Two thousand years before Act I, the untold story of the first Black Knight.

He's going to save the world and you've got to stop him. Become the enemy of humanity on your quest to end the world in this modern take on classic RPGs. Defeat those who would stand in your way in highly-tactical combat where every action can mean the difference between life and death. Unlock your full potential in battle by acting in line with your personality. Use your relationships to power combos to crush your foes.

As the heir to your father's empire, use your vast wealth and influence in order to gain favor, forge alliances, sabotage political enemies, and bring rival nations to their knees - and still make it home in time for tea.

Features
  • No money system!Being the rich prat you are, matters of finance are of no importance to you. It's assumed that you have enough money to purchase whatever you want. That being the case, items can be in short supply and unlocking better ones may require trading or finding the proper materials to enable shopkeepers to develop them.

  • Decision-based progression:Rather than an impersonal method of character advancement such as spending experience points or navigating a tech tree, players direct their characters’ growth by controlling their decision-making and seeing them grow as people.

  • Reaction system:Determine how each party member reacts to attacks by setting them to guard, dodge, or counterattack.

  • Game board exploration:Drawing inspiration from tabletop RPGs, Vacant Sky: Awakening has a unique game board style of exploration, where each location in the game is represented as a space on the board. Exploring, conversing, and dungeon crawling are all seamlessly integrated into the game board, so there is no distinction between “story sections” and “exploring sections.”

  • Character nature:Each character has a "nature" which, when the player acts in accordance with it in battle, will cause that character to gain energy. To fully maximize a character's potential, the player must understand them as a person and direct them to act accordingly.

It would be disingenuous to call a prequel volume 2.
Yeesss a prequel~! :D Subscribed! :)
Totally subscribing for the story, not because Dakura's a bishounen to rival the best of them, oh noooo --

So are we playing villain protagonists this time around? Or are there crazy twists in the story? :D

* The Maladorr story is begging for a prequel. XD The infodump is rather...tedious to remember; maybe a more interactive way of revealing it would be okay? Even a short game/segment would do, I guess?

I thought you might appreciate it, since you first planted the idea in my head.

Vacant Sky: Awakening is about answering why. It's an established fact that Dakura led an uprising and formed the Virad, making him both directly and indirectly responsible for the deaths of many, many people. The story of Awakening starts long before that and follows his rise from aristocrat to Black Knight to Lord of the Virad.
Oh -- wow. Never thought you'll really make a game out of it *__* Now I feel honored *A*

Going by that, I sense a lot of tragic things. I mean, going by his bio, he looks like a pretty nice guy (at first).

Also, characters in logos = important. :3 Hmmm...

Everything you know about him has come from second-hand accounts, or second-hand accounts of second-hand accounts. That's not really a fair treatment, neither to Dakura nor to history. If you look at just the facts of what Auria did, for example, one might find a hard time sympathizing with her without looking at the events from the context of her experience.

He's a nice guy.

Honest. :D
Awesome a prequel.
Can't wait to play this!

Hmm. Ur project looks interesting... and i've been creeping a lot, u've rly completed several games. : )

Hmmm. It looks like u have an artist already, but i'd love to be able to do something for the project... to join the team, maybe? It looks like it'd be fun.. X"D
On my last team, i worked as an illustrator/promotional artist and cutscene artist, so maybe if u needed any of that, i could offer something?

... Before i jump on board though, just out of curiousity, how does the team communicate?
And how many people do u have working on the team?
Was wondering when this would appear here. sub~

It was first announced here, actually. But now we're home, home again~
Has the reaction system gotten an update since the previous VC games, cause I have a feeling that most players will just stick to counterattack for every character just to make the battles end slightly quicker if it hasn't.
