New Version 3.35

The downloads section has been updated with a new full version and patch. Mostly bug fixes, but the controller support is sweet for those of us using Xbox controllers with Windows (thanks to PepsiOtaku for that plugin). Here's the update notes:

Everlong v3.35 (2022.01.16):

Added controller / gamepad support with a DynRPG plugin
Shinryu skill Atomic Breath no longer scales with physical attack power; resulted in extreme damage when auto balance mode toggled ON
Restored conditions removal effect for certain healing skills on their final tier: Succor, Celerity, Chakra
Added message when recruiting Miyagi to explain EXP and Encounter scaling turns off
The first Altair battle no longer results in an instant victory if monster scaling is active; an HP reference was missing for this monster in the scaling code
Attempted to address boss battles being unintentionally skipped outside Story Mode if the control switch was somehow otherwise toggled
Attempted to restore possibly corrupted database value for Virtuoso items that prevented the player from equipping them
Corrected MAG+ value for Mystic Pendant accessory
Siren activated battle in Cerulean Silex and Ignis Castrum against Naga Archer no longer crashes due to null event page references
Keen Skill Scroll Blink now shows correct skill reference when queried with SHIFT

Here is my uploaded save near the chocobo search minigame. Hopefully it will help pinpoint a problem if there even is one that isn't on my end. If not no big deal I'm about to beat the game.

I tested your save file and Chocobo Search is working when I load it on my computer.

Edit: I think it's on my end compiling the patch. I'm having difficulty verifying updated files since Windows 10 has serious permission issues and won't change the last modified date for any of my game files. As a result, I'm just adding ALL maps and the database to the fixes download. Try it one more time, and hopefully it should work.
I just got to pullus unda and the game is suddenly lagging like CRAZY for me.
Kalledemos, pullus unda was an absolute nightmare for me and where the lag became unbearable. If you haven't already got past this section and assuming your lag is as bad as mine was, here are some tips. Turn on story mode for no encounters and collect your party members quickly and do exploring later. As you collect your members the lag slowly goes away. If your game turns into a stop-motion slideshow I've found that constantly entering and exiting your menu every 2-4 seconds will give a few brief seconds of playable game.

oh phew, I thought it was a computer specs problem on my end. thanks for tip, I noticed that lag became bearable now that I found a 4th party member. fingers crossed that the chocobo puzzle works for me...
I'll see if I can do something to alleviate the lag in Pullus Unda. Could be a result of the special map that displays to help the player find missing party members.

Edit: Ok, got a fix up for the Pullus Unda lag. The custom map should only refresh when necessary, not continuously. Let me know if you run into any more of these situations, kalledemos. Many of the custom displays run on a similar constant refresh premise, which could be the source of whacker's issues.
I have also encountered the chocobo search glitch :/
I noticed some bosses dont have Ap so they cant use skills

I noticed some bosses dont have Ap so they cant use skills
hmm? which ones? With maybe the exception a few early bosses, I'm pretty sure every boss has used a set of skills on me.
I noticed Fulgora wasnt doing anything I am playing on hard mode
I remember playing this great game many years ago (and almost crying when I encountered the bug in the trial of dragons, however after I finished it). Now I have began to play it again and I'm at the first boss, i use default settings and... how many hp it has? I remember killing him with around 15 hits now I'm over 50!!
Something to keep in mind. The first boss and his hp bar made me think there was something wrong with the game. On default settings the hp bar isn't accurate for bosses. You only have to get somewhere around 1/4 or 1/3 of the bar down to kill a boss at that point in the game. As you get further the amount of bar to kill a boss increases, but so does your damage, so it evens out. So while it is arguable the bosses have too much hp, the hp bar isn't a good indicator for how long a boss will take.
^This. the HP bar won't be accurate for bosses until you're about to go to the forgotten continent.

EDIT: Also, Andreo: I'd recommend setting the difficulty to 'auto' until you get the ship. I found that the extra stat modifiers for default mode made a few early bosses a bit too harsh. particularly, the first :p
Ok, Windows 10 is finally showing me when files were last modified, so I've updated the patch and the files should be current and work this time.

Boss AP should start at maximum now, allowing these enemies to use their skills. My guess is the Hard difficulty setting multiplied the monster AP setting to values beyond what the engine can store, causing an overflow to negative values, or just reverting to zero.

This latest update also includes a fix for Hard difficulty boss HP. All enemies had their hit points doubled on this setting, when there should have been a reduced case for bosses.

The problem with the HP bar and bosses stems from my implementation of boss fight conclusions. All bosses have an extra 20K HP, making the gauge wildly inaccurate for bosses with little regular HP. It's an unfortunate work around that also makes it difficult to scale boss HP. There's an entire separate auto balance algorithm for that alone.

Kraken normally has 1200 HP, but there's a hidden 20K extra. Double that for 42400 on Hard difficulty, and you had to deal 22400 damage for victory, beyond excessive. With the new patch and multiplier, it's only ~6500, about five times regular. Much more reasonable.
I can confirm chocobo search works now.
Thanks whacker. I apologize for the patch failing to work previously. This is exactly what I worried would happen after upgrading to Windows 10, which is why I was desperate to finish the release candidate beforehand.

I'll be on vacation again for another week, but please report any more errors or issues encountered and I'll address them upon my return. Hopefully players are still having fun with the game.
Anyone figure out a good tactic for last summon Beomaust?

I always managed it on older version, but can't on this one. Defending doesn't really work, he still does to much damage. I get him to about half his HP, then I die.

Also, what does "Blink" do?

Blink grants you immunity to physical attacks and skills.

As for beomaust, what difficulty are you playing on and have you rebirthed? I recommend using custom difficulty and setting everything to 100%, that should be closer to his previous version stats.I haven't fought him in this version yet, but make sure you don't use buffs while fighting him. pretty much every superboss in the game can punish you heavily for doing so. IIRC, you'll want to have equipment with breath and magic resistance, and have the healer defend when healing isn't needed. keep some miracles handy too in case everyone else dies. If you MUST use a buff, using a soma bottle to get blessed would be best as it's every buff in one.
Thanks! I'm on normal difficulty, rebirthed and about lvl 40. I managed every boss prior to this one in a few tries, so it's not a question of power, but more tactic. Didn't think of putting him to custom stats and usual 100% difficulty, lol. I'll try that.

It worked! :) Tricky, but doable. Had to use both healers. Protect buff doesn't seem to do any harm as far as punishments go.
