Final Fantasy Discovery is very much about bringing it all together, both in terms of mechanics and the game's story. I hope you enjoy it.

I like relic better. I think it sounds more "fantasy-like".
I'm thinking about more ways to expand the normal items list, as well. The purpose of that would mainly be for Synthesis recipes and such.

You may use this script found here:

You can, by that way, put more than 999 items in a game.
If this doesn't help, I'm sorry.
If your world map problem was with the size, there's a script that lets you combine maps, to make a bigger one, that can have the size you want, as long as you don't try to put tiles on it(you should have to tile them before combining).Eventing is okay though.Found here:

Random question. I was wondering how Dajh's and Cid's paradigms will work in the game. Will Cid use paradigms that modify his tools? Or does either character have paradigms that modify how well their skills work?
Cid has the following Paradigms:

Pickpocket: Increases Steal success.
Master Thief: Greatly increases Steal success.
Treasure Hunter: More frequent item drops in battle.
Gillionaire: More Gil earned in battle.
Bandit: Changes Steal to Mug.
Artful Dodger: Evasion +20%
Machinist Alpha: Upgrades effects of Auto-Bowgun, Noise Blast, Bio Sprayer
Machinist Beta: Upgrades effects of Drill, Chainsaw, Nanobot Injector.
Machinist Omega: Upgrades effects of Flashbang, Magitek Launcher.

Dajh's Paradigms aren't finalized yet, but here's a few:

Know-It-All: Displays HP gauges for enemies in battle.
Mimicry: Chance to counter enemy attacks with an identical attack.

Its been a little slow. William and I are getting work done at our own pace. Its funny you mention students and stress. The students are the ones giving me a stressful time, hah.

Not sure yet on the beta testing.
Thanks for the reply man. I know this process takes a lot of time, just want to let you know how much I appreciate the hard work you're doing. That type of time and commitment separates the great games from the mediocre ones. Keep up the good work.
I also want to say thanks to you guys as well. I'm really excited for this game. I also like how you guys don't drop off the face of the earth during a project and are never heard from again(I'm looking at you Lost Legecy). Is it hard making the game will still living life?

Very. I know I can say that there are times when I don't touch the game for a month or so, because I'm too busy (or a blizzard hits NYC and I have to work all the time). It's a hobby first, though.

Definitely. Its also a little different when it comes to creating graphical assets. There are times when I don't feel creative and I usually try to take a step back for a little bit because the work will usually suffer if I try to push through without the proper inspiration.

Hey guys this is an amazing job you've done so far! I kinda have the same view like you couillard & janus: Dont get pushed by anyone/thing because making a noncommercial game is still just a hobby!

Takin a step back is a good way to clear your mind from all of those little programming (or sometimes personal...) issues and lets be honest: everyone has some other personal interest than working on a hobbyproject!

A great artist once said: "Inspiration comes with pleasure!"
I find that I'm most inspired to work harder when the script/event stuff I attempt works on the first shot, lol.
Fan game or not, this project is inspiring as hell. I'll become your 213th subber. XD
