I didn't really want to give away the premise because the opening cutscene was intended to mislead players on exactly who they would be playing as, but as we have to submit our contest entries via RMN I guess I'll have to give away what it's about.
Steve is about a zombie. A very special zombie. He's destined for great things, that do not in any way involve plants or rocket launchers. Yes, he eats brains, but he's also a very sensitive guy and volunteers at a soup kitchen twice a week.
Having acknowledged that the biggest names in the community are making games for this that look like they should be on shop shelves, and there's no possible way for me to win, I went with a "joke" game. I hope that, if nothing else, you get a laugh out of it.

Subscribed! This reminds me of a game idea I once started developing in rm2k3, though the humor I attempted wasn't as fourth wall breaking. Though in that game too you had a zombie as the main character!
ps. the beginning of the scene involving the king was pretty clever, though I'm not sure if it was coincidental!

That was actually something that occurred to me literally while I was creating the scene; it was pretty much completely adlibbed on the spot.
When I decided to make Steve turn to show his zombie side, I realised that he'd be facing away from the king--so naturally the king wouldn't be able to see what he was looking at. :P

So I only clicked on this game because it was called plainly "Steve" and thought that was odd in itself.

Glad you liked it Ratty! I still need to get around to expanding this one into a more complete game at some point.
