Thanks.

Yes, not much to say about the game. I got onto the topic of how VX stands up against 2000 and 2003.

If you take this one as an example though, don't you see loads of VX games that look just like it? I think there's a certain amount of individual aesthetic choice which has disappeared.

Also, everything got really square.

@Marcus

Yes this post has nothing to do with this game, but i jsut need to say: You have the second best name ever.
Guys, this is the second highest buzzing game at the moment. Why are you letting this happen? :(
There are two XP games I'm planning on finishing. When I can retrieve data from my old laptop o.o
I'm planning on switching to rmxp once I'm done with my current projects. Won't be awhile sadly..but after using it for a lil' bit I've found it so much easier to do several things like mapping in general~ :)
XP was amazing, it made Vacant Sky possible, but I've grown to love VX's chibi style.
I hated VX at first, I was like "So world maps and that's it?" but no, just really small tilesets...
But yeah, I'm gonna have two maps for this town because I hate a town being just one map and that's it.
If you can do both on the same chipset it might give a feeling of epic scale....but then again it could give a Future tower helper feel too.

Actually, forget that...you new age VX users don't have to trouble yourselves with a limited number of tiles do you?
I'm not really sold on anything past XP. On the one hand everything looks more detailed but is it really better? I mean no one can really be bothered to modify since it's so hard to meet the same standard, so a lot of VX games and characters have the exact same style.

Pretty good Marcus. See, maps are fine at the size they need to be, but when there's fuck all to a map like 100% of Jomar's maps, there's just no need.
You actually made me laugh out loud. You are so bitterly resentful of this game.

That picture I left the link to is the actual map picture from the game, that's why it's shit quality. When you get it in the game you can zoom and scroll in a rudimentary way.

Without a map I found people either saw it as a challenge and got really involved or said screw it and stopped playing. So better to lead a few by the hand and keep more people playing I spose.
Fair enough. I'm deciding whether to make Cloud Town in my game on massive map or split it into two (the main town and the rural area that has a dungeon in it).

Town's actually are okay..I've seen quite a few large towns so I guess I should've included them into the okay part on the large maps as well! xD

That looks pretty good Marcus, it does have a bit of a silent hill vibe to it~

NO map should ever be this huge unless it's a "World Map"..other than that, never make maps larger than sin.

Oh dear <.<
A map in my game is 500x500 and it's not a world map.
It's a silent hill style town that you're supposed to spend
a lot of the game orienteering around.

Obviously, there are going to be more houses added to flesh it out and
add some more exploration factor.

I wanted people to feel alone and vulnerable, walking the streets of
a deserted town... Like I felt in Silent Hill.

I hope you don't think this is bad...(I think it works but you'll cry blasphemy)
What's at the end of the two bottom hallways? I can already imagine the rage from the LPers when they try to walk all the way to the end and find nothing.

I'll be honest. While the maps are horrible, the storylines are badly told and everything else is just unbearably dire, the story IDEAS are pretty good.
Ideas are of course just ideas, and while they make look good in ones own mind, it takes alot of time to get it together on paper..or in a game~

(Okay, maybe not "that" much time but, still~) :D I recommend getting someone who at least knows what, and what not to do in designing maps, a person who can speak the language you want your game to be in to a degree to do the writing, and just..yeah this map sucks in a couple of ways.. I can say one good thing about this map though, and that is that it hasn't become infected by the "It a Piano" virus!

There is nothing left for me to say anymore at this point except that, because of jomar, I have lost the will to live.
I'll start preparing caskets for all of us~ xD

Seriously, that map is so big, it's where god lives.
Even Odin would look around with wide eyes and say, "Dayum son, Valhalla ain't got shit on dis crib!"

Yes, Odin really talks like that.

LOL Odins in G-Unit.

This is simply brilliant. It's up there with Skyrim.
Of course I'm joking, this is horrible.
Well, I've only played Morrowind and Oblivion, so idk what Skyrim looks like yet, but I have to agree that this is quite bad. Your mapping skills are slowly, actually make that very slowly improving, but you are getting better Jomar's mind company.
