Welcome to Alice in Wonderland meets Inception.

There was once a lonely cat, who happened upon a fantastical story-
but she didn't really know these people, or what they could do.
So she built her own version, and so tagged along a purple cat.
This is Lucidity- and yet it is not.
This is Lucidity: False.

VX ACE Nugget Crash Course Contest Version:

You don't know who you are. You don't know how you got here. Somehow you've gained a permanently pissed off rabbit and an androgynous cat as pals, too. What's going on?
Good question, snookums.

Lucidity takes place in a snowy dream world populated by nasty critters who want to eat you for lunch. Solution? Eat them for lunch instead. Three different ways to play, a mystery to unravel, and a surly scythe-wielding vampire Rabbit.

Hatter doesn't have many abilities, but he can Mimic the enemy's skills.
He's also nasty if he uses his Release technique, which sends him into an uncontrollable violent rampage.
Rabbit has to sacrifice HP to use any of his skills, but he can attack twice and Vampire enemies to replenish HP.
Cheshire can eat things! It's also good at healing and inflicting status effects. And even if it doesn't eat them on the first try, it tends to deal a lot of damage anyway...

Finalized...

Ok, so this game is Lucidity: False.

It's masquerading as the real Lucidity, but the real Lucidity is much different and much less gay in the literal sense.

I've started working on the real Lucidity (there are some screens) but for now, imagine a terrible fan named Cheshire grabbed Lucidity's plot, dumbed it down and wrote herself into it. That's what happened here.

Also Cheshire by this concept is a yaoi fan.

It does kinda make sense from that standpoint, even if I'm really bullshitting and more or less I'M CHESHIRE but whatever

I'm not working on the real Lucidity for the moment, but as it stands Lucidity: False is complete.

To finish this off, have a Lex redesign:

I am so playing this the instant a download comes out.

Subbed :3
I'm hoping this wins the contest, it seems too epic not to. :o

Right, loods good.
Hey there, downloaded this and gave it a try, and wanted to say good job! It's well put together, I really enjoyed the dialogue between the characters. However, I did come across some bugs, which I will put underneath a hide thing here, since they potentially contain some spoilers:

intro text Am I dreaming shifted too far to
the right, cutting off the ?

We'll get to them eventually same problem

tell me about yourself same problem

rabbit text in intro, "i cant remember anything either" second line goes off screen.

rabbit intro text fantastic, goes off screen a couple times.

in a tutorial battle, cheshire has rabbit's face in dialogue

possible typo in dialogue for hatter at beginning of level 2, saying remember your conselling, possibly meaning counseling?

rabbits text beginning level 2 goes off screen again.

hatters text right after goes off.

in front of three chairs, snowy precipice,
hatters text goes over.

dream core level 2, hatters text goes over.
same with rabbits.

level 3, at rabbits grave, several text boxes go over.

level 3 dream core, hatters text goes over.

level 4 beginning, hatter and rabbit text goes over.

level 4 dream core, rabbits text goes over, along with hatters.

level 5 town dialogue, all 3 have text going over.

level 6 dream core dialogue, goes over a bit.

after waking up, Lex's dialogue goes over, along with blanks.

in the room you wake up in, you can move one square too far up into the bookcase.

in the skill rotation part of the menu, blank has no graphic. sasme goes for equipment.

in the castle hallway, both lex and blank have dialogue that goes over, and there are some spacing issues in blank's dialogue.

While talking to Alice, Blank's dialogue goes over. So do several of Alice's lines.

Question: Does your font look like this?

or Arial?

I forgot the font file! haaaaa

So, all of the bugs with the dialogue being cut off are because of the font. I'll reupload with the correct font file and a fix to the non-cutoff bugs.
Ah, that makes sense! It was definitely a different font than the one in that screen shot.
Yeah I was wondering about the font too, will play it once you upload the new version (or font file) :)
>> You can bypass the Lost path...
When Rabbit tells you he thinks you should go 'This way' (The path to the left.. 'Lost path').. >> you can go up instead, and get to the end of that stage by walking through the town. Not sure if that was intentional or not?

No, that wasn't intentional. Bypassing the Lost Path means you miss out on two of the final scenes in the lead up to the end game- including Rabbit figuring out his own name.

Since I don't want anyone else pulling that kind of stunt, I'll have to upload a fix.
Guh. 1.d coming up.
>> Yeah. I took the other path after I waltzed through the empty area and was like "Hey. Something seems off here."

Anyways, Glad I could help =) *thumbs up-a*

>> P.s. This game was suuuuuper fun. I especially enjoyed the character interactions as it continued onwards.

P.P.s. >> And the battle music sucker punched me with how awesome it was. I can't believe I forgot to remark on that.

I'm glad you enjoyed the game! I don't have the best reputation for picking music, especially battles (glares at Darkseed) so I wasn't 100% about the battle theme, so it's great to hear you liked it! ^^
I agree on the battle music lol it happened to get stuck in my head for awhile because of how epic it was. :o
I Absolutely Loved it... My Things that could make it better is that it becomes MUCH. MUCH more long, and 2nd. a Lvling system, so you don't have the same skills 24/7 and i found it weird how you couldn't equip the 1 piece of Equipment in the game.
Hey Kyrsty, How'd you get the hp cost to work with the skill cost manager? I think I set it up right, but for some reason it doesn't deplete hp when I use a skill. :o

<hpcost: 10>

in the skill comments. Or whatever the tag was. The skill cost should show up in the skills menu, like it does in Lucidity.

Have you checked the order of your scriptS? There might be something conflicting with skill cost manager.

Try testing it out in a new project and seeing if it works there. If not there's something up in your own game.

Heh, I got it to work now..I'm ashamed to say this, but it was because I didn't change the text of the cost. :p It's working fine now though~
Loved it.Will you be making sequel of this game since the story left me wanting more out of it.5/5.
