Final Fantasy: Discovery is an RGSS3 learning project aiming to mimic popular Final Fantasy series mechanics and blend them into a single game.

For decades, since the discovery of the Fire Crystal in Palamecia, the nation has been growing increasingly bold, looking to expand their territory and grip over Gaia. Of the five nations that make up the world of Gaia, only the Burmecian kingdom of Figaro has prepared themselves to challenge Palamecia, led by Emperor Vayne...

Fifty years after the Crystal's unearthing, a young girl, Ashe, emerges from where it once slept, claiming to have come from a gateway to other worlds similar to Gaia. She appears with a dire warning; the Crystals of Gaia and many other worlds are in danger. After a chance encounter with Lyra, the Princess of Tycoon, Ashe sets out with her to stabilize Gaia's Crystal of Fire...

A former Palamecian engineer and airship pilot, exiled from his home after an incident in the past, embarks on a mission to infiltrate Palamecia and observe, and if possible, steal the Fire Crystal from Palamecia. What he finds there launches him to join the bigger fight against the Empire...

A stalwart Dragoon, Reeve, from the Burmecian seat of power in Figaro, leaves the kingdom to work alongside Mysidian twins, Wedge and Vicks, on various assignments from the Elder of Mysidia. He hopes to reclaim the honor that the Burmecian Dragoons once held long ago, when his father was a Dragoon under the previous king...

In Figaro, the king's personal bodyguard, Beclem, finds a young female Caller on death's door after a long journey from Aquaria, and takes her under his care. The girl, Ellie, reveals that the Esperkind her people communicate with also feel that many worlds are in danger of utter collapse. They will need to unite the humans and Esperkind once again, as it was in the distant past, to overcome the battles ahead...

Across the mountains, in the Sanubian deserts where the famous Gold Saucer rises from the earth, the leader of a secret spy organization finds information important to Figaro's mission. The time for her to choose a side has come, and Parker, of the Gold Saucer Syndicate, always picks the winning side...

Far to the south, in Ivalice, a civil war is brewing between various political figures, coinciding with the relentless defense of the borders against demons emanating endlessly from a civilization long since destroyed. A young Lionguard trainee, Leon, is tasked with ending Ivalice's plight, allowing the once mighty nation to stand up against Palamecian advances...

In the Bisga Greenlands, home to chocobos, moogles, and people of all kinds, a reclusive hunter watches in horror as the Palamecian war machine marches on her lands. The hunter, Priscilla, vows to put an end to their destruction of Gaia's natural resources...

Deep undercover in Palamecia's military ranks, a rebel soldier who's been fighting the Palamecian Empire almost his entire life is about to bring his organization into the light, for the sake of defeating them. With his custom firearms in hand, Kelger joins the fray...

Final Fantasy Discovery is very much about bringing it all together, both in terms of mechanics and the game's story. I hope you enjoy it.

LockeZ
I'd really like to get rid of LockeZ. His play style is way too unpredictable. He's always like this too. If he ran a country, he'd just kill and imprison people at random until crime stopped.

Heh. UOSS doesn't have many skills with original effects. Which one is it? Omnislash? Debilitator? Minus Strike? That... might be all of them.

Even if you make defense actually work, it's still going to be true that each point of def is worth more than the last, so defense doesn't matter for the first 75% of the game. Going from 0 to 128 def halves the damage you take, and going from 244 to 250 def also halves the damage you take. Then you combine that with the fact that early armor upgrades give bonuses of +2 and +4 over the previous item, while late armor upgrades give bonnuses of +10 and +20 over the previous item, and it becomes really silly. It should be the other way around.

...I know way too much about FF damage formulas off the top of my head
Black Curse. ^_-

Also, trust me. I am so OCD about testing damage and everything else. If it's not working properly, I'll make sure something changes to make it work properly.

Just tested a boss out with a full party of four with their best equipment sets, and none of them were able to deal 9,999 damage unless they were using a skill with a multiplier or one that ignored defense. Even in those cases, the skills needed to critical on some of the characters to deal the maximum.

Reeve was able to do it with Dive (not with Jump), and Dajh did it when I altered the number of steps for Step Mine. I cheated.

You use the right values, you can make almost any formula work, I guess.

Good luck!

How far along is the game so far? It was just added to RMN, so I'm conservatively estimating... not very far.
The entire battle system is complete, not counting adding in monsters and giving them skills. There's about a dozen or so character skills or spells that aren't working as intended just yet, but other than that, it's complete.

I was working on this for a few weeks before I submitted it for approval here.

As far as the actual game and plot goes, that's still early, which is why there aren't any screenshots of locations or dialogue yet.
Rubes! Fancy meeting you here after all these years. Game looks good, I'm excited for it.

Elena?
WCouillard, you've got your formulas all wrong here. I think you should refer to the following and see how to do it right, as this is miles ahead of whatever you're doing here:

Yup it's me. I considered coming back as Elena but I haven't done anything under that screen name for years so I figured I'd pick up something new. But yeah I think the game looks great and am looking forward to playing it when it's ready. You trolling any forums these days? I was posting in CON for a while under a different name trying to leave the Elena days behind me but I just find it doesn't satisfy my gaming discussion board needs. You trolling on any other boards of note these days?
::highfive!::

Hey you!

Not really, but I do lurk around the forum here and at Spriter's Resource and post occasionally. I pop into CoN Chat every so often too.
When the release date of the demo ??? ,I can't wait to play your game

There is no release date. When it is finished, it will be released.
This game is looking good so far. As a hardcore Final Fantasy fan, I will keep track of this project. The only Final Fantasy games I haven't played are XI,and XIII.By the way, do you plan on having other Limit Breaks related to Final Fantasy VII? The list you have so far is HUGE, but it would be cool to see some FF VII Limit Breaks.

Also, will this game be as difficult as some of the older ones (IV,V,VI,etc.)? There is one thing I like about Final Fantasy is that they know how to challenge the player while giving them some fair advantages as well. Anyway, I look forward to the Final Product, Good Luck!!
@XBuster: Final Fantasy XIII is also challenging. ;) Vicks can use Fury Brand and Great Gospel which are Final Fantasy VII Limit Breaks.
No, there will not be any additional Limit Beaks, and the ones that exist now are subject to change, as is everything else.

Yes, the game will provide a challenge, depending on how you play it. What you view as difficulty, someone else might view as ease.
I just hope you will release system kit when you going to abandon this project... It would be great for others to start with your whole database:)

It's not a starter kit. It uses preexisting scripts and know-how. Anyone can create the same databases and script settings within a week.

I think that why. A week can be pretty long for some people, or some people wouldn't have the patience to make one and "loose time."
In my humble opinion, if a week is a long time to someone, then they have bigger concerns than creating RPG Maker games.
Cool! I am still playing FF XII, and it is ridiculously hard!! I would get XIII, but I don't have an Xbox or PS3. Great Gospel? What is that? I know the Limit Breaks from every character. hmm.... oh Aeris does this. I must have never seen it before because It would take forever to learn(Died in disc 1).
