An attempt that falls short

The Rebellion is obviously a first game. It suffers from bland dialogue, correctness issues, a lack of interesting battles, inconsistency and bad mapping. As such, I'm giving it a very low score - and focusing this review on what this game attempts to do that I like.

First off, you're playing around with event commands - great! You have a lot of people moving around in scenes, and they don't plug up the works or freeze the game. That's good.

The sweeping view of the battlefield was pretty cool! The mapping itself and how spread out everything was wasn't so hot, but you had a good idea and the execution wasn't terrible. It was a fun and quick way to show how things were going and to segue into the battle between princes.

You tried to add some choices. I don't know if they were meant to actually affect the game very much, but they weren't just yes/no. Props for that. Maybe try to make future events change a little (or hell, even a lot) based on the decisions you make.

The game got right into the action. I wasn't actually sucked in due to all of the reasons in the beginning of this review, but hey, you tried out an intro that wasn't lots of scrolling text. Good idea, but needs to be supported by improving other aspects of this game.

Don't be discouraged by this low score. Take your ideas, read a few articles, draft out some dialogue and have somebody proofread it for correctness and to help eliminate blandness, and work on this or a new project. Also, make sure that every NPC can be talked to, or intelligently show that they can't be talked to. It's annoying and inconsistent when only some NPCs can be interacted with.

Did you write a review, or have a one-sided conversation with the game's creator, who's apparently also your young child? "Neato sweeping view of the battlefield, sport! That was really radical! I'm putting that up on the fridge!"

Really, couldn't all that just be in a post? It's very...post-y, and not review-ish at all. I find it to be quite lacking in its review-ishness.

There's no way to give a star rating based indicator of the quality of a game in post format. At least with this review everyone knows what to (and not to) expect from the game at a glance.

I was going to, but I forgot. I think you said everything that needed to be said about it, however.
Why didn't you comment on the title screen

Also I'm not being sarcastic.
I'm glad this review is helpful and informative!
