Leon - Rebalanced

Continuing on with rebalancing character abilities as the game develops, Leon's up now.

Leon now has the highest Defense/Magic Defense of any single party member, able to withstand a ton of pain from enemy attacks. Leon is best-suited for tanking defense, but he has considerable offensive capabilities, as well. Most of his Holy Art abilities were offensive, but some have changed to give him some support abilities.

Most notably, he now has an ability called Holy Circle, which allows party members to siphon HP with their physical attacks and abilities for a few turns. His Guardian and Sentinel command abilities have undergone some changes as well.

Guardian used to guarantee that single-target attacks from enemies were forced upon Leon. That part of the ability remains true, but he also gains a 20% damage reduction, and cannot act while holding the stance, as well. The upgraded version of the Guardian command, Sentinel, has an 80% damage reduction. Leon cannot act while holding the Sentinel stance, however. He isn't specially targeted by enemies while using it, but if he is attacked, he will immediately counter-attack.

His Holy Art sword attacks have all been given the chance to apply various debilitating status conditions like Weakened, Dizzy, Fatigued and Stun, to name a few.

Finally, his Holy Aura Limit Break ability has been given a small boost, increasing his Attack/Magic/Defense/Magic Defense by 50% and making his Holy Art abilities cost 0 MP for his next three actions.

Some of Leon's Paradigms have also been finalized. Chivalry, for example, lets him take attacks for low-HP allies (just like the famous Cover ability). His Two-Handed Paradigm allows him to deal increased damage with physical attacks. Changing Guardian to Sentinel will require the use of his Indomitable Paradigm. More Paradigms will be announced later on.

Leon is invaluable against enemies that use defense-ignoring attacks. Players will be meeting Leon in the next release, too! :D

sounds good to me!
Questions: Will Leon's 2 handed paradigm have a 2 handed animation or is that just going to be understood?

Are most of his abilities just gonna be offensive, defensive, or healing, or will his choice of paradigms decide whether he is more of a tank, healer, or defensive character?

Last off topic question? Who was your favorite character to design and whose abilities do you think synergize well with Leon's as a character?
1) I'm not sure on changing his attack animations when using the Two-Handed paradigm, but if I have the time for it, I'll definitely do it. I like to cover all the little details I can.

2) His primary role in battle will always be as the party member who can take a hit. He can dish out the damage too, but he won't be as physically strong as, say, Reeve or Beclem. His Judgment Blade skill ignores defense, and he has two other elemental attacks (Hallowed Bolt and Saint's Cross, respectively). All of his offensive Holy Art abilities have the chance to apply some debilitating status conditions to slow the enemy down, like lowering their attack power, taking away their chances to score critical hits, etc.

He has no dedicated healing abilities, but Holy Circle can give party members the ability to heal themselves with physical attacks.

3) Of the artwork that Paul has provided thus far, my favorite designs are most definitely Reeve and Leon. Leon is going to pair up well with any party members who can't take a physical beating, like the mages (Lyra, Wedge, Ellie, etc.). If I had to pick one, I'd say Lyra, since one of Leon's Paradigms enhances his compatibility with her in battles. More on that later.
Does Leon have the Draw Attacks/Taunt ability? If so, then that would be really cool.
... ... ... Yes, it's called Guardian and was covered in this blog post. ;P
Appreciate the fast responses man. I always appreciate when developers are very open and responsive with players and fans. It's not easy dealing with people's expectations and impatience but I just wanted to say we appreciate the work your doing on this project. Do you have a website for your games and other projects as well?
RMN is the home of FFD ;)
