Horror RPG, winner of the 2005 Misao for Best Atmosphere.
You and two friends find yourselves lost in the woods one day and decide to seek refuge in a nearby mansion. Certainly nothing could go wrong; people do that sort of thing all the time, don't they? But what you are about to discover is that this is no ordinary mansion, and its inhabitants are no ordinary people... Welcome to The Longing Ribbon. (Not Rocky Horror.)

A feature! Why thank you. And this game is only 5 years old now! ^_^ Thanks to everyone who has given reviews and feedback over the years. Seems like ages since the day I Frankensprited the RTP villager girl's head onto Britt Brady's trenchcoat boy. I'd be the first to agree that the quality of this game goes downhill after chapter 5. For the first time, I'll admit publicly that I made it up as I went along and also I think the ending boss is lame. But it was a question of either finishing the game shoddily, or not finishing it at all. However, I remain unrepentant about the "waterfall" area. You have to remember Don Miguel to understand. It is a tribute to him. Thanks again!

Man, I remember playing this back in the day. Boy was it ever an eerie game!

I am happy the eerieness did stick with you.
I just came across the game and I downlaod it and I must say the atomsphere is chilling. But I do have one problem. Its hard reading the text. Do you have any file or something that can fix that up?

Thank you so much! The font is much clear now :D
I don't know if there's anyone who still cares anymore (no posts since October of last year! D:) but I thought I'd share something that might be useful for some people. OK you know that area in Chapter IV preceding the fight with *spoilers*possessed Sara*end spoilers*. It's practically a treasure trove of HP and to a lesser extent MP upgrades! Problem is of course 1) it's large 2) it's confusing 3) it loops back on itself (see number 2) 4) random battles with demonic IKEA products are near-CONSTANT. Because of these reasons many people probably have a very hard time finding most of the upgrades or don't bother and just try to run for the stairs (even in the game's walkthrough the creator says he didn't even bother taking this area into account when calculating the stats for the enemies' difficulty curve, however I find these upgrades to be EXTREMELY beneficial and will give you a hell of a lot less of a hard time afterward... even finding most of the power-ups Sara I found to be a pretty tough fight so I can't really imagine fighting her withOUT these!). However I have, with the power of MS Paint and PrtSc, put together a "map" of sorts that is extremely crude and could use a LOT of work to look more, ahem, "professional." However what's important is that I highlighted all the areas where the upgrades are (as far as I could find there are 8 usable paintings and 4 usable bookshelves - am I missing anything?), circled in red of course. No, not every single space is mapped out, but what's important is that the ones that'll net you benefits are, so, take a look and good luck to everyone playing the game!

Playing through a second time. I just found the "truck". I can't believe I missed it the first time through. Wat?

Haw! I don't even remember where that is. Good 4 you. :)

And thanks for the map! I guess I could always go into the editor and find all the events again but I don't even have RM2K any more.
This game has very good atmosphere, and I like it! I guess the story falls a bit short, but it was overall a very entertaining game.

Shucks! Your other comment was a year ago! Well I'm glad you came back :D
Such nice story, but totally ruined by really, but really STUPID battle system. I have been playing the game for an hour and everything was fine. Then there was part where I picked some dreamy items and boom, demon appeared. In battle there is NO HP OR MP INFORMATION AT ALL! So I began to attack the sucker and after three hits I was dead. WTF!? I tried the battle several times, then tried to go back to house just to realize it is not possible. I took the effort to pick up all upgrades during play and I still screwed up. If the first enemy was like that, what will be the others? Probably even worse. I could start again and try to find more upgrades, but why should I bother. I was pretty pissed off by this, have you ever heard term "balanced gameplay"? Apparently not.

WOW, YOU REALLY HATE THIS SHIT. Well it's ten years old so I make no apologies. Why not turn off combat using the super code?

Well, how should I know about something like that? It is not written anywhere. Maybe I got carried away a bit, but still .. the game is almost unplayable while battling, that's for sure.

Well the code was originally meant as a "hidden" feature for people who look at the readme since it's buried in the readme.txt somewhere. But now I don't really care. Basically open the menu and choose "End Game" and then "No" three or five times without taking a step on the map AND THEN NO MORE BATTLES YAY

You know, designing the game with that in mind, despite being a hidden feature, is actually pretty cool.
This game is great, despite the fact that friggin chapter 4 boss made me restart like 2 or 3 times XD I've beaten it though, plan on doing an LP soon too.
