'm still working on this game lv. 27 and I'm in the western tower.

Would it be your computer's problem? I haven't had this problem and you're the first to mention it.
It is definitely my computer/keyboard settings as it happens to me on all the rpgs I download off of here.

Well, that sucks. Sorry you gotta deal with that. :(
How many Magic Helper ingredients are there? I managed to find the ones needed to unlock Tart Ether and Nectar Tonic.

There are three. One was in the floating castle grounds in one of the flower boxes. That one would have gotten you a suped up tincture.
That's a shame, though I managed to get a lot of those tinctures as random drops.
I really like the way the final battle played out, with the NPCs lending their support. That really kept me pumped while whittling down the boss's stupendously high HP.
By the way, what are the differences betwen 2.0 and 2.1? If I can ask. They're not listed anywhere, it'd be nice to know what your fix notes are.

I think that was mainly some really odd grammar fixes. 2.0 had the RGSS2.exe crashing error fixed, so 2.1 was just a few little things I kept forgetting.

I also went back and re-read the comments and stuff, something about some things in the ending happening that weren't supposed to?

Oh yeah that's fixed too. A wrong event got started so you saw the beginning of the bad ending (not the art) before it let you get to the good ending. I think it also prevented you from talking with the people on the boat which is part of the good ending.

Sorry I didn't make a list of stuff that was fixed, haha. I'm new at this.
