Dragon Quest RPG Maker Remake | Final Trailer

Dragon Quest Plus will release, Friday November 10th, 2023!

This is a remake of Dragon Quest 1 with added content, quality of life features, and orchestrated OST. It will of course be 100% free.

The game can be found here when it launches. I would like to thank everyone who supported me and helped this become a reality after 11 years!

How similar is this game to the original?

It follows all of the same beats as the original, but I threw in changes to maps, music, new spells, mini medals, different monsters at times, etc.

I didn't want to just remake DQ1 again. That has been done several times. So while the story is in tact, there's a lot that has changed as well.

Boot it up and the first thing I see (or second idk) is Character Design Akira Toriyama.

Very nice presentation. Had one question repeated in the test at the start of the game though, idk if that should happen.

RIP to the goat indeed. But yeah, happy that you're liking it so far. And yes it's supposed to ask that question twice just to see if the player is paying attention as the order of "Yes, No?" changes. This also happens in the remakes of DQ3.

I'll probably play this as soon as i finish DQ!!.

RIP Toriyama
Thanks, I came across this recently while I was looking up mods to replay DQ11 or something and had forgotten I commented on it way back when.

I still play a lot of RPG Maker games, but don't dwell on the sites too much these days, but definitely a shout out to you for getting this complete. Hopefully it didn't burn you out too much.

I'll be sure to comment back once I've had a chance to play it through.

I'm in need of giving this a play through. Would I download the Base Game AMD ver 1.07 and then add the AMD patch, or is the AMD path already in the Base Game AMD ver 1.07, and the separate download patch for those on older versions?

DQ1 is one of the few that was in sore need of a decent remake, since it was already bare bones of a game when it came out compared to every DQ and JRPG released since then. Even the remasters are a bit sour when you know there will barely be enough content to warant another playthrough... though I'm suckered to play through DQ1 on almost every release.

Looking forward to this!!!!

lol, you were like the 3rd comment on this profile like...12 years ago. It's finally here, haha.

And so the way it works is if you have an AMD CPU you'll just need the AMD Base game that is pre-patched to 1.0.7. Just that 1 download is all you need.

This version of DQ1 is familiar yet new so I hope you enjoy it.

Have fun!

Hmm, I'm almost positive that's the version I was using, 1.0.7 AMD. But I'll reinstall and if it happens again I'll let you know.

Both Intel and AMD bugfixes for this issue were just added. Thanks for the report. Turns out I forgor to update both versions of the Inn event.

Oh, if you have AMD then yeah you're on 1.0.7. Do not mix the AMD ver. with the Intel ones.

So it may be an issue. I thought I properly addressed it. Could be something in the menuing if it still occurs. If it does, let me know sort of what happened before the rollover.

Edit: Nevermind, just found the bug. Will update soon. Thanks! I'll send you a quick fix link too.

Just played through the extra content, such classic staples like the possessed monarch and ghost pirate ship. The Underworld story was dark and intriguing. Really enjoyed the extra maps and super bosses. He was tough but I was able to beat Demon at level 50 and get the Good Ending. Highly recommended this to any and all DQ fans!

I'm glad you enjoyed post game. Wish I could have done so much more (like add the other 4 scrapped bonus worlds) but I'm proud of the final game. That super boss can be really tough. Good stuff!

Hello all. I didn't learn about this amazing remake until recently. I've been a Dragon Quest fan since I got my copy of Dragon Warrior 1 with a Nintendo Power subscription. To Ljink, thank you for this wonderful game and all the effort you put into it. And the work you did in releasing an AMD patch. It is much appreciated!

As for people who have controller issues, I just wanted to mention a program I use called Xpadder to map keyboard controls to my Xbox One blutooth controller I use with my PC. I use it to map the arrow keys on the gamepad in Dragon Quest + and it works great. It isn't a free program but it's relatively cheap. And there's other similar programs that map keyboard controls to joysticks and gamepads. Just thought I'd mention it in case it helped anyone out. Have a happy New Year all and stay safe!

You are welcome! And yeah it seems Xbox One controllers are much more compatible with the game (especially if trying to use a D-Pad).
