This page is meant to you maximize your JAOD gaming experience and answer some of your lingering questions.

Pro Tip#1: Unlike many RM2K3 games, much of the environment is interactive in the JAOD Project. This means that you can interact with windows, bookshelves, pictures, plants and more! By doing so, it is possible that you may achieve an achievement, receive an item or zules, or even change the course of events.

Pro Tip#2: While distributing your BP (Battle Points) to make your characters stronger, keep in mind a few things. If you decide to invest too quickly on your level and stats, remember that your opponents will also grow stronger as you grow stronger. In most cases your growth strength will always be greater than your opponents, but not in all cases. Furthermore, if you decide to remain at a lower level and focus on only your battle menu additions, try not to buy too many different battle options so quickly. You may want to save those battle menu slots for more suitable battle options.

If a battle option is more preferred, you will have greater success at building a more balanced, solid fighting team. Although it is not easy to know what battle options are preferred and which are not, there are some clues. For example, if you exchange Fight Command with Combo Command for Jaquio, I’m sure you notice almost immediately how much harder battles become (and how much less damage Jaquio may be doing). The reason is that Combo Command combines physical attacks, which is Jaquio’s specialty, with magic and luck, which are two things Jaquio does not specialize in. Jaquio being a person from Earth is not adept in magic and his luck stat is his lowest and slowest growing stat. Knowing this should clue you in on who should have Combo Command and who should not. Essentially heroes with both high luck and high strength will do better. One such person is Morak, who not only does additional damage when using the Combo Command, but he has an additional attack if you upgrade Combo Command to level 6. Note: You can build each of your heroes any way you want. There is no right or wrong build, only a more right or more wrong build. If you are reasonable, you will still be able to complete the game regardless.

Pro Tip#3: Although you can complete Vesta Inc. without ever personally using the WT900, you just might want to use it every now and then. Especially if you are lost and don’t know where to go. This game is designed to track if you are lost on a map, that is, you are well past the expected time it should take to leave a certain map. When this happens a trigger occurs that will change the conversation between Jaquio and Briggs to the point that Briggs will guide you into the right direction. The WT900 not only can help you when you are lost, but using the device can also change the course of events, rewards, items and achievements.

Pro Tip#4: The humans of Earth, including Jaquio, are unfamiliar with the concept of magic. Keep this in mind while building your battle menus, because once you leave Earth (which happens at the end of the first released demo) you will learn magic and have many more battle options to add. Although magic is not necessarily Jaquio’s cup of tea, you will at least have the capacity to add a good number of new battle options such as Summon, Kigam, Edicius, Star Light and/or Sacred Art. All of these battle options unlock once you leave Earth and step foot into Nilfheim.

Pro Tip#5: All of your game decisions and how well you perform in battle is tracked and used in the “No Newb Left Behind” system. This system balances out poor character build decisions and/or poor in game decisions by making enemy opponents easier and making rewards greater. If you continually struggle in battles, for example, the “No Newb Left Behind” system will trigger and make it so that enemies perform their weaker attacks, as opposed to their stronger attacks. Note that this system is not meant to give the gamer a free pass to slop up whatever builds and decisions they want. There are limitations to how much “No Newb Left Behind” will help. In the beginning, this system is most noticeable, however, as you progress through the game this system will begin to activate less. Note: You can learn more about "No Newb Left Behind" as well as other hidden systems by clicking this text!

Pro Tip#6: Every battle command has a pro and con. Fight command's con is that luck is the main determining factor on whether or not your attack will miss. If your luck is low, you will miss quite a bit. The pro is that you get to deal damage immediately without waiting, unlike Combo which requires you to prep before performing that attack. Combo command's con is the fact that you have to prep and eat damage before you begin your assault. However, Combo command's pro is that luck is directly connected to how powerful your combo chains will be. Combo commands also rarely miss.

Pro Tip#7: As part of a check and balance for being reckless and aggressive, you will encounter more battles for these types of decisions. Just by choosing to "kill the guard" on the first choice you can make at Vesta Inc, for example, the result is an approximate 20% increase in battle encounters. If you are running into battle after battle you should evaluate the most recent decisions that you have made.

Pro Tip#8: All enemies will get stronger as you get stronger. This is also true for your battle items. Tobor3200, for example, is stronger if you are level 2 than if you are level 1. The items' strength commensurate with how strong the user is. Also note that the damage enemies output will adjust accordingly to who they are attacking. For example, let's say that both Jaquio and Jessica are in a party. Jaquio is level 1 and Jessica is level 2. The enemies will not attack Jaquio as though he is also level 2, they will attack him as though he is level 1 (because he is level 1). And Jessica will be attacked on a level 2 basis (because she is level 2), and not on a level 1 basis. This can be used to your advantage later in the game. A nice strategy for mixing high level heroes with low level heroes create a battle environment that is tough for enemies to thrive in. The only thing you would have to worry about with this strategy are the AOE attacks, which have no level contingencies.

Pro Tip#9: Low quality items, such as the Tobor2300, have level caps. Be aware of items that have level caps, and take note of when those items are no longer getting stronger as you get stronger. As you progress through the game, you may want to steer clear of low quality items in order to have better battle performances.

Pro Tip#10: If you are attacking and doing exactly 0 damage, it means you (whose stats might be sub-par) or your attack (whose battle command might be sub-par) is NOT strong enough. 0 damage is displayed when you do less damage than what your enemies can deflect/absorb. Under these circumstances turn back (use Escape command or die), level up, increase stats or purchase better weaponry. You can also use alternative attack methods, i.e. items, to get through the battle. However, be warned that forcing your way further may dig you into a deeper hole.

Pro Tip#11: Optimal utilization of the Escape Command requires a few specific things to occur. Setting aside the fact that some heroes have a natural affinity for Escaping better than others, you have to keep in mind of the specific stats and items necessary to make Escape Command work at its best. Luck is the most dominant driving stat in the "successful" Escape Command algorithm. Heroes with naturally high Luck stats will be able to Escape easier than those without. Although it is important to keep Luck upgraded as much as possible, the Luck statistic does not have to be maxed out completely. The algorithm makes its calculations based on specific groupings of Luck values. In other words, if your character's Luck is 2 or 3, there will not be any direct difference in your success rate for escaping battle. With this said, it is still important to upgrade Luck, but it is not essential like the Speed stat. It is necessary to keep your Speed stat maxed for all heroes using Escape Command and at all times if you want to optimize your escaping success rate. The reason being is that you will receive a direct bonus in how successful you can escape battles. This bonus can only be received if your Speed stat is completely maxed out for the level your character is on (Note: Characters at level 1 does not qualify for receiving this bonus). For example, if Jaquio is level 5, his Speed stat has to be level 3 in order to receive the bonus; that is the maximum you can increase his Speed for that current level.

Pro Tip#12: The Friendship System is a great way to unlock otherwise unattainable locations, quests and various sequences of events. One important thing to understand concerning the Friendship System is that although it is important to listen to the advice of your allies, you do not have to do everything they suggest. There are pros and cons to both adhering to and not adhering to the advice of your allies and friends. The best way to approach the Friendship System is to not be afraid to go against the common grain. Make the decisions that you feel are best, and everything should work out just fine.
