UPDATE!!!

This game is cancelled but I am working on a new game which you can see here:
http://rpgmaker.net/games/5706/

Whilst out looking for adventure, a chance encounter with a villain from your past soon turns into the quest of a lifetime!

Endless Horizon is a project I am currently working on using RPG Maker XP. My goal is to combine everything I love about RPG’s and others into my own game. Will it be any good? Or will it just be a colossal mess? You decide.

I’m aiming to get a very short demo put up on here soon so if you like what you see so far, please stay tuned! APAPAPA CHECK IT OUT!

Interesting. The Earthbound (or Mother, for purists?) influence really shows through.

edit: ...so much microsoft paint.

Really love those maps, subscribing.
Pretty fun so far. Just beat the first boss. I'm wanting to interact with that church group. Is that happy happy village? I forget the whole blue cult city name. :/

I can barely see the text in these posts! Anyway, I might give this a spin. I'm not making much progress on my own game anyway.

The text color is probably a property of the CSS of the page, but I'll be damned if I know which one!

Anyway, first impressions. Hide-tag ho!

I'm not a fan of this intro. Scrolling the map (Maybe it's a panorama that's being looped?) while the presumptive protagonist has a couple of lines isn't terribly exciting. The Dogsaucer landing sequence is fine, though how the first fight happens is kinda weird. Also, what is the title of this game? On here, it's Endless Horizon. On the game itself, it's AGG - The War Against the Feast, though I could be reading it wrong. Anyway, might want to change one of these to match the other!

Encounters seem pretty tough and frequent. Call me crazy, but I'm not a fan of these five different battle themes, or however many there are. I know Earthbound had different battle songs for various situations, or what-not, and I know that you draw much inspiration from that game. However, and I don't mean to sound mean, but the big difference between this game and Earthbound is quaint humor. You do attempt this with your enemies staring into space, and similar flavor text, but those enemies still have an attack action rather than doing nothing. I'm not sure how you try to pull off the flavor text in this game, but I do respect the effort. Anyway, if you want to have a more Earthbound feel, I definitely suggest having your encounters touch-based. Coding the enemies to react to the player's presence is possible, but something I would not personally attempt.

There are some text cut-offs I saw. Since you're using the default font, the F2 text preview is your friend.

This is a total aside, but why is everyone calling the player "Waldo"? His name is obviously, "Yourself"! Not that I'm suggesting that you should use the "\n" modifier, but I find it odd that the names don't match up. Unless this is some running gag that's completely over my head. That's a possibility.

It's actually black on white now, at least for me.

Hey thanks for taking the time to play the demo! The reason for the title differences and what not, is that everything in the game has essentially been remade. From the graphics to the games plot. You probably could have read that in the description if it wasn't all in grey lol. Some elements will remain but I am changing the emphasis from monotonous level grinding to zelda-esque exploring. I just thought it'd be fun to show what I had to start with and how the game is developing. As for the battles in the game, I couldn't really get to grips with the fight system that RPG maker XP uses so I obviously need to improve in this area. I was also thinking about changing the battles to a side on perspective. Well thanks for taking the time to read this!

@chana: The text on the game description is now black-on-white, but these comments are still grey-on-white!

@Imbroglio: Why must I keep using the color tag? WHY? Creature balance is quite difficult. I've my own horror stories, and a few LTs/LPs of my games point this out. As for a side-view battle, I'm sure there's plenty of ways to go about it, if that's the direction you desire to go.

Really sorry that I tinkered with the css. I'm trying to fix this problem
The RTP Arshes and furniture doesn't mesh well with the Earthbound style graphics. Hopefully the final product will remedy this. Not sure about the plot so far, but I'm digging the enemy battlers (especially Snide).
