CCOA is still releasing scripts? I thought her last script was that message system for XP o.รต

I think that credit is in regards to smaller overworld sprites, which was edited for Ace and posted here.

I really want to get that working with Mode 7. Lots of work but a world map is totally worth it.
Mode-7 is really beautiful.
I was thinking of a way of using Mode7 + prerendered parallax backgrounds to give the impression of depth. >_>

So am I, since I don't want flat mountains orz. We'll see how it goes, since I'm nowhere near world map stage yet.
Off topic but

look how possible it is

the result of someone releasing terraforming

...cactuar island where

(that's a great world map and pretty accurate even for VX, despite the terrains...but what I would like is something almost identical to the game's original map- so mode7 with big ol' mountains and an enormous Balamb Garden and etcetra)
Aren't you asking for 3D maps right now? But hey, thanks :0

Too bad you're using VX. >=

At any rate, what I meant was not that I want to use mode7 for regular mode7ening, I want to use mode seven just to set a perspective grid on the ground so the sprite shrinks and enlarges as the player draws closed or further from the camera, in a very PS1ish way. =D (see Star Ocean 2 for example)

But that'd work just in theory, I have yet to test it >_>

EDIT: The first script can be editted to have that horrible X-ray thingy deactivated, but it costs a lot of processing and will make the game delay horribly. Yet... There's also a 2x mode that basically zooms in 200% and eliminate all lag. Resolution will become 320x240, but 3D and really awesome. Nice, considering the PS1 resolution is actually 320x240... Theoretically you can recreate the FFVIII map in a very precise manner, if you somehow get to rip the textures. However it will be very costly. VERY costly. Tilesets for this script are a BITCH.
To be honest? It looks really horrible. I know it's revolutionary and stuff but ew.
It looks horrible because the tester didn't set it up properly! ^v^
There are many configurations, the tester just randomly pooped in HEY THIS CAN BE DIAGONAL WAHOO
As I said, if you zoom in 2x, it'll have the exact same screen resolution as FFVIII or any other PS1 game, 320x240. And all them render their 3D like this. There are ways to remove the awkward fails at the screen bottom and stuff. The script is pretty versatile. AND you can remove that awful zoom button. So with only the L/R option it would play very similar to actual FFVIII! ^v^
Especially nice if you use prerendered 3D models as charsets with that 8frame charset script, but it'd clash with the already made sprites. Q_Q
Trust me, it'd look pretty much exactly like FF8.

EDIT: Some more complex models would be impossible to do right, though. For example, the Balamb world model... Because this script uses heightmaps and they won't support, eh, vertical... Curves (?)

I wouldn't be doing a rotation idea: it'd be in the same format and view as a VXA map, with the same sprites, but with painted map objects on top of the mode 7 to create a depth-look. Generally VXA's mode 7 scripts turn everything into a flat waste land. I would like to alleviate that via images.

tl;dr i am not touching 3D for this game unless you want the quality to drop dramatically :V
That's good to hear. >_>;

edit: I should stop fretting over possibilities. that's exactly why I haven't released a game yet.
