Oversoul is a mini-boss encountered in the Macalania Woods. As a mini-boss, he can't go into Crisis Mode, but he's still pretty deadly.

Fun fact: Wedge unlocks his first Paradigm, Aquamancer, during this battle. The only character up until this point in the game without unlocking a Paradigm is Cid.

- Reeve unlocks Pride of Burmecia in Lix (after sparring with Dart).
- Vicks unlocks Great Gospel in Carwen (after defeating the Still Going mission mark).
- Wedge unlocks Aquamancer in Macalania Woods (during mini-boss battle versus Oversoul).

Still figuring out when a good time to drop Cid's Pickpocket Paradigm on players.
Since it's called Pickpocket maybe it should obtained by some kind of thievery act? Like I don't know... Include a NPC with a sidequest of getting an item from an enemy, but that item can only be stealed. You need to steal an item from the enemy to get the Paradigm. Obviously, if it wasn't a random enemy but a set encounter this sidequest would be failable, but if it was a random encounter, then... Or you could make a sidequest where you sneak around some place and have to nab some item and give it to the petitioner.

Just few suggestions.

This game is looking divine, I really can't wait for its completion!

And yes, Pickpocket should be thievery.
If you wanted to be creative, you could have Cid get robbed in a cutscene in a town and have a little side mission to get his money back. But instead of having a direct fight, you could have him sneak and actually steal his stuff back, making him be a true pickpocket.

This is part of the reason I haven't picked a way to introduce his Paradigms yet.

This has been done a billion times, and even though FFD isn't breaking ground in originality, I'm not diving head first into things we've seen over and over again, either.

Don't let that deter you from future suggestions, though! I love feedback!
You know what? You are entirely correct. I actually thought about that after I posted it. I'd say instead of him getting robbed, you could have him get it after using the steal command a certain number of times in combat, sorta like FFX overdrives. Also, does this miniboss have any special mechanics?
Some type of reflex based mini game for pickpocket perhaps? Or an 'operation' type of mini game like you're sneaking a hand into someones pocket? Or one where you pickpocket an npc and then have to get to a safe spot before speedy npc guards can catch you

It's not really a matter of how, it's a matter of when. At what point in the game do I want to give the option to increase the player's chances of stealing items from enemies? That's the question.

The how isn't as important as the when.

In cases like this, I usually defer to Paul. He's got a pretty solid grasp on the pacing of this project.
