8.0.1 teaser changelog

Not yet released, but here's what I have for you all in the next (minor) revision update.

* Revised some awkward dialogue and wording.
* Changed push/pull mechanics (hold confirm rather than press to toggle).
* The opening credits are skippable (with confirm).
* You now start with fewer different items.
* Removed the chest in Andoru's house that wasn't actually openable.
* Re-enabled the encounter rate.
* Changed the Focus display to be more clear.
* Fixed a bug where spamming enter after selecting an attack triggered multiple Focus changes.
* Fixed an off-by-one error in the Focus display.
* Audio will be external/compressed to avoid the "Not Implemented" bug.
* Performance options in the "extra" menu.

Sounds like a whole bunch of goodness. What are some of the performance options?

Currently it's only lighting effects, which actually is what really slows down the game most. I might add display refresh rate (to show pictures less frequently) and anything else I can think of.

The cool thing is the config settings are global, meaning whatever changes you make are applied to both new games and any existing save files you load. It's done using DynRPG and I'll of course share the patch when it's done.
What's DynRpg? Other than that it sounds awesome. Lighting effects are always challenging.

One more fix: updated animated monsters plugin and (hopefully) removed the memory leak issue.
