A chain game, sent from person to person, each putting in their part of the epic story in their own style.

When two mercenaries accepted an escort job--thought to be a swift and easy-- they found themselves involved into a global conspiracy that would shake the very core of the earth.

Features
*New twist on the battle system: Each character is divided into 3 categories. Striker, Balance or Passive. Striker types regain MP in battle by attacking only. They'll gain 20 MP this way, and are usually more for saving up for a big attack.
Balance types regain 10 MP regardless of what command is used. Their skills tend to cost less but are not usually focused on having a big final attack to use.
Passive types regain 30 MP when you defend. They also start with the most MP in a battle and are Mage-types.

*Encounter Gauge which fills up as you fight encounters (which are seen on the map). Once filled, you can open up a special chest in the area.

*Party changing system

Fixed bugs and improvements

The game has been out for 3 weeks now and I think the responses for the game have been very positive, which I am happy for! We went ahead and fixed up some of the issues that we found players complaining about, either design wise or due to bugs. So if you get any lag in Capital city or Crossroads in your version, you may want to upgrade to this one.

There are other bug fixes as well and some changes in dialogue, though it doesn't change the entire plot around so it is not a mandatory upgrade.

Anyway, I am glad to have worked on this along with the team, and we thank you all for playing it!

Not the first Chain game I have seen or played but without doubt it is the smoothes that reminds me of more childish Snes games when I was kid. Good job.
I've not quite beat it yet, but I've enjoyed this game for the most part. I have to say though...damn, that super boss is resilient. I died the first two times (both to that mana drain (I think it was called), attack, that greatly reduces hp + drains all mana, at a bad time, but the third time I survived that first one, which gave me time to decimate the rest of the enemies Edit: I believe it was called mass drain, it came back to me.. For the sake of not spoiling anything...I won't reveal his name, but the reward is worth it. Quick edit: I think overall he was a pushover on his own, as it was the minions that finished me off before I got to heal after his mass drain attack. Quick edit 2: Come to think of it, why doesn't he get his own bar conversation like that other optional boss? That would of been interesting to see.

I enjoyed the overall feel of the game (and I think I found all the secrets), the dialog, and the customization (though my main power comes from domitian, with carnage equipped+rage, turning him into a very deadly berserker), who beat a certain boss in the library dungeon in less than 20 seconds..., but thats what happens when you buy from that expensive merchant. The whole encounter bar seemed tacked on, because by time I reached the special chest, it was long since filled. I'm probably missing a few things to comment on, but mayby they will come to me as I go through the last dungeon!

Oh yeah, one last thing but I couldn't find alexandra in the town after the events at the capital. I was hoping to talk to all the npcs, but for some strange reason her location eludes me. I'm thinking you might of forgot to place her, since I'm faily certain I've traversed that whole place. As for passability issues, there were still a couple (but they were minor, so I didn't really bother to screenshot), and a typo which I forgot to write down.

Overall, excellent game. If I can think of anything else to put, I'll do it after I finish this game up.

Nice, but I don't remember a Library dungeon....? Where was that?
It was the dungeon when the capital was getting attacked. The imperial library or something I think it was called. To be more specific, it's the one where you had to split your party into two groups. Beat the game though, though I can't think of anything to add offhand, except I enjoyed the ending.

Edit: My mistake, I think it was called the imperial magic academy. Not sure why I was thinking imperial library.

Edit 2: I just remembered one major bug I forgot to mention. Whenever you reentered the restraunt, the screen would be black, but entering/exiting the menu would fix it.
This looks pretty dang awesome! Time to download!
Knew you'd get featured. Incredible game. Congrats guys.
Alright, I seem to have encountered a bug.

I am not far into the game, and you'll have to forgive me for forgetting the specifics. It's directly after the dialogue where you meet the ... Dervish? Whirlwind? I forget his first name, but his friend is named Alexandria. It's when the caravan catches up to you after the boss fight following the brigands.

Instead of moving forward, I went back, as I realized I'd missed a chest in the town prior. When I leave that cave to enter back into the scene where all the caravan guards and lined up and the caravan merchant is hanging out, the screen wont load. Just a black screen, with music playing.
An awesome game. Just started playing it, and so far I love it! VERY SNES-like. Very. I love how light-hearted and silly it is so far, and how much personality each of the characters has. Though I'm not too far into it yet, so I can't comment on very much.

Good job on this, guys, as well as getting featured!

Huh, this is weird. OK, I know the area though so I'll go fix!
the game ended when i killed skullhoarse or what ever his name was
anyways great game its the third on my top three :D
Completed the game...

The orb system got me mad at the beginning, but in the end it's a good feature. The plot is pretty decent but it's more than well written.

I had a good time playing this game, but I have to admit I don't think I'll play it again (beating the secret boss at lv 60 made the game a 100% beaten one :D ).

Thanks for the efforts you all've put in here... It's been a pleasure!
Hey I just started playing this game (like played for an hour) and I'm loving the humour in the game so far. The Mage/Tutorial Sisters Avatars are kind of unnerving :D

Definately love the insta heal between combat I always love when that feature is includied...as most of the time it just boils down to carrying around 99 of X healing item with you so is mostly pointless and just succeeds to slow down gameplay

The Striker/Balance/Passive System makes the battle system more engaging than you standard "hit auto-battle and go grab a drink" random battles. Actually on that note I'm loving the decision to go with on map enemies instead of random battles.

Thank you all for the comments! Sorry, very busy and I haven't been around much but yes, I am happy that everyone enjoys it!
Please make a sequal and keep it hidden again too
D'aww. There was apparently 2 secret bosses? I only fought the super boss guy, who would have smacked the last boss around like a ragdoll >_>.

..Still, this game was amazing. >.> The dialogue at the very end had me cracking up. Fielle's dialogue was gold.

Especially
That whole Villainous rant aimed at the sisters, where she confessed she was expecting them to die. xD

Haha, well the other one is hidden by FROGS. Collect em all (as a spoiler, there are 15 frogs to collect)! It is pretty hard or sometimes impossible to backtrack and get them all if you miss one so just keep an eye out if you do. I think one near the end is actually in a chest! It's not as hard a boss as the one you fight on the mountain though, but you get a good reward for it as well.

Glad you like the dialogue though, we had fun writing that! I think I know exactly who is responsible for that part though, haha.

Please make a sequal and keep it hidden again too
Don't worry, it'll be so hidden you won't know if we are even working on one or not!

But the answer is, we're not yet. I mean it'd be nice but right now everyone involved with this project is very busy with their own things so it might not happen for a while. Sorry!
YOU might be busy with your own thing, but I have all the free time in the world! Maybe I will make Chain of Retribution 2 all by myself!

Coming soon... on XBox Live Arcade.

Chain Harder
Let he who is without HP...break the first chain
Um might have just been a glitch or bug or maybe just a chance thing, but when I loaded my game it said i was lv 8. The few battles before you fight the people taking the dead bodies and dragon thing. when i fought them it said leveling up level 7. For some reason i went down two levels. and i was wondering is it a glitch or something i did?
