Everlong is a FREE amateur fantasy game designed to capture the charm and cliche of the classic SNES JRPG. You are a Blackguard, a knight sworn to serve the Cirigoth Empire and trained in the dark arts, yet hunted by your imperial masters after turning renegade. Only through enlisting the aid of friends and allies can you escape pursuit and defeat the oppressive Cirigoth regime. Journey across the world's continents to forge a confederacy and fight for freedom in global war. Yet a more insidious plot looms in the shadows. A fallen god seeks to exploit civilization's folly and reclaim the dreams and nightmares of humanity.

The linear story of Everlong is accompanied by numerous side-quests. It also focuses heavily on puzzles, dialog, and battle strategy.

New Version 3.35

The downloads section has been updated with a new full version and patch. Mostly bug fixes, but the controller support is sweet for those of us using Xbox controllers with Windows (thanks to PepsiOtaku for that plugin). Here's the update notes:

Everlong v3.35 (2022.01.16):

Added controller / gamepad support with a DynRPG plugin
Shinryu skill Atomic Breath no longer scales with physical attack power; resulted in extreme damage when auto balance mode toggled ON
Restored conditions removal effect for certain healing skills on their final tier: Succor, Celerity, Chakra
Added message when recruiting Miyagi to explain EXP and Encounter scaling turns off
The first Altair battle no longer results in an instant victory if monster scaling is active; an HP reference was missing for this monster in the scaling code
Attempted to address boss battles being unintentionally skipped outside Story Mode if the control switch was somehow otherwise toggled
Attempted to restore possibly corrupted database value for Virtuoso items that prevented the player from equipping them
Corrected MAG+ value for Mystic Pendant accessory
Siren activated battle in Cerulean Silex and Ignis Castrum against Naga Archer no longer crashes due to null event page references
Keen Skill Scroll Blink now shows correct skill reference when queried with SHIFT

Lol, given the "IMMENSE" size of Everlong, several problems like that are sure to arise. I think DJC gives a yearly update on his Everlong site, so if you find something like that, it'll probably be fixed in a later patch. :)
Cannot beat Aegir at Castle Alveus. Have tried several times. Utterly frustrated at the amount of hours I've put into this thing, only to encounter an unbeatable boss that I HAVE to defeat to move to story forward. One of my MAIN complaints about this game is that there is NO WHERE to level up. The monters on the maps are very few and far between, and sometimes non-existant. I cannot level up, therefore I cannot collect gold to buy potions. This game is SERIOUSLY flawed. One of the worst I've played, and I've played ALOT.
Crappy font type. I don't like playing an RPG that I have to struggle to read the story for.

This is a common problem with RM2K3 games, you'll want to install the font patch.

It's available on rpgmaker.net here.

I've had players tell me this battle is both too easy and too difficult. It's designed with the assumption players will use elemental attributes: water protection and lightning attacks. I'll take another look at the balance next time I'm working on a update.

The level up system is an unfortunate consequence of the game's length and the experience curves, trying to spread 99 levels across the entire story. It was a compromise solution to players gaining way too many levels. Maybe there's a new plugin I can use that provides an alternative, like monster XP based on hero level. That way players can continue receiving encounters to win money and drops. Money has almost never been a problem reported by players, however, nor lack of basic items. There's so many to find in dungeons, and you have to fight a ton of battles to reach the encounter caps, I'd hope players would have all they need to buy potions. Thanks for the feedback, I'll give this some thought and see what new stuff is out there for the aging RM2K3 editor. In the meantime, you can always go to the world map, switch to story mode in options, and skip any boss battle to continue the story, then switch back.
Hey DJC, where can I get those battler graphics, like the one used for Laverna? I Checked Everlong's website, but the links for the GGZ ones are dead. :o

(Also, I love this game; it's neither too difficult, nor too easy. I've died on several occasions, but I always had fun whenever I play it. Plus, it's "long" enough to keep me entertained for hours on end~ :3)

It's not surprising Gaming Ground Zero is no longer hosting all those old sprites, but I don't know where else you could find the originals. I acquired them years ago like most of the other resources used in Everlong. You can always use the music and graphics files from my game in other projects, but I'm not sure what the best source for RM2K3 resources is now. Maybe Charas Project, but that website hasn't necessarily preserved these kind of original works.

Glad to hear you enjoy the game, I'm always looking for little ways to improve it since I don't have much time anymore.
I'm glad to see this game on here! I remember playing this years ago and I always wondered why it was never up on any of these RPG Maker community sites. It makes me happy to see it thrive here as it's a game that deserves much more.

One of the best, if not the best RM2K game I've played.
This is a MUST PLAY if you love classic RPGs.
I first did not like it because of the graphics. Well, it is an old engine. But I quickly was absorbed into the story and the game. Man! It was ever LOOOOOOONG! But it didn't feel long enough once I was finished with it though.
It was AWESOME!! Few classic RPGs can compare.
I tried to download it but when I try to extract the files I get an error
message.
"Everlong_Full..." is not a valid .zip archive! IF you downloaded this file, try downloading again.
Or something like that. Any ideas?

I just double checked the main download and the zip archive is not corrupted. I would suggest trying to download the file again. You can also attempt to open the archive with a different program. I believe I used 7zip, but the Windows archive tool should work, or winzip/winrar.
What is it with that damn Charybdis or whatever the hell its name is...damn octopus. ALWAYS uses seize and it lasts until everyone is dead. None of the potions I have remove it. So many paths in the place...did my sorry old ass pass something by that was essential here? Id HATE to have to go all the way back.

I reintroduced an engine bug concerning conditions with the last update. That's what I get for not thoroughly testing. Apply the patch and it will fix this issue. I've also updated the full installation package. Here's a link:

Everlong v3.27 Patch
opened that little folder and its in the works...but that bitch still seizing my boyos to death. although this time it might be just bad luck. i will keep trying.
Later bosses will use Seize and similar attacks that paralyze your heroes. If the issue persists, send me an email with your save file and I'll take a look at it. Combat is not designed to be frustrating, especially so early in the game. Glad you're sticking with it, though.
I have a question.
Apparently there is this enemy skill called Reversal. How. Can. I. Avoid it? It's literally driving me insane, I had to story mode one of the Nemus Aevum guardians, just because he kept killing my party all the time.
Now I've got a huge problem with Phoenix. All my party member are 99 level, have excellent equipment, huge protection from various status effects, etc. And nothing seems to counter it, this thing just keeps using Reversal and killing my party.
Also, where is that Legendary Sword in Nemus Aevum, I couldn't find it at all.
According to the NPC, Miyagi, "Reversal" will set all characters' HP to 100% - their current percentage, which means a full HP character will drop to 0. KOed characters are treated as 0%, so they'll be fully revived. The only way to survive that move is to avoid having characters at full HP.

Well, this is going to be a painful battle once I get there (I'm about halfway through at lv 50). Good luck.

Jesus Christ, this is hell. OK, I will try, thanks for your help!

Ah, your level is really low. I suggest doing a little level-up at least up to level 70. Equip your best equipment (usually found in the same place, Phoenix cave, loads of it). Oh, and I highly recommend getting Carbunkle first, his summon is a HUGE, HUUUGE buff for the whole party. It's the moment, where Vixen becomes essential for standard party setup. However, he's hard to get.
Bugfragged is correct, the skill Reversal inverts the HP of all your heroes. If you're above half maximum health, you take damage. If you're below half maximum health, you're healed. The key against foes who use Reversal is to never fully heal to 100% HP, but maintain enough health to survive attacks. It might be helpful to leave one character chronically low on HP. You'll have to constantly revive them, but Reversal will heal them and they can recover the rest of the party. Every monster that uses Reversal also does so using a pattern that doesn't change, so you can anticipate it.

Here's a link to the Legendary Sword in Nemus Aevum. At the second stone knight take a left onto the path leading to Guardian Dragona.
