Not everything is as it seems in Alter Legends. Friends are foes, where foes are friends and the world is constantly changing to continuously bring new game play to the the table. We may have bit off more than we can chew, making this game, but by god were going to finish it, and give it to you for free.

Yes there are some minor graphical bugs here and there, but this game is about as polished as it's going to get (not including game breaking bugs.)

I made this game to practice and learn. It's served it's purpose but It's time for me to start clean with all that I have learned. I'm looking forward to bringing you completely polished and professional work in the future, however, when i started this game, I had no idea what I was doing, and the frame work I built it upon has become very very limiting to me. I hope you guys can enjoy it as it is, she is my first child :P Cheers guys.

The Long Long Road.

So I am back from vacation and the first thing I did was PLOW through a mountain of let's plays of my game. ( I put it up privately on another site for lets players to beta test for me).

Now before I go on I need to state this. Alter Legend is my very first full length project and I only made it to practice and learn rpg maker.

I made it in VX and with the release of ACE my engine has become obsolete. Not to mention when I started the project, I had NO IDEA WHAT I WAS DOING, so this game is built on a really shitty frame work that would be far too much work to fix, so there are a lot of non game breaking kwirks that I never plan on fixing.

why will I not fix these bugs? Because I have learned all I wanted to learn from Alter Legend, it has served it's purpose. I want so badly to start on a fresh project with nice neat, clean ground work, where I can apply all my new good habits from the start.


there is a general consensus that the game is too hard. It's painful to watch as most people struggle because of terrible decision making... whether it's from not taking the time to look for the chests i scattered EVERYWHERE, or if its from not bothering to read the dialogue and then getting lost. Or some people that spam the chain attacks and never use spells at all. I do not blame the players though, How can I? A game is fun, or it isn't I need to investigate how to overcome different players and their different skill sets.

SO, that being said, I will be nurfing monster HP and the damage from certain spells. I will be making it so certain monsters don't respawn, especially monsters in puzzle areas.

I will be increasing the money dropped from killed creatures, and will make edits to certain quests to make things more obvious.

Eventually I will add more content to Mekana city. I will add more side quests, and will drastically expand the relationship system which in the current build is basically unused.

After these changes the game will go into hiatus while I work on a Commercial project with Galv. Alter Legend will be revisited from time to time to not only add to the story and provide more hours of gameplay, but will also slowly polish the game over time.

I want to thank everyone for your interest in the past year and a half of development. I want to thank all my lets players for putting themselves through hell playing my terribly inbalanced game in it's current build lmfao... those videos were hard to watch! And I want to thank Galv and my girlfriend for putting up with me for all this time :D I'm not an easy guy to deal with ^^

Sit tight, the final build of Alter Legend will be up in the next few days :)

Ive played last remnant, and yes the function will be a lot like that, however if your timing is godly you can gain a lot more than just 1 attack. as for shadow hearts, I've never played that, and can't speak for how my system compares to that one. What I can say, is, due to the fact that you can gain many extra attacks if your good, it will cause you to gamble between using spells for guaranteed damage, or to trust your skills to get you the combos you need. (((I have also included an system that keeps track of your chains and total damage, so you can easily keep track of which options do more damage. for example, if you suck at your chains, and cant break 300 or 400 damage, it might be a better option to use your spells))).
Added Battle results window, Redesigned the window skins, removed sprite shadow script to be replaced with hand drawn shadows on sprites due to conflicts with tileset A. implemented an opponent AI script and Aggro. LMAO More changes made but i forget ... lol so many to keep track of. Ill get back to you.

I appreciate that bud - just added a relationship system... not in a cheesy dating sim sort of way, but as in, being friends with one person can make another person hate you, opening and closing quest options.

-added rare monster system, Ill say it before someone else does, similar to Last remnant, when you enter an area there is a change that a rare monster will spawn. The rare monster is stronger, looks like a modifaction of an existing monster and drops crazy good loot.

That's the judgement ring I was talking about, lol just shedding some light on it~ Depending on how many times you hit the lit up areas affects how many times the character attacks, and if you hit the smaller areas you dish out more damage. :)
Yeah mine is quite different. Im releasing a demo before the weekend is over, so you can see for your self :)
I uploaded the download for Chapter 1 - how long does it normally take for those to get verified? Because it's been pending for hours.

Hey! I played through the Alter Legend demo i downloaded from another site,very good game. The battle system wasn't exactly what i expected and took a lil gettin used to,im old school i suppose i like the old ways much better but still was very impressive maps were good ,battles weren't super hard but you had to think about what you were doing.The fog was great also (good idea). The only part i didn't care for was the waterfall on the wall and the fountain waterfall was a lil to wide. Demo was to short lol now i cant wait for the full version. Overall was great ty for taking your time to produce a demo. Looking forward for the full game ,any idea of when ?

Out of curiousity, when did you play the other demo? cus ive released 2 demos so far, one was recent... 2 days ago maybe, and the other was almost a month ago... I hope you played the new version :D as for time of release... im not sure. but yeah. in the version you played, were there combo attacks in the battles sytem? save and load screens? did it end in the shrine? or did it end after you meet kenta? haha. thanks for checking it out either way!
It was the new demo ,i couldn't wait for it to be available here so i got it elsewhere ,i had your old one played it as well. The new demo ended at the tamogrin temple.

beautiful, I'm glad you enjoyed what was there so far. I plan to release this game in chapters. if you want to play it chapter by chapter, you can grab them as they come out, kind of like a tv show... you will be able to load your previous games. by copying your saved file into the new folder... its a simple drag and drop. OR you can wait for several chapters to be released and play them all at once. your choice!

Is this a demo? Why was it so short? O.o
Because the game is being released 1 chapter at a time. simply because they are not all done yet.
