UPDATE (July 28th, 2013)

Patch 1.5 has been added, and the primary download itself has also been updated to version 1.5.

The latest patch includes all previous fixes as well as a couple of MP3 tweaks to prevent a potential crashing issue.

(June 23rd, 2013)

Well that took a bit longer than anticipated, but the expansion for Super Talking Time Bros 1+2 is complete! Go grab it over here.

We decided to give it its own profile, rather than roll it into this one, since it comes with its own launcher much like STTB1+2 does. It's possible to just extract it to your STTB1+2 folder if you have this game as well, see that page for details.

(April 11th, 2013)

What time is it?

EXPANSION TIME!

But not yet. Though soon! Well, soon-ish. Super Talking Time Bros 2.5: The Last Levels is nearing completion and is in beta test phase. Once it's ready you'll find it here at RMN.

We call it an expansion with a touch of irony since the game is actually at least the size of STTB2, if not a bit larger. Funny how things turn out.

Join the Super Squad as they attempt to escort Kirby back home to Dreamland, only to get sidetracked when Bowser's Space Armada shoots down their transportation. It's Super Squad iiiiiiiinnn spaaaaaaaaaaaaaaace!

Until the game is ready, take a look at the new screenshots showing off some expansiony goodness.

(August 18th, 2012):

The main download has been updated to version 1.3, if you're new here and downloading STTB 1+2 for the first time that's all you need.

(August 15th, 2012):

Patch 1.3 has been added to the downloads page, this contains a fix for the Ending.lvl of STTB2 to correct the player's inability to exit the ending once it concluded. The Patch also contains the fixes from versions 1.2 and 1.1. The main download should be updated to version 1.3 in a few days.

(August 5th, 2012):

The main download has been upgraded to version 1.2. If you have downloaded an earlier version of STTB1+2 please download patch 1.2 and apply it.

(August 4th, 2012): IMPORTANT

Patch 1.2 has been added, which fixes a game-crashing bug in the first stage of World 3 of STTB2. Please download it and apply it to whichever version of STTB1+2 you had, the patch also contains all the 1.1 updates.

The main download should be updated to 1.2 in a day or two.

--------------------------------------
Now complete!

Super Talking Time Bros was developed between November 2010 and January 2011 by a group of people at the Talking Time forums.

Super Talking Time Bros 2: Super Squad was developed between November 2011 and April 2012 by many of the same people, plus some newcomers!

Both games were designed with easy access and fair gameplay in mind, and were subjected to a peer review system which helped iron out any issues and romhacky nonsense.

Installation Note: STTB 1+2 uses its own install of SMBX. When you download the zip extract it to a separate directory than your usual SMBX install. This allows STTB 1+2 to use new BGMs, sound effects, and many more graphics, particularly for the world map.

Super Talking Time Bros 2 Release Promo:

Super Talking Time Bros (the first) features a Hub system. Every world has at least one star, many have two and a handful have three. Most of the worlds are accessible from the start, but boss stages and the final couple of worlds have star requirements.

World 3 - Vanilla Thunderdome
World 4 - Supersize Fries Land
World 5 - Cotton Candy Cloud Land

Super Talking Time Bros 2: Super Squad features a world map system. Every stage in the game has a hidden Red Star somewhere, boss stages have a Red Star and reward an extra Gold Star upon completion, plus there are extra Green Star challenge stages. Unlock secrets and bonuses as you find all the stars!

In this adventure, Mario and friends must save Princess Daisy who was mistakenly kidnapped by Bowser, and are accompanied by another lovable scamp: Super Squad Kirby. SS Kirby longs to be helpful to 'Unca Weegie', but can't help but get in the way.

World 1 - Spring Breeze
World 2 - Banana Island

Finished playing 'em both. TT2 was a huge improvement over the first. This is high-quality level design that everyone should aspire to.

I'd also like to contribute to the next Talking Time project if it ever gets into the production stage.

Feel free to join the conversation. We are discussing possibilities for doing an expansion pack for STTB2 and engine options for STTB3
I am surprised that there are no reviews for this yet, as well.
can we use the custom graphics and stuff ???
I don't see why not. Most of the graphics used in Super Talking Time Bros. series were also in the SMBX Ultimate Graphics Pack, which has a TON of custom graphics for use in Super Mario Bros. X episodes. If it's something more than that, such as a boss or what not, I would ask first.

Also, we're finally starting to put a cut-off on the levels for the in-progress expansion pack. As it stands, we have about 42 levels submitted from quite a few different authors, and roughly 54 stars up for grabs.

That doesn't mean that there is a definite release date yet. Even after all levels are submitted and the cut-off is reached, we still need to test what we've got and actually put it together into something playable. But, it looks like the game is finally in the visible horizon.

Just to reiterate what I said in the first paragraph: please, if you want to use something from any of the projects, for whatever reason, ASK FIRST. We're generally pretty lenient about small things being used, and if you ask for a graphic or song or something, I don't think any of us will outright refuse it, and even if we did, the worst we could do is say "no".

So, uh, that's that.

Alright, been typing a review up for this and wondered, should I submit one review for #1, and another for #2, or submit one for 1 and 2 in one review cuz they share a gamepage?

You can't submit two reviews to the same game. You could do one review for both, or just review one of the two games. I'd accept a review for only one of the games since they share a game page.

ThisThese gameS isARE epic, not perfect, but epic! I'm not doing a full review as I have not beat either

Observations for STTB in general:
-I like the EXE Replacement, the reworked sounds are fantastic, the title level works good with the logo, even the disclaimer is better than Vanilla SMBX!
-I like a the Playable replacements except for toad... I've always been partial to the SMB3 Recolor of him...

Observations for STTB1:
-The hub is kinda boring I mean it's Pretty much flat. I can't help but compare it to RMN World's Hub, Simple, but elegant Simultaneously.
-The Cheat Area Is plus, but other than that nothing
Other than that, Nothing else for STTB1...

Observations for STTB2:
The only things I have to point out are good, here they are:
-The intro is great The best part is you poke fun of Link being playable in a mario game.(Don't get the Idea I object ton the fact Link is in SMBX in the first place, it is why I got SMBX in the first place)
-The world map is beautiful,But the warp zone COULD be more interesting IMO(Eg Less flat)
-I Absolutely LOVE the exits in this! words cannot describe how much I like the classic Flagpole music,so Glad you used it over SMW's Crappy Exit music.
-Red stars add a desire to explore, that is all I can say about them!
I just downloaded this dual-pack of games and I am loving it. I just really wish the run and action key were separate.
I really liked both games. Nice mp3 songs.
