Welcome to ALTER LEGEND.

A tragic accident turns into a source of power. After a massive slaughter of an entire city, at the hands of an elusive titan, the survivors realize they can channel the spirits of the dead. The spirits take shape as monsters, as magic, and as chaos. Join Alek in a struggle to to find out why the great beast Igara, a once peaceful beast, would suddenly rampage, killing thousands.
Explore a massive world in a free roam system that still very much pushes a thick and juicy plot. Choose to sell old gear, or synthesize them into new powerful weapons. Explore dungeons, forests, castles, churches, temples and the depths of your own damn backpack as this game caters to those who like the grind and collect, just as much as it does to those who like to avoid that kind of thing and just soak in a beautiful immersion plot. Challenge yourself with quicktime combos that make skill a bigger factor then level, but still gain experience to multiply the power of that same skill your momma gave you! Not everything is as it seems in Alter Legends. Friends are foes, where foes are friends and the world is constantly changing to continuously bring new game play to the the table. We may have bit off more than we can chew, making this game, but by god were going to finish it, and give it to you for free.
Welcome to Alter Legend, and may your stay be increasingly epic.

(disclaimer**)

Yes there are some minor graphical bugs here and there, but this game is about as polished as it's going to get (not including game breaking bugs.)

I made this game to practice and learn. It's served it's purpose but It's time for me to start clean with all that I have learned. I'm looking forward to bringing you completely polished and professional work in the future, however, when i started this game, I had no idea what I was doing, and the frame work I built it upon has become very very limiting to me. I hope you guys can enjoy it as it is, she is my first child :P Cheers guys.

The Long Long Road.

So I am back from vacation and the first thing I did was PLOW through a mountain of let's plays of my game. ( I put it up privately on another site for lets players to beta test for me).

Now before I go on I need to state this. Alter Legend is my very first full length project and I only made it to practice and learn rpg maker.

I made it in VX and with the release of ACE my engine has become obsolete. Not to mention when I started the project, I had NO IDEA WHAT I WAS DOING, so this game is built on a really shitty frame work that would be far too much work to fix, so there are a lot of non game breaking kwirks that I never plan on fixing.

why will I not fix these bugs? Because I have learned all I wanted to learn from Alter Legend, it has served it's purpose. I want so badly to start on a fresh project with nice neat, clean ground work, where I can apply all my new good habits from the start.

there is a general consensus that the game is too hard. It's painful to watch as most people struggle because of terrible decision making... whether it's from not taking the time to look for the chests i scattered EVERYWHERE, or if its from not bothering to read the dialogue and then getting lost. Or some people that spam the chain attacks and never use spells at all. I do not blame the players though, How can I? A game is fun, or it isn't I need to investigate how to overcome different players and their different skill sets.

SO, that being said, I will be nurfing monster HP and the damage from certain spells. I will be making it so certain monsters don't respawn, especially monsters in puzzle areas.

I will be increasing the money dropped from killed creatures, and will make edits to certain quests to make things more obvious.

Eventually I will add more content to Mekana city. I will add more side quests, and will drastically expand the relationship system which in the current build is basically unused.

After these changes the game will go into hiatus while I work on a Commercial project with Galv. Alter Legend will be revisited from time to time to not only add to the story and provide more hours of gameplay, but will also slowly polish the game over time.

I want to thank everyone for your interest in the past year and a half of development. I want to thank all my lets players for putting themselves through hell playing my terribly inbalanced game in it's current build lmfao... those videos were hard to watch! And I want to thank Galv and my girlfriend for putting up with me for all this time :D I'm not an easy guy to deal with ^^

Sit tight, the final build of Alter Legend will be up in the next few days :)

Officially polished up the look of the profile. whatta you think?

I know what store I'd open in the towns, a dry-cleaner. Honestly just how mucky are this bunch? Quick question - do they all lead into the battles with the right side of their faces?

Sorry, that was just a little silly. Honest response? It looks unbelievably good and I am having trouble waiting for a game-fixed, glitch free version so I can play.

This game is huge, and its all paralax mapped so there are a lot of places to go wrong. I'm trying my best to hammer out all of the bugs, Making a game like this is definitely biting off more than i can chew, but im seeing it through to the end.

Thanks for showing interest though bud, It really pushes me through it!

I just hope you're not rushing yourself with the 10/31/2012 completion date.

I made that completion date ages ago, I think its probably time for a recalculation, cus yeah, I really doubt that deadline is happening.
Love your game profile (Oh, the game is fun too! haha)

What new deadline are you setting yourself? I'm no trying to rush you (maybe).
I wanna get a general consensus from everyone... what has been a hit, and what has been a miss in this game?

Hits: Fun dungeon design, & sexy maps.

Miss: Feels rushed (then you remove the download x-3,)
The story doesn't really hook the player until later chapters.

...Also, Arenna is almost laughable. It makes my inner feminist mad at this game. Of course, that might just be me >.>
I would try to make her character a little stronger, or add more women. Butttt againnnnn thatttt mighttt justttt beeeee meeeeee <.<
i have played your game and i think its good however what do i know
im not good at makeing rpgs he.

What about the game feels rushed? other than your playthrough? :P joking. Don't worry, there are actually a lot of bad ass females to come, they just havnt made their appearance yet.
Some of the bugs in this game coulda been fixed before you released it.
I'm not too sure how you're doing demos though. Does playing them make us unofficial beta testers? I dunno :P

And yes, I have to rush playthroughs, if I want to have time for LTing. (cause i make games too x-D)
And that isn't really bad thing. A lot of people do this when playing RM games. Especially demos, in my opinion.
Sadly I don't have an opinion, since the DL was removed before I got chance to try it... but I've been watching the Let's Try on YT and I can't wait to check it out for myself :)
Hits: Definitely the mapping and visuals look awesome, done really well with them.

Miss: It might just be me, but I play RPG's for their storyline and making it too 'challenging' can get in the way of that sometimes. The normal wandering enemies for example could take a little less to kill (so I can get back to the story!) :)
bumpity bump. big update coming soon.
:O As in chapter 3 or is that wishing for too much?
haha Ive made a difficult decision in saying that I will no longer be releasing the rest of the game in chapters. The next release will be the complete game. The reason for this, is because Ive decided to introduce an open ended travel system. which would mean, I have to map out my entire world now just to release chapter 3. So i might as well get her done :D

Oh bugger. I mean yes great full game that looks spectacular but bugger that I'm going to have to wait. I'm not good at waiting. I'd have to agree with Clareain_Christopher the maps and the dungeons were definitely in the sexy range, and in truth I don't mind a slow build for character development, as long as it's steady. I think that did feel a little off, it seemed to be a little case of wait, wait, then hurry up.

Anyway, I'll go back to moping at the sidelines occasionally piping up with 'are we there yet?'

DARN ;.;
Awwww! Still no chance of playing :( Ah well, it's for the best.. anything that makes the game even BETTER is certainly a good thing for all involved :) Good luck!

It really pumps me up to see that your so excited to play it man. I'll get back to work really hard, I promise! I really needed to see that a bunch of people were still really interested! I'll make sure this game is fantastic bud, And I'll spend a really long solid chunk of time on making the story solid.
