One of the best games ever.

Starless Umbra was one of the best games ever created, with it's intriguing dialogue and storyline, anybody could get hooked to Starless Umbra. Using custom graphics, sound, and music, dragonheartman demonstrates how a chapter-by-chapter RPG should be created.

Graphics
Starless Umbra uses custom graphics, like every good game (not including Old-School) should, to stay away from the RTP. All of the maps were expertly designed, seeing the creativity of dragonheartman.

Gameplay
This game has a great emphasis on the storyline, but also on gameplay. Puzzles like the Cave Puzzle, Slider, and Grid Striker were designed well. The Horse Race in Chapter 4 was one of the best ever designed, and I hope dragonheartman keeps this up through the whole Starless Umbra series, as well as any of his other games (to be created in the future).

Systems
Starless Umbra has many well-designed systems, such as the Rage system and the Switch Characters system, in Turlon Cave. Also, the Side-Scroller system in WOLF Headquarters, was one of the best examples of a great gameplay system. With all of the Starless Umbra systems, dragonheartman expertly uses his knowledge of the RM2k3 system to create a very well designed game.

Overall
Overall, I give this game a 5 because it worked out very well for me. I hope you consider playing this game, if you haven't because it shows what you can do with Rm2k3, and you should try it out, both for the storyline, and the gameplay as well. Nice job!

The game is worth the score you gave it, but I don't know if I'd say it uses custom graphics- it looks mostly like REFMAP. Maybe edited, but custom may be going a little far.
Good review, straight to the point and no run around.

I edit almost every chipset I use. Almost all the graphics are on some level customized, but they aren't really custom in a sense that they're made from scratch (which is what I assume you mean).

Needless to say, quite a bit of time goes into graphics. Andoru does have quite a few different poses. :)

Yeah, I did think "made from scratch" I guess there is a difference between the two.
