A chain game, sent from person to person, each putting in their part of the epic story in their own style.

When two mercenaries accepted an escort job--thought to be a swift and easy-- they found themselves involved into a global conspiracy that would shake the very core of the earth.

Features
*New twist on the battle system: Each character is divided into 3 categories. Striker, Balance or Passive. Striker types regain MP in battle by attacking only. They'll gain 20 MP this way, and are usually more for saving up for a big attack.
Balance types regain 10 MP regardless of what command is used. Their skills tend to cost less but are not usually focused on having a big final attack to use.
Passive types regain 30 MP when you defend. They also start with the most MP in a battle and are Mage-types.

*Encounter Gauge which fills up as you fight encounters (which are seen on the map). Once filled, you can open up a special chest in the area.

*Party changing system

Fixed bugs and improvements

The game has been out for 3 weeks now and I think the responses for the game have been very positive, which I am happy for! We went ahead and fixed up some of the issues that we found players complaining about, either design wise or due to bugs. So if you get any lag in Capital city or Crossroads in your version, you may want to upgrade to this one.

There are other bug fixes as well and some changes in dialogue, though it doesn't change the entire plot around so it is not a mandatory upgrade.

Anyway, I am glad to have worked on this along with the team, and we thank you all for playing it!

Awesome, glad you're enjoying it so far!

And yes, Sadness of the Axe is a great title. Too bad we had to change it!
This game has a lot of character. I especially liked the weapon shop in the second town, that sold extremely overpowered but hopelessly expensive weaponry. Almost makes me wish you had the option of going back to that down when you are much stronger and challenging the guy who runs that shop to a duel. But I guess that going back when I have the funds and buying a +infinity staff will work too?

Also that the game is called "Chain of Retribution" and the characters literally walk along a linear "chain" throughout the game. Clever! Still not as great of a title as "Sadness of the Axe," though, but probably more fitting.

This guy shows up in other towns besides the 2nd so don't worry about having to backtrack!

I didn't know chaingames were still around. This is wonderful.
grats guys

everyone play this it's a true "Last Great RM2k3 Game"
Good to see that you guys are enjoying it so far. As a warning, we did keep this on the harder side which you will start to feel on the 3rd boss. It isn't so bad as long as you make good use of your resources and the ins and outs of the battle system though. Heh.

And yes, the merchant with the overpowered gear is there throughout your journey to tempt you into making bad financial decisions.
And being badass about it at the same time.

Yeah I'm glad people are liking it so far! Anyone pass the Golden Gates boss yet? I'm pretty curious how difficult it is for other people since we're used to the game already so an outside opinion on the difficulty would be nice!
I think i was fighting that bounty hunter and lost, for me, this morning. I have yet to try again. I did get to buy that 9k weapon that double hits so it should help.

Aha, you mean the green haired one? Yeah there's a bit of a trick to that fight. The battle goes differently depending on who is the last one to be killed. They'll receive a bit of a power up so you'll need to be careful!
Oh thats cool, im going for her first then!
EDIT: How come i cant use augments on siegmund?
There's a reason for that, but after a certain point, you'll be able to.
Ok yeah i just got there. Valeria really threw me for a loop. Wasnt expecting that.
Hey guys, I've started the Let's Plays of your game. Check out my LP thread in the Game Discussion and Development forum! ^ ^
I watched them all earlier this morning. Good stuff. I laughed plenty at some of it. 8D
Yeah, i watched the first one. He seems to think your graphics are very sexy.
Something I realised that was not explained during the tutorial while watching your LP:

All the characters have a different set of skills from one another that are influenced by the Gems they have equipped, so even though both Siegmund and Reinhardt will get Air elemental skills with an Air Gem, what specific skills they get will be different from one another. (like Bio Strike for Reinhardt at LV2 versus Air Guard for Siegmund at LV2)

Thus, each character ends up with a radically different skill list even using the same set of Gems, so they end up playing differently from each other instead of being blank slates influenced solely by their equipment.
@GreatOldOne: Yeah, I kinda figured that out after a while. Cool idea, helps to make each character unique, while still giving you a choice in how their skill set plays out.
