Priscilla - Rebalanced

Priscilla is the last character that needed a second look, with all the new developments going on in the game, and now she's all finished up! =)

STATS

Priscilla is a Ranger, and as such, has incredibly high Speed and Evasion. Her Attack Power, Defense, and Magic Defense are slightly below average, but she has above average HP. Priscilla is also talented with debilitating enemies with status conditions and acts as a very good supportive party member.

COMMAND ABILITY: AIM

Priscilla's command ability should be familiar to any Final Fantasy fan. Aim executes a physical attack, without the possibility of missing. Enemy Evasion is ignored as well. Aim comes with a slight charge time and cannot be used if Priscilla is blinded.

ABILITY SET: SURVIVAL

Priscilla has spent most of her life living off the land as a Ranger, and has some neat tricks up her sleeve to support the rest of the party.

Herbal Mixture: Restores HP and cures Poison, Venom, Disease, Silence, and Curse.

Diversion: Allows the party to immediately escape the current battle. In battles where Diversion cannot be used, a hidden status condition is preemptively applied on Priscilla, preventing her from using Diversion.

Camouflage: Applies Vanish on an ally. Priscilla is the only party member other than Vicks who can apply Vanish on allies (excluding party members equipped with the Phantom Nethicite).

Priscilla has a few more Survival abilities, but I'll leave them out for now.

LIMIT BREAKS

Rapid Fire: Priscilla fires several arrows in succession at a single target, dealing slightly decreased unblockable damage with each shot. Each shot, however, has a high chance to critically hit.

Gaia's Caresss: Cures all negative status conditions, and applies Bravery, Faith, Regen, and Refresh on the party.

PARADIGMS

Barbed Arrows: Physical attacks have a chance to apply Bleeding, a status condition that acts the same as Poison (5% HP degeneration/round) without the possibility of removal or cure.

Hamedo: Chance to preemptively counter physical attacks.

Ambush: Increased chance for a preemptive attack when encountering enemies.

Volley: Allows Priscilla's physical attacks to hit all enemies, with slightly reduced damage.

Woodland Warrior: Changes Priscilla's Aim command ability to Animals.

Sixth Sense: The party cannot be caught in pincer attacks by enemies.

Aerial Specialist: Slightly charges the Limit Break gauge when Priscilla targets flying enemies with attacks. This charge is added to the normal Limit Break gauge charge when attacking.

Nice Try: Safely disarms and deactivates field traps, such as damaging floors and booby-trapped treasure chests.

I'll leave out her final Paradigm for players to find on their own. =)

COMMAND ABILITY: ANIMALS

When using this command, a random animal will execute an ability. There are four different possible results.

Moogle: Restores a small amount of HP/MP to the party.

Chocobo: Slightly charges the Limit Break gauge of an ally.

Moomba: Deals physical damage on a single enemy. Has a chance to apply Stop.

Viera: Deals physical damage on all enemies. Has a chance to apply Blind and Poison.

So that's about it for party member balancing for now.

Sounds great. Didn't know much about this character, but I will definitely try her out when she's available. On another note, with all the changes to the areas of final fantasy discovery were there any serious changes to story elements or characters at all? No spoilers or anything I was just wondering if you had to decide to rewrite some things as a result of the new direction you were taking.
There hasn't been a ton of changes to the story that was already there (some but not a lot) but there is a ton of new characters in the parts of the game we've already played.

The intro will be significantly longer when more new areas are mapped and finalized. Controlling Cid in the Research Facility may not even happen for a good hour or so with the next release. Expect many more NPCs to be involved, too. We're gonna get a peak at all of the game's different nations and the characters important to those regions, playable and non-playable.

I'm hoping to include all playable non-secret characters, but Priscilla may end up being the only one we can't play around with. In that case, I'll probably do something like I did with the RSW release and Lyra, unlocking. The character early once the release is played through.
Now that really does sound interesting. I tried replaying the demo a little while ago and it seems like the game will be veeeeeeeery different from the old demo.

Oh yeah, its going to be waay different indeed. Its just as William said.

I get pretty excited just thinking about it. :D

On another note, hurray for the K-12 school year winding down. That means more time to spend on FFD development and less time babysitting packs of unruly rage-inducing students. As far as graphics go, you can look forward to some new developments during this month.
I'm going to guess that Priscilla's final Paradigm gives her attacks that are stronger against certain types of enemies? It's probably not true, but it's a good guess right?

That's not what it does, but it does affect her attacks in very cool way. Keep in mind that Priscilla's attacks are weaker than average, but she has a talent for hunting and trapping (i.e. applying status conditions). =)
Oh, I forgot to list one of her Paradigms. Updated.

EDIT: Also, just to give players an idea of Pricilla's usefulness, here's who she works pretty well with.

Leon: Both can cause many different status conditions on enemies and alter their ability to counterattack and critically hit enemies, making them a dangerous pair. Leon can also keep enemy physical attacks off of Priscilla with Guardian, compensating her low Defense.

Kelger: Kelger is the only other character that can apply Bleeding (more on Kelger's updates at a later date), Poison and Venom along with Priscilla, allowing them to focus on defense and healing while enemies slowly die off on their own (which is going to be a viable strategy against some of the heavily-armored enemies and bosses you'll be facing).

Parker: Both characters have random chance effects with Slots and Animals, respectively. If you're looking to leave your fate to the RNG gods and just have a little fun, this is a good team-up.

Cid: Flying enemies stand absolutely no chance against this pair, LOL.

Lyra, Leon, and Cid: This is a team that is built purely around debuffing enemies and keeping your healing options open without relying on Vicks. Lyra and Priscilla both have dedicated healing abilities (Bolster, Herbal Mixture), while Leon and Cid have indirect healing abilities (Holy Circle, Nanobot Injector), and all four of these party members have the ability to apply various negative status conditions with ease. Let your targets become their own worst enemy, while you buff and heal yourselves. If your enemies have the same idea, and try debuffing you into oblivion, Lyra's Treatment ability can keep you in the fight.
Wow, that last paradigm seems extremely useful and goes along well with her "Ranger" vibe. It seems like the majority of characters have some type of field specialty as well. I guess using a variety of characters in different areas will help the player find a lot more secrets and treasure.
Map Abilities aren't part of the Paradigm system used in FFD, but certain Paradigms can add new field effects (like Stiltzkin's Paradigm that let's the party communicate with Moogles, or Priscilla's trap-disarming). Her actual field ability lets her fire arrows at distant switches or other objects.
Okay. So the majority of characters will have some outside combat abilities to work with for the most part. I always liked that idea, ever since I played Wild Arms 3 for different characters to be able to interact with the environment. It makes all the characters feel important and unique.

Brings back memories of Lufia 2, Breath of Fire 1 and FF: Mystic Quest for me.

Looking forward to a future Kelger post.

Map Abilities help make dungeons more fun to travel through, but I'm going to try not to rely on it too much. Players will like Ellie's Map Ability, though! :D
Sounds great. Honestly, seeing the theories from the different classes, makes me so hyped for anticipation of seeing them in action.
