In a kingdom covered in snow, in a kingdom where the snow never melts and never goes away, there lives a prince who keeps watch over his kingdom and resolves to maintain peace. When the prince learns that his family’s history isn’t as spotless as he had been told, he endeavors to fix what his family had done wrong and to ensure the continual peace of his kingdom. This will lead the prince to battling the phantoms that prowl the lands, to saving a princess, and to realizing the secrets of his family and his kingdom.

The entire game takes place in Sabine Kingdom and the island that it rests on. The island is constantly shrouded in snow, but for some reason, no one ever feels cold. Plants continue to grow despite the snow, so there is no danger of a food shortage. There has never been a need to question this, so the residents of Sabine Kingdom are blissfully unaware.

Though of course, our prince--Snowe--is not blissfully unaware any longer. A dream leads him to combing through his parents' library and learning that something is amiss. What is our prince to do except try and fix what he had found? He can't just sit back and pretend like he hadn't read about a girl being locked in a tall tower where she may one day die from flames that threaten to burn her. No, he can't do that at all.

Did you like SSP and wanted more? Do you like reading??

Because of reasons, I've finally uploaded the sequel web novel, Ephemeral Prince to itch.io as an EPUB and a PDF. So, if you wanted to ever read Ephemeral Prince on your phone and not connected to the internet, now you can!

I figured this warrented a blog post, so I hope those who liked the game and liked the sequel will enjoy Ephemeral Prince on the go.

Maybe one day I'll make a game again, but today is not that day! Enjoy some old ass writing because it's like 10 years old! (which means SSP is older ugh)

She should have the Lightning Charm on unless you want her to get hit with a lightning spell and give the boss an extra turn to smack someone around.

Edit: Oh shoot, I was mistaken about the Red Ribbon. It doesn't protect against statuses (I must have mis-remembered), it's just the Green Ribbon that does. The Red Ribbon just brings up all your stats!
I just downloaded and played this. It's quite fun.

(... I HAVE TO REDO THE ENTIRE FIRST TWO CHAPTERS. DERN PHANTOMS.)
I know countless people have said this but:

More like Misao Stealing Prince.

Okay, we can all stop making that joke now, it's bound to have gotten on Ronove nerves.
@Ronove
Oh, does the Green Ribbon not protect against Frazzle?
Sorry about the Red Ribbon thing, mistaken it as well due to not playing it for so long. :P

@Ven01273:
The Green Ribbon does, but Relenia has pretty good stats considering especially compared to Snowe (so she doesn't need the stat boosts as much). In addition, Snowe is your primary healer! You don't want him to be stuck as either frazzled or frozen (Relenia is protected from frozen by default but Snowe is liable to get frazzled or frozen as he has no protect against either).

Granted, if you get the Snowman's Mittens, Snowe's protected against being Frozen (so he and Relenia are on a level playing field in that regard), but the Green Ribbon also cuts MP cost by half. For me at least, that means the accessory goes on a healer. But, if you liked it on Relenia, that's cool too! :D We all have our own different play styles, after all.

Playing this game was such a wonderful experience. Looking forward to your future projects!

Aww, you're so sweet! Thank you very much for playing! I'm glad you enjoyed it.
Man, you ruined the game. All the bosses are ridiculously strong. Even some monsters inflict a lot of status just by hitting you. I dislike easy ones, but you guys really messed up the gameplay with the bosses. Really annoying. It seems you don't want the game to be over (lost many times to the Original King, and had trouble beating almost every boss). Good history and use of the maker, but horrible gameplay in the fight.

^ If you think this game was hard, you'd have never survived the "Nintendo Hard" days. I like the fact that this game requires you to think during battle, not just spam "Attack", or your strongest tech. It's also important to remember that enemies are not immune to status effects, not even the bosses. That tidbit would've made battle much more bearable, had you used it to your advantage.

Yes, i did survive the nintendo hard days and that's the reason why i don't like the easy ones. But your enemies are waaaaaaaay stronger than you. At the beggining i liked that, 'cause i thought your party would grow strong enough to stand a good fight, but it's not. Even with the best weapon and itens the enemies overwhelm your efforts, making you battle them over and over, until, by chance, he uses an attack less effective on you, so you can make it count! That's not 'thinking a lot'.
I don't understand all the comments about this game being hard. Learn to use the systems in place (weakness, status effects) and you can defeat every boss easily. When I played through it the only difficult part was hoping the game didn't crash!

There is a walkthrough available on Star Stealing Prince's Word Press site.
If it's that hard for you, either use the walkthrough, or grind a bit until you're ready.

Have you utilized the two items that decrease stats (the trumpet and the mask) properly? Have you tried inflicting status effects on the enemies?

Trust me, I agree that it's difficult early in the game. But once you progress on, it gets easier, not really because the bosses gets easier, but because you get better at the game.

If all else fails, there's always the video walkthrough you can refer to under the "Media" section.

Also, just because you think it's too hard doesn't mean gameplay is horrible.

Man, you ruined the game.

I don't really care you think the game is too hard. I have loads of people tell me it's just right so not much I'm going to change now. What I do have a major issue with in your post is what I quoted above.

How the hell did I ruin my own game? I made a game I would want to play. I made it the difficulty I would appreciate, I gave the game the plot twists I would appreciate, I made the game so I would play it. I didn't make the game so loads and loads of people on the internet would play it and stroke my ego. If I had put the game on the internet and it was largely ignored, I would have been fine with it because in the end, I made the game for myself not anyone else. Sure, I've gone back and tweaked a few things to fix some things that were unfair, but largely, the game is how it is because it is a game I would have eaten up if I was a teenager and was still devouring RPG Maker games. I would not have had an issue with your post had you not said I ruined my own game.

I did not ruin my game. I made the game I would have played. If you think that's ruining the game, you can click the back button on your browser, delete the game from your computer, and play another game.

Thank you for your interest regardless.
^That^

God forbid someone makes a game they want to play with the difficulty they want it to have.

I mean, sure, there are games where it's broken during battles, but SSP was actually pretty fair in that it gave you the items and skills you need to go up against a boss. Bosses don't have a gazillion life points and spam their crowd control move every turn, no. They have their own quirks and ways to get past them. You just have to learn the how and employ it to make it through.

Thanks for answering. Yes, i did. In fact all the bosses fights are almost impossible if you don't use them.

Don't get me wrong, when i say you ruined the game is because i really liked your work, and disagreed with you on the boss. I wouldn't look for a forum just to complain about your job(i know how hard it is to make a long RPG in the maker). I got attached to the game, but it's bosseses are annoying. Everything runs smoothly and linear until a boss apear. All this "Child's Cornet" and "Scary mask" thing became repetitive and there's no winning without them anymore.

I keep on playing and i'm at the prince's dream on my way to kill the demon (lvl 30, have all the best weapon for every character). I wouldn't come this far if i didn't like the game. But it's my sincere opinion... your hands applying the bosses stats was too hard, and think ruined the smoothness of it all. I know i was too harsh with you, but you should deal with it, since it's a game and is open for anyone who is maker fan to download.

Thanks for answering me though, and sorry if i made you upset, i didn't mean.
Just stop dude. You made an exceedingly stupid statement and trying to defend it will only make it worse.

The game is challenging, yes, but a strategy of buffs, debuffs and status effects are enough for all the bosses. In the playthrough I'm doing for my LP, the old skeleton in the catacombs (a particularly notorious fight) got his ass kicked on my first try thanks to Sleep, Poison, the Scary Mask/Child's Cornet and lots of healing. It's fine if the challenge of the battles was more than you were hoping to deal with, but using the word "ruined," as if the game crashes every time a boss fight starts, is epic fail.

And by the way, people DO have the right to defend their work from criticism! People's complaints aren't mandates to be obeyed unconditionally, just suggestions to be accepted or rejected as per the creator's judgment.

You can disagree with me if you want but telling me I ruined my own game is going too far. The game is made so I know I would play it and enjoy it. My reasoning for the child cornet and scary mask are because I really loved Mother 3 and you HAD to use similar items or you'd get creamed in that game too. I loved that. It makes zero sense that your party is gods-in-the-making and can take down bosses with ease. Especially up against the final boss (really, it makes no sense that Snowe and his party are able to win given the backstory of that boss). Under normal circumstances, Snowe is going to be creamed. So I introduced an item to give your players the advantage they need in the game's story AND in battle and it makes complete sense to me. Why do you think Astra weakens the first boss in the way she does (and he's beatable after she does that)? That was a way of me telling you you have to do this in the game. Use all you can to stop the boss from hitting you so hard this is the key to winning.

And again, had you not said I ruined my own game, I wouldn't even have cared.

I did not ruin my game. It's smooth to me and smooth to other people who have played. You just not enjoying it any longer does not equal me ruining it.
Just be careful with your words next time, Vinicius. "Ruin" is a big word, you know? "Horrible" is also a big word. Those are words you wouldn't want to use unless you're absolutely certain the game deserves those words, when clearly, the game does not at all.
