This game is actually just entitled: "Metroid" but Chronicles suits it best. It's actually a bit long for a demo but that's because I actually wanted it to be as long as a standard RPG. The idea behind this is loosely based on the Metroid Manga series I have been reading for a while now. The story includes several characters of the Manga too and the plot was meant to extend from Metroid 1 to Metroid Prime. The combat used is the basic RPG 2K3 system so there would've been room for suit upgrades and weapons to equip. It honestly hurts me to say goodbye to this project because I was really looking foward to retelling the Metroid games in a way more true to the original and with a few ideas borrowed from the Manga series. Why not copy the whole thing? Well, where would the fun be in doing that? That and there were parts to the comics I liked and parts I didn't like. If you read the Manga; you'd know what I mean....
So here it is, my take on Metroid! If you know the series well then you'll be sure to like it in some way. If not then maybe it won't hurt to try this out anyway. The theory for upgrades I had involved you absorbing the upgrade and installing it into the suit's system. Since most of Samus' suit is used organically, she is capable of feeling pain where ever her armor gets damaged. When you get a new assignment; you'll recieve a message log that can be read through the HUD and oddly enough is one of the only times you see the HUD at all. You go through times where you wear the armor and times when you don't and I made sure that in either case; you notice the differences in terms of abilities and appearance in battle and outside of battle. The demo doesn't end until you reach a second portion of planet Zebes, right at the point where the events in Metroid Zero Mission takes place.
Once again, don't be afraid to speak your mind about the demo. :)
