Hey everybody and happy 12 day late new year! I hope the new year is treatin' y'all well. Here's the second questionnaire for you guys. Answer accordingly blah blah blah, you know the drill. Just wanna know what you guys think before I go on with development. Sierra's going to college right now so I can't do as much as I could without her.:(

1.) Okay, this is going to be a time killer and probably hard to reincorporate but Day and Night system... yay or nay?

2.)Dragon Quest 3 Custom Menu mirroring Dragon Quest III's Sorta like this.

3.)Just for demographic data, how old are you? If you don't want to answer simply N/A

4.)For special credit purposes DO YOU KNOW WHERE THIS SONG comes from. This specific one is from Dragon Quest X but the original was from a DS game. If you find out let me know for a whole credits screen to yourself just for finding out this song's origin.

5.)Are you looking forward to Dragon Quest VII: Warriors of Eden? Just answer, it's for a good cause.

6.) Do you mind having only 3 save files only?

7.) DLC as of now requires a full game re-download since the saves for RPG2k3 save everything from that play session and everything from that play session only. Do you know a workaround for this? If not the game will probably be one full download probably extending past the August release date.

8.)If you did have a virtual wife, sorry girls unless you're yeah..., but if you did have a virtual wife would you take care of her virtual child?

9.) Would you grind your butt off to pay for a mansion or hit it rich at the casino to pay for it?

10.) Slime race, yay or nay?

The questionnaire is quite short this time but a bit more elaborate to an extent. Every question has a reason behind it. Please leave your comments.

1.) Okay, this is going to be a time killer and probably hard to reincorporate but Day and Night system...

I'd say yay. But if it gives you too much trouble, I wouldn't worry about it. Only because while it is a neat feature, it doesn't make the game that much better.

2.)Dragon Quest 3 Custom Menu mirroring Dragon Quest III's Sorta like this.

Well, custom menus almost always look better than the default.

3.)Just for demographic data, how old are you? If you don't want to answer simply

22

4.)For special credit purposes DO YOU KNOW WHERE THIS SONG comes from. This specific one is from Dragon Quest X but the original was from a DS game. If you find out let me know for a whole credits screen to yourself just for finding out this song's origin.

Sounds kinda familiar, but no, I really don't know.

5.)Are you looking forward to Dragon Quest VII: Warriors of Eden? Just answer, it's for a good cause.

Very much so! Dragon Quest 7 is my favorite, but despite it being my favorite, I haven't beaten it! Every time I got to Cloudking (I think it was called Hellcloud), I quit because I thought he was too hard. I plan to beat the whole thing when it is re-released. Although I have to say... I loved the graphical style of the orignal 7.

6.) Do you mind having only 3 save files only?

Nope.

7.) DLC as of now requires a full game re-download since the saves for RPG2k3 save everything from that play session and everything from that play session only. Do you know a workaround for this? If not the game will probably be one full download probably extending past the August release date.

I'm sorry, I don't.

8.)If you did have a virtual wife, sorry girls unless you're yeah..., but if you did have a virtual wife would you take care of her virtual child?

No.

9.) Would you grind your butt off to pay for a mansion or hit it rich at the casino to pay for it?

Probably not.

10.) Slime race, yay or nay?

Yes! I love slimes.

Thanks for answering Orias. I've also never completed Dragon Quest VII. It is one of my new years resolutions though. I've asked nearly a million people where that song came from and not even Dragon Quest experts know! It's baffling to me! Thanks again:D
1) That's a definite yes from me, anything to bring a touch of style to the game, BUT! If it means a quicker (Q4-2014 :'() release, then by all means ignore it!

2) Absolutely, that one looks a lot better than the RPGM default.

3) I'm 31 ^___^

4) Sorry, I don't recognise it at all - it's not even vaguely familiar.

5) Naw, I don't have a 3DS so I've done everything I can to specifically IGNORE any/all talk of 3DS RPGs. It's depressing :P

6) Not at all. It's only me that uses my rig anyhow, so three slots is plenty.

7) I have a pretty epic cable line, so redownloading 150-300MB is a snap for me, I don't mind redownloading the entire game. I'm not a coder so I don't know of any workarounds for the limits of RPGM .. probably best to ask one of the more celebrated scriptors such as Yanfly.

8) Um. I'm all for more systems in a game and if it was like Fable then I'd say; sure! As long as it doesn't impede the dungeoneering and looting XD

9) Casino, depending on just how much grinding would be required ;)

10) Hell yeah! The more the merrier!
@sabin1981

Hey, thanks for answering the questions. The day-night system shouldn't detract too much time from the release but it'll take a while to get everything perfect.

I'll probably have to add some plug-ins for the DLC sooner or later. 2k3 is easy to use but hard to take advantage of.

I hate grinding so I've made everything after the main campaign a little more fair.

#8 is basically referring to Dragon Quest 5: Hand of the Heavenly Bride if you've played it.

Regarding #6 I feel the same way. Why have 15 save slots if you're just one person? I'm going with my gut/Final Fantasy 1-6/ Dragon Quest 1-6 on this one. 3 saves only:D

Thanks for completing the questionnaire anyhow.
1.) Okay, this is going to be a time killer and probably hard to reincorporate but Day and Night system... yay or nay?

I like day/night gameplay differences. When monsters change depending on time, or stuff opens at late, and so on. So, yeah, if it gets used properly. Also I would like to have something to pass time rapidly (well, probably INNs, but I hope I can get up while it's late).

2.)Dragon Quest 3 Custom Menu mirroring Dragon Quest III's Sorta like this.

I like DQ/DW menu style. So, yeah.

3.)Just for demographic data, how old are you? If you don't want to answer simply N/A

21

4.)For special credit purposes DO YOU KNOW WHERE THIS SONG comes from. This specific one is from Dragon Quest X but the original was from a DS game. If you find out let me know for a whole credits screen to yourself just for finding out this song's origin.

The only info I got was that it is heard when battling some gut named Pusugon, the Water Pagoda boss, at Dragon Quest X.

5.)Are you looking forward to Dragon Quest VII: Warriors of Eden? Just answer, it's for a good cause.

I'm not very informed about DQ "whereabouts", so the truth is nope.

6.) Do you mind having only 3 save files only?

Yeah, I don't like to use a lot of slots because I get confused easily while diving them x'D.

7.) DLC as of now requires a full game re-download since the saves for RPG2k3 save everything from that play session and everything from that play session only. Do you know a workaround for this? If not the game will probably be one full download probably extending past the August release date.

When I used RM2k3, if made some eventing fixes or changes, I always made a "common event" that fixed automatically all necessary switch/variable issues (setting the necessary ones to the default values I needed them to be). Also I made sure to name any used stuff. So if something had a name, I didn't reused them, unless I made sure of "cleaning" all maps. I named TMP the reusable variables/switches for that purpose too. And still do.

8.)If you did have a virtual wife, sorry girls unless you're yeah..., but if you did have a virtual wife would you take care of her virtual child?

It depends on the benefits. Virtual people are virtual people, probably I'm not going to be mean, but neither am going to waste a lot of time getting them to supremacy (whatever it means on this context =D?).

9.) Would you grind your butt off to pay for a mansion or hit it rich at the casino to pay for it?

One is grind, the other is random chance. The latter could be faster, but also could end in money grind. I don't like random chance, so I think I go the hard way, which will make me never get the mansion and move on after some time of grinding.

10.) Slime race, yay or nay?

Yay! Maybe I could get the money for 9 here!

1) Doesn't matter to me. If it's easier just to leave it at day then do so. You are working with RM2k right?

2) I would like it if you are able to pull it off.

3) 22

4) I have no idea. It seems to have a similar style to Dragon quest 6, though.

5) Never played it but hell yes.

6) A lot of handheld Dragon Quest games have only one save file, so I don't mind at all.

7) Nope, sorry.

8) Hmm... Yes.

9) Grind my butt off since that's more reliable.

10) Doesn't Dragon quest kind of have this already? Slimes have demonstrated to be capable of speech, and in the spin-off game, Rocket Slime, they were kind of their own race. I wouldn't mind it.
1) Yes for day and night but only if it's not too hard to implement.

2) I don't like that system to be honest but i'll get used to it eventually.

3) 17

4) Nope

5) Not really, I don't and do not plan on getting a 3DS.

6) Not at all since I use only two slots.

7) I do not know much if the rpgmaker program to help. I don't mind re-downloading the game for DLC's.

8) I would only do this if it had some sort of benefit.

9) I grind in almost every rpg so I have no problem with grinding to buy the mansion but the casino chance would be nice.

10) Yes for slime race.
ALL MY REPLIES ARE IN RED!

Yes, you can pass time rapidly by using the Day-Night spell or by visiting an inn.

2.)Dragon Quest 3 Custom Menu mirroring Dragon Quest III's Sorta like this.

I use to hate it but then I began to love it. It has such simplicity

3.)Just for demographic data, how old are you? If you don't want to answer simply N/A

You have DQX! Which means you can read Japanese and you have a Japanese region coded Wii? Lucky Duckite!

I'm not very informed about DQ "whereabouts", so the truth is nope.

Basically I'm copying Dragon Quest 5. If you haven't played it, grab an emulator and a rom or homebrew channel and play away.

I used to be the same way. In Dragon Quest 8 I had a hard time beating Dholmagus because Angelo was so dang slow. I went to the casino, hit it rich at the slots and bought an Agility ring and wiped the floor with Dholmagus.

10.) Slime race, yay or nay?

Yay! Maybe I could get the money for 9 here!

1) Yes for day and night but only if it's not too hard to implement.
It's not that it's hard to implement but rather a time taker. I say this because of all the NPCs that are in teh game and all the potential NPCS. It makes me woozy just thinking about it.

2) I don't like that system to be honest but i'll get used to it eventually.
Being a Final Fantasy, Xenogears, Grandia, Chrono, guy I didn't like the menu system of DQ as well. It wasn't until recently that I loved it. Yes, the DS ones are a bit lame but the Super Nintendo menu on DQ3 was fantastic. It'll definitely take some getting use to.
3) 17

4) Nope

5) Not really, I don't and do not plan on getting a 3DS.
Really? There's alotta good on it. Just avoid all third parties except for Square Enix and Konami.

6) Not at all since I use only two slots.

7) I do not know much if the rpgmaker program to help. I don't mind re-downloading the game for DLC's.

8) I would only do this if it had some sort of benefit.
All it is is that you're raising a boy to a man which will be important to the later story.

9) I grind in almost every rpg so I have no problem with grinding to buy the mansion but the casino chance would be nice.

10) Yes for slime race.
author=Ratty524
1) Doesn't matter to me. If it's easier just to leave it at day then do so. You are working with RM2k right?
Using 2k3 actually but there's barely a difference between the two. It isn't hard to event script for it, it's just the NPC messaging and teleporting that'll take time and effort.

2) I would like it if you are able to pull it off.
I'm making very little progress with it. All I have is the menu function-able right now. No sub-menus. I'll have to ask around for help. Heck, I'll even pay a little money for someone to script it for me.

3) 22

4) I have no idea. It seems to have a similar style to Dragon quest 6, though.
That's exactly what I said! I found the original song on youtube a while ago and it was titled "Battle Begins" for Dragon Quest 6 DS. The video just randomly disappeared one day.
5) Never played it but hell yes.
It'll make me so happy if we get this in the states. It'll keep you busy for a while. Most record finishing time at 150+ hours for the main game alone! And the game doesn't ramble that much. It's truly a masterpiece.

6) A lot of handheld Dragon Quest games have only one save file, so I don't mind at all.
I hated that Dragon Quest IX only had 1 save file. so 3 seems fair to me. The game could ultimately have 100 or even 1000 save files but who needs all those, really who?

7) Nope, sorry.

8) Hmm... Yes.

9) Grind my butt off since that's more reliable.
Reliable but time consuming. However on the bright side you get money and experience so it's kinda like a win-win-lose situation.

10) Doesn't Dragon quest kind of have this already? Slimes have demonstrated to be capable of speech, and in the spin-off game, Rocket Slime, they were kind of their own race. I wouldn't mind it.

I meant something to this effect. Basically you bet on which slime will win the race. Simple, sweet, to the point, and can earn you big bucks.

Thanks for filling out the questionnaire.

Oh, that seems fun, actually. I wouldn't mind something like that if it were in this game, or something to the effect of the monster arena like in Dragon Quest 3.
Gave my thoughts on DD as well.

1.) Yes, that would be awesome!

2.)Love the menu system from DQ3 and up.

3.)21

4.)Think it's from DQ6's slime mini game like Jamiras said.

5.)YES, I mean look at these screenshots!

Got a bit carried away there...

6.)I actually prefer 3 save files.

7.)Not really

8.)Don't care, as long as it's beneficial.

9.)Grind my butt off. I get gold and exp.

10.)Slime race is fun. I'm all for it.

1) It would be cool, but it really is a pain to make (I'm thinking on doing something similar on one of my projects). Not all Dragon Quests had a night and day system, you can make it night only in special events to keep that trend though.

2) It would look great! But I'd also go for a key imput that allows the player to use a multifunction button instead of having to open the menu to talk and open chests n'stuff.

3) 28.

4) It's from the Slippin' Slime mini game from Dragon Quest VI DS.

5) Not gonna get a 3DS :( But I loved the original DQ VII!! Long, but had a great story. The only thing I didn't like much about it was that it was too hard to level up classes.

6) Not really.

7) I don't understand, are the DLC maps, characters, items? Assuming I had the finished game and then downloaded DLC, what would I be downloading and what would the conflict in rmk be?

8) Since it's virtual, it really depends on the cons and pros.

9) Nope.

10) yay! Specially if good prizes are involved.
1.Yes, its just plain fun.
2.Looks good.

4.No.
5.Yes very much so.

Yeah, I'm not going to make somebody chose take to get a treasure chest. It'll probably be like The GBC games where it has Item, Equip, Plan, and Magic.

3) 28.

Well the DLC will be all that you've mentioned since the data is stored in the lmt. and database files. So there's new scenarios that JessicaAlbert13 and I are working on that will be released as DLC. I'll explain more on it later but basically you get to these new areas by Magic Keys. The release of the game comes with a Magic Key prepacked. So there's this place where I sell Magic Keys for Gold, yes I'm the shop owner, and everytime you download the patch of the game I will show it updated in the game. When you buy a key you can go to a magic door and go to a new world with new scenarios. That's it in a nutshell but I think it's the biggest draw of the game.

Yes, recognizing the map's existance is the problem. Say that I start a new game and save. Once I download the new Database and stuff(DLC) and continue nothing that's added will be changed. I think that's how it worked the last time I tried this idea or maybe I did something wrong. I'll just have to keep trying I guess.

From the bit of testing I did, it seems you'll have to include most base files with the DLC (RPG_RT.exe, RPG_RT.lmt, RPG_RT.ldb) and the new/changed maps, the only thing you don't need to include are Charsets, Chipsets, Music, etc, etc (unless the DLC uses Charsets, Chipsets, Music, etc, etc). Those files won't be that big (around 30MB I'd say) by the time you finish the game.

So does the program automatically make the maps useable then? So the game right now has 500 maps. If I were to make an update that added 10 maps would 2k3 automatically create those maps in the editor? Well, what I should be asking is if it's actually possible. Because I see that Generica has a patch for the game and I know Kentona didn't want the players to restart after starting the game.

I think everytime I update the game everything will have to change. I'll probably have new Charactersets, Faces, Pictures, and all the other stuff. The one thing I was worried about was the size limit which got raised to 450MB. The game isn't that space consumptive but it will have a movie or two and quite a large musical score.
