Final Fantasy: Discovery is an RGSS3 learning project aiming to mimic popular Final Fantasy series mechanics and blend them into a single game.

For decades, since the discovery of the Fire Crystal in Palamecia, the nation has been growing increasingly bold, looking to expand their territory and grip over Gaia. Of the five nations that make up the world of Gaia, only the Burmecian kingdom of Figaro has prepared themselves to challenge Palamecia, led by Emperor Vayne...

Fifty years after the Crystal's unearthing, a young girl, Ashe, emerges from where it once slept, claiming to have come from a gateway to other worlds similar to Gaia. She appears with a dire warning; the Crystals of Gaia and many other worlds are in danger. After a chance encounter with Lyra, the Princess of Tycoon, Ashe sets out with her to stabilize Gaia's Crystal of Fire...

A former Palamecian engineer and airship pilot, exiled from his home after an incident in the past, embarks on a mission to infiltrate Palamecia and observe, and if possible, steal the Fire Crystal from Palamecia. What he finds there launches him to join the bigger fight against the Empire...

A stalwart Dragoon, Reeve, from the Burmecian seat of power in Figaro, leaves the kingdom to work alongside Mysidian twins, Wedge and Vicks, on various assignments from the Elder of Mysidia. He hopes to reclaim the honor that the Burmecian Dragoons once held long ago, when his father was a Dragoon under the previous king...

In Figaro, the king's personal bodyguard, Beclem, finds a young female Caller on death's door after a long journey from Aquaria, and takes her under his care. The girl, Ellie, reveals that the Esperkind her people communicate with also feel that many worlds are in danger of utter collapse. They will need to unite the humans and Esperkind once again, as it was in the distant past, to overcome the battles ahead...

Across the mountains, in the Sanubian deserts where the famous Gold Saucer rises from the earth, the leader of a secret spy organization finds information important to Figaro's mission. The time for her to choose a side has come, and Parker, of the Gold Saucer Syndicate, always picks the winning side...

Far to the south, in Ivalice, a civil war is brewing between various political figures, coinciding with the relentless defense of the borders against demons emanating endlessly from a civilization long since destroyed. A young Lionguard trainee, Leon, is tasked with ending Ivalice's plight, allowing the once mighty nation to stand up against Palamecian advances...

In the Bisga Greenlands, home to chocobos, moogles, and people of all kinds, a reclusive hunter watches in horror as the Palamecian war machine marches on her lands. The hunter, Priscilla, vows to put an end to their destruction of Gaia's natural resources...

Deep undercover in Palamecia's military ranks, a rebel soldier who's been fighting the Palamecian Empire almost his entire life is about to bring his organization into the light, for the sake of defeating them. With his custom firearms in hand, Kelger joins the fray...

Final Fantasy Discovery is very much about bringing it all together, both in terms of mechanics and the game's story. I hope you enjoy it.

Just played the whole demo. And I have to say it was awesome, Can't wait to see more :)
This looks so awesome! As a big FF Fan I can't wait for this game to be completed!
Just a small update on development...

  • Finished mapping Mysidia Cavern.
  • Finished mapping Mysidia's Chocobo Forest.
  • Started mapping Mt. Mysidia.
  • Tutorial events for Map Abilities Jump and Draw Magic are finished.
  • ALMOST done mapping Mysidia itself.

After all this stuff is all finished, I'll move onto the rest of the Burmecian continent, which will include Figaro Castle, Mideel, Lodestone Cavern, and the Gold Saucer/Dragon's Neck (tentative area names).

Right now I'm focusing on the maps themselves, with events to follow. Events up until the end of the Mysidian Cavern are already finished, though.

As far as playable characters up to the final planned point of development for the next demo, expect to see Ellie and Parker added to your list of heroes before the end of the next demo release.
Small update that should make Clyve happy (think he suggested this): Normal attacks made by party members and enemies no longer bring up the BattleLog window. Only Skill and Items will bring up the BattleLog window.

Took a little while to figure out how to exclude certain skill IDs from bringing up the BattleLog, but it's all done now, with a special thanks to my man, Keith Brewer for adding the code.
Thank goodness.
The way the BattleLog script works by default is so strange to me. I still have to figure out how to get it to pop open and close when I want it to. It also clears the text when states are added even if there's no "add state" message. So stupid.

That script is almost finished, though. Once it is, it'll be available for all.

Just a heads up, anyway: I added two scripts to RMN: Actor Escape% 1.0 + and Land Vehicle 1.1, which allow the party to escape with higher success rates when a certain actor is in the party (Cid's passive ability), and changes the Boat vehicle to move on land, not water.

I think I'll be passing an update through on Actor Escape% + in the next few days that adds a few more options (require actor to be alive, allow states to revert escape formula back to default, etc.)
Haha nice.

May as well give a little update: the game is totally broken. LOL. Something is causing the RGSS Player to crash randomly, so I'm working with someone on figuring out what is causing it, and when I find out, what I can do to eliminate the problem.

So probably no new stuff for a few days while I iron this crash bug out.
Thankies. ;)

And deal with that little bugger for Parker-the-Sex-Goddess, will ya?

Ooh! Search for something on this site maybe, I gave Galv a script written by Mithran that fixes the crashes in VX, it is essentially the same thing in ACE. It works, that's how Pirate Rush got over it's crashes.
I recommend it. The script fixed the problem in the sense that it told me what what things were causing issue - turned out to be Moghunter's weather script.

It creates a .txt file for you with all the problems it detects - very handy.
I will try it. Thanks guys.
It looks really great *subs* hope that a full version will come soon :D

Looks like it's exactly the script I thought it would be. Argh. I've contacted the author.
Parker looks in my opinion so much like a sort of awesome as fuck Mage. Why a gambler :'(
