I am making an Action-Platform Game in Game maker and I need some advice on how to make this game more fun, addictive, Original and lengthy.

I've been developing it for about a month. I could use some feedback from anybody that knows alot about action/platform/RPG/ games and Game maker. If you want to help make me this game a true success, post a comment or email me at raycolejustin@gmail.com I WILL GIVE YOU CREDIT!! I can take anything. If if you like it, great. But if you're harsh, I'll use that to make it better. If there is anything I need to improve on, TELL ME!!

So far the game has..
1)1 playable character
2)Various Tilesets (From Wonderboy, Sonic, Mario, Popful mail, etc.)
3)Tons of music ( some you may know, others you may not)
4)Smooth Gameplay Engine (It is a combination of various games I've played).

I would recommend making the switch to custom or original graphics sooner rather than later in order to gather more attention and better tweak level design to them. With platformers a lot of the size and scale specific jumps and passageways you design could be totally de-railed if the new sprites don't quite match up, and some jumps may need recalibrating for height and length. Similarly it is more eyecatching and gains more of a fanbase - allowing you to flesh out new characters and faces in your story without people thinking about the personalities or locals associated with them in the original games. There's a ton of people on RMN who will happily help you with this. Something I learned making Shadows Reach is that for later game projects original was always better (I took a real beating for use of FF7 music for example).

That said, I am keen to see more and know how it plays. Is there a background for the world you're making or character info you can share? I'm assuming your four playable characters fit the traditional wizard, warrior, thief and healer brackets and each play to different strengths, but you could be about to surprise us with something we don't see coming :)
Yes, in fact there is alot of information that I can give you at this point. However, I'm still developing the characters, world, storyline, and fixing up the gameplay engine.

I still have a lot of work to do such as editing tilesets, character sprites, which music to use, level design, which worlds to use, etc. There is a bit of info on the game's profile though. Soon I will be able to tell you more details about the game.

I'll give you some info though
1) Playable Character 1: LYDIA: A girl who suffers amnesia. She has no clue of who she is, where she came from, or what to do. she was then taken in by a league of bounty hunters who call themselves the Last Legends.

2)Gameplay Engine: So far it is smooth, fast paced, and action packed. This game is supposed to be an action/platformer/RPG, but with Stage-Based Progress. Inspiration for the gameplay came from various games I've played. however, I'm trying to come out with something original.

3) Worlds: There will be a total of 11 worlds in the game (Look up Fantasia in the search box). Each world will have it's own look, terrain, and enemies.

4)Music: this game has various MIDI files from several games I thought have some of the best music. Some of them include...
)Kirby, Final Fantasy, Knuckles Chaotix, Popful Mail, Lufia, Ninja Warriors, and many more. Most people wouldn't even recognize some of the music if they haven't played the games, and besides, these are some of my favorites.

5)Story: Not much so far, I'm still writing it.

6)Classes: Ninja, Swordsman, Cleric, Thief, Magician, other classes still pending.

7)World: Still Developing the World

8)As far as the demo goes: First demo is close to coming out,
But I need help on ...

1)Global Stage Menu ( I want it to fell like Zelda or Megaman so that I can pick items when I need them)

2) Wall jump code similar to Megaman X or Sonic.

Enker, THANKS FOR YOUR ADVICE!! I appreciate it. Advice like this motivates me to improve this game.

Happy to help - if you want any help with character/story ideas message me - I love creating settings and character interaction, and have a pretty good track record with scripts (http://cascadestudios.co.uk/goldenage/ for an example)
