You can create your character in the start. You are caught and accused of the murder of Sir Edmund. A trial happens which determines whether you are set free or whether you end up in Jail. Being as you aren't the one who did it, it becomes a search to find the true murderer, and the feud between the temple and the palace.

Being a roguelike, a lot of the elements are randomized. Where you go, what items you find in chests, how many chests appear in a floor, what items are sold in shops, all of that is randomized. While the areas you go to are randomized, the maps are hand designed with custom tiles.

In battle, you can move up to the enemy. Depending on what armor and what weapon you have will determine how many steps you can take and how long your weapon range is. You can hire a mercenary to join you temporarily, though they may leave after you fight the boss of the area.

You can move around up to the amount of steps you have. Press Z to bring up the attack cursor. If the enemy is in range, you can select them to attack. X to cancel out.

Press X while its your turn to bring up the submenu. You can use an item or spell (unless you have already attacked/used an item or spell in that turn), Pass your turn, Leave the battle (if you're as far south in the battlefield as you can go or have defeated all the enemies), or view the enemy names.

You can hire a helper into battle too. So you go first, then your ally if you have one, then the enemies go.

This is a 7 day Roguelike done for an event!

A sample playthrough of some of the game is up if you're curious about how it's like before you try.

Oh and if you manage to beat the game, it'd be nice if you can let me know what equipment/level and guest you had when you did so! It would be nice for balancing and curiosity purposes

It is, just have to wait for the pending download!
Now I get to complain that Ocean doesn't "get" roguelikes and is a complete disgrace to the genre!
I keep crashing on the name selection screen at the beginning. ): Not sure what's causing it, because it doesn't always seem to happen at the exact same moment (I have yet to be able to finish typing my name before it crashes, though).

Ah wow, that doesn't sound good. Does it give any error message in particular?
I see that you snuck Archeia's name in the game!
I believe I found a glitch with the final battle in the abandoned castle--you can make it so that all the enemies stop moving.
I made a little video to demonstrate what was happening. It's a little laggy, but I hope it helps.

Yeah I wonder why he doesn't move, but for the enemies you just sort of cheesed their AI out for that. It's a weird bug, will have to look into that. He seemed to move okay when I tried it! Might be something silly I overlooked. Thanks!

Nay, it's just the general 'blah blah blah had an error and had to close' windows error message each time.

@Ketsumio: Awesome, glad you liked it then! :D

@Aurelia: Yeah this is weird! I will have to look into it as at the moment it seems like an uncommon error but it'd be good to find out if there's a fix!
I played through this, neat little game for the time. I'll be more detailed in a review... (so far I've reviewed every RM game I've played through to the end, might as well keep that up)

It's a pretty good attempt at a roguelike the only qualms I really have with it is the combat system itself, why doesn't the turn automaticly end when I've done the actions I have available. And the fights themselves are so damn slow.

Well I wanted you to decide whether you should move after you do a command, and not just end after you attack/use a spell or item. Or maybe you can leave the battle if you decide after that that the enemy still didn't die and you haven't to already be at the edge of the battlefield. But yeah I do see that point as well.

Probably the Plate armors fault for the slower battles, but I think maybe having less enemies could have helped as well.

Increasing the move speed to something closer to instant and having turns auto-end would be the two biggest thing. There's nothing wrong with low movement range, it just takes forever to watching it all animate.

Oh actually, yeah that's a good idea. The move speed and frequency was low so I tried with a higher value and it's much smoother. That and I have a bug to fix so I gotta reupload after that...

Which I did. Will still work on some stuff though!

wow...this may be the only rpg maker game with a in game customization!

: O
no walking animation or slaves slots!?

spells are ugly even if you don't have them you see them in battle

sigh...there's way WAY to many battle areas....need to take a break! get to a town!

FINALLY a town!

tsk was hoping the "guard" would be Ai controlled :/

when using a item in the menu it shouldn't change screens, makes it a pain when trying to use multiple items

adele awards hard work and by that i mean putting your life ont eh line for no reason with cheese cake!?! adding that your a noble!
or dear shes gonna be ma slave when thsi adventures done!

: ( i want to give the poor girl in town soem money : (

all hail the Colichemarde!

couldn't kill all the enemies in the final area! had to be grimy and scrounge my way to the final boss!
running out of healing items didn't help
recommend using spells/move increase in 3rd dungeon melle gets owned!

Overall
This was a decent game but the extensive dungeons ruined it for me
theres 3 dungeons total having multiple areas per dungeon which range from 3-5
3 should of been max
as not only can it be harsh on supplies if your not careful
its really just wasting time for no reason

honestly...i would not really recommend this
the storys meh
the battles are fun at first but at some point you may get tired of them due to too many encounters
even tho the system is interesting and unique

Ocean has some great ideas but id say in the games ive played of his,a weak part for me is the stories
lacking detail and information, deep scenes,a unique atmosphere ect

id say try it for the battle system but for the plot its not worth finishing
whats your reward is for suffering thru it all!? :3

cheesecake!
Basic tactics RPG. No free heals and limited items means that you will have to play a defensive strategy. Ran into some sanic fast robot that took over 5 shots and still didnt die, and it was only a random encounter. I could probably survive if I used healing items but battles were getting kind of repetitive. Pretty good system for a 7 day game.
