Reniat returns to her home village after years away at boarding school to find that the village is nearly deserted. The mine that the village depended on heavily for boosting its economy and tourism has been overrun by monsters and no one has bothered doing anything about it. Having trained as an adventurer, she decides to see what she can do about reviving the town and making a name for herself in the world.

Homework Salesman is a life simulation game with an emphasis on dungeon exploration, completing quests, crafting new equipment and items, and befriending the people in town. The game takes inspiration from the Rune Factory and Atelier series.

Features
  • Befriend each villager by talking to them every day and giving them gifts. Higher friendship levels allow you to learn each NPC's personal story and can also gain you access to new shop items, skills, hidden goodies, and more.

  • Unique items means that each item in the game is treated as a separate object. You can rename equipment, find rare versions of them, upgrade and repair them (weapons have durability), and even enchant them. You can have several iron swords each with different enchantments on them.

  • Six unique crafts: Cooking, Smithing, Tailoring, Enchanting, Alchemy, and Construction.

  • Quests are divided into two categories: story quests that propel your adventure forward, and side quests that are procedurally generated.

  • Features a world encounter system where you can find random events in field maps or dungeons, such as traveling merchants or a bandit who'll offer to spare you for money (or you can kill him)

  • Enemy encounters and (most) treasure chests are randomly placed on maps. You typically won't find the same monster encounter in the same dungeon spot every time. Treasure chest contents are randomly drawn from a pool of items appropriate for the zone you're in. You can also find unique weapons with randomized names, stats, and enchantments.

You can just start adding any info you'd like, item lists, skill lists, etc. Whatever you have knowledge/experience on from your playthrough.

I'm going to focus on adding stuff that only the game authors would know/have (such as character bios/portraits).

But yeah, the character section is currently incomplete.
Buyaah! I did beat 3 star beholder at Lunarea Plains. I was so dissapointed that NOTHING interesting happened after the fight :( .. No interesting dialogue/reward/drop. Or did something happen somewhere?

This was my gear setup:

Reniat:
Mage Staff (enchanted with 3 x Dodge lvl 2)
Steel Shield (enchanted with 3 x Dodge lvl 2)
Steelplate (enchanted with 3 x Dodge lvl 2)
Iron Helmet (enchanted with 3 x Dodge lvl 2)
Iron gauntlets (enchanted with 3 x Dodge lvl 2)

Xebec:
+10 Steel Sword (enchanted with 3 x Dodge lvl 2)
+10 Greatbow (enchanted with 3 x Dodge lvl 2)
Iron Helmet (enchanted with 3 x Dodge lvl 2)
Steelplate (enchanted with 3 x Dodge lvl 2)
Iron Gauntlets (enchanted with 3 x Dodge lvl 2)

Eagen:
+10 Steel Sword (enchanted with 3 x Dodge lvl 2)
+10 Greatbow (enchanted with 3 x Dodge lvl 2)
Steel Helmet (enchanted with 3 x Dodge lvl 2)
Chain Mail (enchanted with 3 x Dodge lvl 2)
Iron Gauntlets (enchanted with 3 x Dodge lvl 2)

Ankaba:
Mage Staff (enchanted with 3 x Dodge lvl 2)
Steel Shield (enchanted with 3 x Dodge lvl 2)
Yellow Ribbon (enchanted with 3 x Dodge lvl 2)
Mage¨s Robe (enchanted with 3 x Dodge lvl 2)
Fur Gloves (enchanted with 3 x Dodge lvl 2)

vs Beholder i would take iron gloves/helmet and chain mail over Ankaba¨s gear without even considering but sadly she is not proficient. You want physical defence not magic and magic defence (Ankaba got one shotted so bad that should have used totem instead of steel shield)

I had one Elunium unused since i wanted to see first on who it would make difference in terms of defence. No-one had 4th slot on any piece of gear and I could have tried to get Steel Helm also on Xebec and Reniat and if I remember right from previous game there is also better medium armor than Chain Mail available through Maid so this is far from optimal (upgrades only on weapons). I had saved/searched masses of Blumanto Petals and crafted Life Essence potions as many as I could. Also the fact that every single character had stacked 60% evasion played minor role. Shocking effects are as powerful as they usually are against single bosses.

EDIT: oh and party level 15

Congrats! So the strategy we talked about really worked ... Wait a minute, you didn't use the tome for Ankaba? I guess the beholder can be considered an extremely tough enemy that is somewhat common but not a boss. Maybe they'll change it when Chapter 2 gets made to give better rewards ...
Is there something special about Tomes + Ankaba that i dont know? O.o
I have considered tomes just like staves except that staves give more magic (damage) whereas tomes give more spell points. I would use tome over acolyte staff but Mage staff gives so much more magic that it is hard to resist.

EDIT: by the way if you didnt know that most of my gear comes from maid. You cannot buy/craft Greatbow, steelplate, steel helmet, mage staff, mage robes but once you level Maid up she can. I bought her as soon as possible but it was at Day 61 when she finally decided to craft Greatbow i longed most.
oh my gosh this was a great game. Played it through 2 times and almost starting over again. That is a tough task for RPGmaker game to have so much re-play value.

If I remember correctly, the tome also gives a bigger boost to magic and magic defense than the staff. I didn't know about the maid, since you probably need to her craft many things before she'll be at a level that she can craft those items you mention. BTW, you did find the necklace, didn't you?
I did found necklace and it is indeed nice necklace (perhaps the best accessory in this game) but its not good vs Beholder. Necklace protects vs magic and Beholder is 100% physical. This is definitely not overall gearset but designed to kill and survive Beholder. Magic defence and agility are worthless vs it and thats why I dont mind at all using the heaviest armor there is on Reniat. She can act last with Xebec and it doesnt matter.

Tome gives bigger boost to magic defence and spell points. Staff has more magic and it has more durability (40/40 vs 60/60) which is important on long resource fights. Staves I`m using are from maid so you propaply havent seen it. Maid takes really long time before she learns to craft useful items.

Yeah, the first staff was weaker in magic, so your explanation now makes sense. You should check the wiki to see if you have missed something. The link is in the game description.
I was wondering if you guys made the sprites or if there's a generator for the DS style sprites? :)

We're very good at chopping up sprites and smashing them together to have a whole new sprite to play with~
Beholders were meant to scare players away from the Runalea Plains until after they had conquered the mines lol. that's why they don't drop anything. Also, they disappear once you clear the mines.

Yeah I figured that but some players might take that too as ultimate challenge. But i gotta say that it is more than enough if all behemoths dissappear after clearing the mines and I can still show my kill count: 1 from beastionary.
Hey could someone help me. What is the trigger to get black orb recipe from enchanter after beating captain again. I have played this 3 times through and got it everytime but now.

Millinter even says at party that come to her shop tomorrow but there is not event this time. I loaded and talked to everyone at party multiple times but no effect. Slept extra day to see if that help but no.

This time i killed Beholder and both dragons around Captain before killing him so I could have kill count on beastionary but now i cant get black orbs :(
I have saved so I`m very afraid that I have ruined it somehow.
You just have to trigger Milly's first character event, so raise your friendship with her.

Thank you sir. Didnt know it was friendship event since she told me to visit next day at party and almost always it has triggered then. I must say once more that this is the best rpgMaker game i have played. It takes a lot to make me play it through 3 times and still be interested.

Man i have so many technical questions that i wish i knew you in person :(
Some of the biggest ones:

1) What increases bag size? Adventure level? I was at 25 on first clear and 20 on 2nd and 3rd.

2) Any tips catching that divine/shadow trainer on colorous cave who is selling some restoration spell for 1.5 million? I have seen it twice but didnt have gold back then. Need to know if it revives fallen / restores mana / repairs weapons (propaply not the last one).

3) When you can buy magetrainer at dojo? (again something i dont have but had during first 2 runs lol). This is no big deal since there is nothing unique if I remember correctly. I have bought the merchant but not magetrainer which is a bit weird i think.

4) What determines when squee start buying stuff for 25% more? Is it about how many things you sell (many carrots?) or how much of value you sell?

Oh and you are propaply doing something about the problem of: Colorous Cave considered as town + dead ends (where you cant warp out anymore) before releasing chapter 2.

The 1.5 million Spell can be found in the dojo too, if I recall correctly.
And the 1.5m spell is currently bugged so don't buy it just yet. I'll be releasing a patch soon that fixes it and a few other things.

cool. What i should do to make it appear in Jarrell¨s selection? I have bought the extension to dojo but there is still no magetrainer for sale.
Just some quick patch progress:
Right now I've fixed the majority of bugs that people have reported to me (some bugs I'm not going to fix right now as they're really minor but don't have obvious solutions - such as events spawning on top of other events). If you've found new bugs or grammar/spelling issues, be sure to PM them to me ASAP so I can get them covered first.

I'm currently working on updating the manual, by adding all of the status's.
I'm also working on adding NPC dialogue for after rescuing Bertram, defeating Captain Colorous (first time), and clearing the caves.

A few things of note that are added so far in the update:
- You can now recruit Ankaba in the post-game, she'll be found in the Runalea Plains waterfall area. Previously she disappeared completely once you cleared the mines.
- All new music tracks from Tarranon that will be replacing many of the existing music
- You can now delete items in the storage menus by pressing Shift.

Things not making it into the patch and subsequently will be in a future patch or Chapter 2:
- Xebec's character events
- Jarrell's character events
- Yeardley's 2nd character event
- Keslin's 2nd character event

I am aiming to release this update later today, but that depends on whether I can finish the above items that I'm not done with yet.
Okay new update is live!
