Yup, the first public demo is available now to download. I've tried my best to make this a solid and enjoyable experience. In order to get the best look out of 2k3 games in the official release or fan translation, please run the game in full screen mode.

It's finally here! The Demo For Dragon Quest + is available to everyone this time around, and if you've tested the old game before, testing this version is like night and day, so get it a try!

Notes:

* Gameplay Demo is 90 Minutes, or 1 Hour and 30 Minutes long. After that time is up the game will shut down. You however, can restart as many times as you'd like. I put a time restriction on because not only is Dragon Quest a rather short game, but I want the full experience to be there when the full game releases.

*If you find any bugs, please notify me when you can. Preferably with Screenshots if possible.

*If you have any feedback regarding difficulty, dialogue, etc. also make sure to notify me.

*The game SHOULD work without the RTP installed, if it doesn't you'll have to install the 2k3 RTP for now.

*If you run into any soft locks, which can happen based on the custom menu system/switch management, also take a screenshot of it. I haven't encountered a soft lock in test play in some time. I just ran through the demo without any issues, so it is at least a sound and solid demo.

*Some events like meeting God scenarios, new story developments, were removed to enhance the demo experience.

Again, I truly hope you enjoy this demo and I hope that it at least lives up to Dragon Quest fan's expectations. If it doesn't. don't hesitate to tell me.

I hope you enjoy it!

It's been a while since I last posted. I managed to get stuck at the part of needing the rainbow bridge. I could never find the boy that is normally in DQ1 to progress. Also have fun with the new DQ that has come out?
Using Evac in Domdora caused me to get a black screen with Maira's music playing, probably because I had recently been there. On a related note, it is difficult to find the Fairy Flute in this version. Also, is it just me, or are the encounters in Domdora nerfed compared to the NES version? At least now you only encounter the same monsters as in the desert surrounding the ruins.

Ah, I think you mean the Fairy Flute? The Fairy Flute quest takes place in Rimuldar, you need to explore the outer edges of town to engage that quest. The rainbow bridge is made once you find the rain staff and sun stone. Find both of those and find the sun Shrine to the most south east of the map.

And yeah, my eyes have actually gotten better lately. I have gotten about 30 hours in to DQXI and am enjoying it so far. I'm not making as much progress due to the fact that my eyes aren't 100% but still I'm making progress. Thanks for asking. I'll try to make the new sidequests more apparent in future builds, I just didn't want to make a 1:1 remake of the game in terms of story telling.

Huh, well that's not good. I probably know what's wrong and I'll fix it soon. Yeah the Fairy Flute starts with a quest in Rimuldar, you need to initiate a side quest within the outskirts of the town (in the same map though) to find the flute, it's still in Maira but there's some events that need to happen before you can actually get it. I did this because I wanted to make the game more like a linear RPG compared to the first DQ. I might change it though in the final build.

I tried to lower the encounter rate in Domdora as I found it frustrating in my playthough, but I can up the rate if that's what the fans want. This is more based off of the SFC/GBC version though. I haven't had much time to work on the game but I'll try to have an update out soon that addresses some of these issues.

Edit: I just fixed the Domdora Evac issue, just something silly I did. It'll be a part of the new patch.

Thank you both for the feedback.
Also, you can't level up past 19, even though it displays 26000 EXP. I fought the Golem and the Mad Knight, got to like 32000 EXP, wondering why I wasn't like level 21 at that point.

Looks like Green Dragon's been replaced, as well. RIP.

I didn't implement levels past 19 yet, I kind of didn't expect anyone to get there in this demo. Guess I was wrong, lol. I'll also implement up to level 30 in the patch.

And yes, the Green Dragon is gone too and replaced with a Hacksaurus. I kind of wanted this game to not be too familiar with people who have played the first Dragon Quest a million times like myself. But I can easily implement a "Classic Mode" for the final release, but that's a little ways off.
