A game for tough boys and girls!

Welcome to my review of Boys Cell!
This is a cute little game made in a week by Faenon, and it's interesting the fact that the various elements of the game were designed by a group of 10-14 year olds boys.

The story is about a team of four superheroes that have to save a group of boys that were taken hostages in a Parish Centre by a mysterious supervillain. Like in most other games, the boss surrounded himself with minions and he's staying at the top floor of the building.
The first cool thing is that you get to choose some terms that will be used during the game, AND also select your team.

My heroes were:
-Mr. Joy: a half naked crazy guy with a twitchy eye, armed with a chainsaw and the power of Seduction. He can charm opponents, and this is very useful against large groups.
-ManlyManMan: a muscular guy in black, a bit slow but rather powerful with his katana attacks. He could also make some "macho attacks" that hit everyone sometimes stunning them. Badass.
-M.A.W. or Middle Age Weirdo: a Deadpool wannabee that it's a bit mediocre until he uses his power (Crisis) that makes him a monstrous powerhouse, at the price of losing health points each round (but he cannot die of this, he must be hit by an enemy, so he becomes a sort of glass cannon).
-Bomber Bob: a sort of green goblin armed with a shotgun. His power was invisibility, and despite this he turned out to be the weakest of the gang. In any case I needed someone to use the items while the others are busy fighting the enemies, so it's ok!

Other selectable characters are Awesome Man (a classic superhero with power of lightning), Peter Crouch (a footballer that can turn into a robot), Lhdj (a green being that fights unarmed and jumps), and Norris (a granny with axe and chaingun!).
I like a lot these characters and the possibility to create your team. Ever seen Axe Cop? This is the same level of weirdness.

*spoiler* - he's going to attack us!

So the group of heroes enters the basement to climb each floor, until they reach the cell with the boys on the last floor and confront the villain. Easy.
The interesting thing is that enemies are always visible and avoidable (except for bosses, of course!) and do NOT provide experience but only some money. Yes, there is no need to grind since you can obtain just some cash and nothind else.
Around the various levels you can also find elephants (or save points), merchants, bathrooms (that can replenish completely hitpoints but only once), spirit points (that can be used to replenish the spirit, used to perform special moves) and penguins (that gives some info on the game, but you won't probably need them).

The game consist in finding the exit to the next floor, and sometimes also the key to unlock this exit. Each floor has different enemies and some bosses that may or may not be optional. Don't underestimate them, since while usually combat is usually a walk in a park, my team was almost destroyed by a giant alien that charmed the various members turning one against the other! And be prepared for the final combat, since if you arrive unprepared you cannot backtrack to get more money or loot the chests you missed before!
There's a simple, golden rule (that always works even in real life!): always go to the bathroom BEFORE leaving the area! Trust me!

M.A.W. or the Middle Age Weirdo runs to attack this optional boss!

Verdict
This is a little game that can be completed in 30 minutes. Despite being quite easy, it has some nice features like the skeleton boss composed by various targettable parts, the area with the invisible spiders, the weird cook, and other bizarre situations and unexpected foes. Nice!
There's not much else to day: graphics are mainly rtp but there are lots of edits, monsters are (nice) sprites from many different sources. Music is nothing much, sounds instead are hilarious (the bad guy's laugh!).

That's everything I have to say, it's a small game, with simple rules, made in few time but with some clever and funny details. I had fun, really.
This is clearly a small game that was made in a short time, and despite not having the inventiveness and originality of "Escape from Castle Nuwni" is still a pleasant short adventure with no bugs or issues, not boring and unplayable, but rather easy and funny.
So it deserves a 3 (some clever ideas were used in "The Cerebral Symphony" but I guess this game first!).

Well, I told you not to review and you went for it!

Thanks, rpgmakeraddict! You are very generous.

Anyone reading this--this game was only over put up here so some kids from a church youth group I ran whom I made it for could download it.

But glad some other people are enjoying it too! Cheers!

They did design some pretty fantastic characters...

Clearely it's not your best game (YOU! Yes, you that are reading this! Play the Cerebral Symphony!), but still better than some 2/2.5 games I already reviewed (and there were a couple that were quite similar to this one.. and got the same rating). Aaaand I also see that someone else can appreciate it too.
Characters are very cool, but I also liked how you designed the encounters on the different floors. In a reeeeally short time. I've not this skill.
Thanks man. Sorry, I meant to say you are very 'generous', not 'adventurous'! Edited.
