Reniat returns to her home village after years away at boarding school to find that the village is nearly deserted. The mine that the village depended on heavily for boosting its economy and tourism has been overrun by monsters and no one has bothered doing anything about it. Having trained as an adventurer, she decides to see what she can do about reviving the town and making a name for herself in the world.

Homework Salesman is a life simulation game with an emphasis on dungeon exploration, completing quests, crafting new equipment and items, and befriending the people in town. The game takes inspiration from the Rune Factory and Atelier series.

Features
  • Befriend each villager by talking to them every day and giving them gifts. Higher friendship levels allow you to learn each NPC's personal story and can also gain you access to new shop items, skills, hidden goodies, and more.

  • Unique items means that each item in the game is treated as a separate object. You can rename equipment, find rare versions of them, upgrade and repair them (weapons have durability), and even enchant them. You can have several iron swords each with different enchantments on them.

  • Six unique crafts: Cooking, Smithing, Tailoring, Enchanting, Alchemy, and Construction.

  • Quests are divided into two categories: story quests that propel your adventure forward, and side quests that are procedurally generated.

  • Features a world encounter system where you can find random events in field maps or dungeons, such as traveling merchants or a bandit who'll offer to spare you for money (or you can kill him)

  • Enemy encounters and (most) treasure chests are randomly placed on maps. You typically won't find the same monster encounter in the same dungeon spot every time. Treasure chest contents are randomly drawn from a pool of items appropriate for the zone you're in. You can also find unique weapons with randomized names, stats, and enchantments.

Update Log:
1/27/14 - v1.2
- The last two bosses in the game will now put up an anti-frazzle shield if they get hit successfully by frazzle three times. This shield will dissipate after 2 turns. Note that it doesn't count just frazzling the boss, it will count if you frazzle any boss minions in the fight.
- The Treasure Hunter couple will now appear in the ending cut-scene if you saw their world event.
- Fixed bugs related to Liffely's cooking delivery service.
- Fixed bugs related to the 2nd Colorous Cave quest.
- Fixed a bug where if you somehow manage to defeat the 3rd floor bosses on the same day as defeating Plutonus, the magic shop NPCs would not move into town.
- Added several easter eggs, most of which are references to early testers and other people in the community.
- You now get a quest telling you what to do next if you defeat a certain field boss after defeating the last boss of the Caves for the first time.
- Fixed cut-scene bugs related to the Westerlys move in quest.

- Other miscellaneous bug fixes that I don't recall at the moment.

hey i registered to rmn just so i could report a few bugs i've found. if other people have mentioned them already, sorry U m U

first, on the lower levels of the cave the ore that spawns in the wall jerks around as it animates. secondly, the dogs in the area beyond the cave (with the windmills and beholders) can pretty much walk through all the tiles. thirdly, for one quest, specifically the one where you have to make 5 dough, it told me it was for one npc (the older witch) but it turned out to be for gunsqueek? and then after i gave him the dough it won't let me talk to the woman at the inn to finish it. finally, after i got down to the 4th floor to the bone demon whathaveyou guy who kidnaps your brother, i won against him, he took my ap etc, i came home, and then before i went to rescue my brother, i went to the adventurers guild and saw the first bit of a cutscene that i'm pretty sure i wasn't supposed to see. it involved me and my father and the people at the hero's guild talking about how i had gotten to the bottom level and defeated the captain. which i hadn't. it then flipped over to the bounty for robert part of the way through, but my original quest to explore the three lower levels of the dungeon has disappeared without me completing it. :S

i'm not sure if i can continue now since i hadn't actually gotten down to those levels yet, or what, but i hope it wasn't game breaking. anyway, apart from these this is a awesome game! thanks for reading o u o

(these bugs are all in version 1.0j)

Yeah others have run into similar issues, can you PM me your save file? Did you try downloading the latest to see if it would fix it?

Thanks for the tips. It gives me an excuse to increase my enchanting skill level.

Np you actually dont even have to level enchanting very much to gain access to fire enchants. The real nuggets in enchanting are the ability boosting enchants. They dont appear to be very impressive but if you get level 2 enchants in 2 to 3 slots per piece of equipment then you can get a very impressive boost. It costs about 200k per character to really deck out with good enchants but it is so worth it in the long run.

hmm, I don't see any number, like how much gold I have, or how much Hp I have. I installed all the font but it didn't change anything :S
bump?
Edit: In menu there is absolutely no number, but when I complete a quest or foraging I can see numbers like 50 xp received or 2 iron ore.
Edit2: name of 2 of my skills don't show up now, (I used them a lot, so probably its because this 2 skills are ready to level up).
Now can you let me know witch font used for skills that are going to level up and showing numbers in menu
isn't it the newest version according to the little update log up top? D:
i will send you my save file right away

also found something else, when you walk into the patch of woods just above the town from the left hand side, if an item has spawned right in front of you (so you can't take a step in either direction) and it's unremoveable (wood and me with no axe), you can't go back to the previous map and you're stuck there. and then i tried to warp home and the game crashed

also also if you use a enhancement but you don't have anything to put it into it gets used up anyhow

also also also rainy weather mist doesn't show up on the map that's the entrance to the second dungeon in the north woods with the beholders ^__^;;

also also also if your brother is kidnapped then the other young boy in town can appear in your father's room, looking through his trunk and talking to thin air

wow i probably just need to start making a list for these and then send them all when i'm done ahah, also also also also x10 you can pass through tiles that shouldn't be passable here aaand here

---here and below is stuff from the newest release--
warping back home from hitting 0ap on the storm weather day causes fog overlay to stay in your room until you open a window
fleeing from a beholder doesn't let you be able to pass over it while it's opacity is low. got stuck in an area as it was blocking me from moving so had to warp home.

I have no idea why the fonts aren't showing up for you. They're included in the Fonts folder.

You can try looking for these:

FontName = "YanoneKaffeesatz", "Yanone Kaffeesatz Regular", "VL Gothic"
FontAltName = "Grenouille", "Grenouille Regular"

The fonts I listed above are the only fonts that are used in the game.

Well I test the game on another PC and it worked fine (with or without the font installed), but I downloaded a lot of games from RMN and non have this problem, I just don't know what can I do.

anyway thanks for replays.

What differences are there in the operating system between the two computers? Do you have a different language pack installed?
meisam

Sounds like it's the East Asian language pack. Could you try uninstalling or disabling it temporarily to see if it makes a difference?

LOL I can't believe this, it was in the first page of "regional and language option"
when I change the preference to English (after installing and uninistalling language packs multiple times), I can see the numbers now. many thanks :).

I have a theory, since in my country we write from left to right, I guess the number showed up on the other side of menu bar witch is not visible. But I don't know enough about Ace to understand why it didn't happen to my own project.

BTW I was surprised, most of game mechanic in this game are almost identical to what I will implement in my project. So congratulation you beat me to that ;).

Edit: I see too much harvest moon in this game :P

The more Harvest Moon/Rune Factory/crafting style games the better. Hope you are enjoying what you're playing so far!

THEY ARE MAGIC WATER LILIES.
Thats right! Just say that it is magic and you no longer have to provide a base of logic for it anymore. Its utterly brilliant and simple.
Okay better explanation: they're plastic floating water lillies~
So will we be able to work with plastic in the game now? It must be a pretty fascinating material for a medieval style society.

LOL, hmm I go for magical Lilies :P
who is Horton? I am suppose to deliver some dough to him, but I didn't even meet him (I guess I should play more adventures rather than craftius!)
