This is my second fanmade remake submission on RMN, submitted for the Release Something! Day 11 event.

The project is still in very early production (started in 2010), the gameplay mechanics are currently full of minor glitches, are far from complete and will definitely be improved.
This demo includes a few maps and slimes to slay using the female Wizard character.
Please refer to the information provided in-game for controls.

The completed game will include:
-Nine character classes to choose from (Hero, Soldier, Fighter, Thief, Pilgrim, Wizard, Merchant, Goof-Off, Sage).
-2D platformer, Action-RPG gameplay using physical attacks and battle skills.
-100% custom graphics (maybe except for battle animations)
-Storyline and plot rewriting yet faithful to the original game's.
-Set in the world of Dragon Quest 3.

All graphics in this demo are custom-made (except for battle animations).
Soundtrack used in this demo comes from Actraiser and Valkyrie Profile: Silmeria.

Progress (updated regularly)

I am currently rewriting and revamping several features and systems in the pre-production document.
I am still not as active in the actual development of this game because the core mechanics require loads of complicated and bug-free coding that I've been working on now and then for a few months now.
This game will also require tons of pixel art I won't continue until the coding is all done.

The following changes are confirmed:

-The Hero is the only mandatory class as he will be the main protagonist.
-Other party members will all be female.
-A Relationship system, managed through various events, will affect character development and your party's efficiency in battle.
-Fighting enemies won't happen in real-time anymore: touching enemies in Walkabout Mode will teleport you to the battlefield.
-Battle system mechanics will now be similar to Tales series' battle system, but will still include Platformer features.
-New dungeons and subquests will be added to the original yet slightly altered storyline.

Pretty good demo. It ran a bit choppy on the EEEPC netbook on the first screen. The town scene was bit better since it didn't have much graphical effect. Due to the choppiness, it was hard to control. I will try it on another machine to fully experience the demo better. I did like the graphic effect as leaves swaying and the sun shiny on the scene.
EEEPC netbook? What the heck?
Thanks for the feedback. I did the event coding over one year ago and it is really bad, which explains the lag and choppiness. Rest assured I will make better coding for it.
I liked this demo a lot! It is very inspirational. This is also original because nobody has ever thought of a Dragon Quest platformer before. I would add a item menu in Fantasia, but I don't know how right now. Instead I plan on doing everything in real time. Anyway, keep up the good work!
