Finally I get to write something related to Neil Young (since article about my favorite albums haven't been approved by the admin of website i'm writing for). For me Neil Young's work on this neat colaboration with Jarmusch was the best part. Of course there was this strong story about The Book of the dead. There were some haunting estethics. But it's the musicwhat really made this flic to stand out. And somewhat western theme. Yeah, I like other Jarmusch's films better. Or Lynch's picture shows. Dumbland is so bad!
Bad Man game was made to celebrate fifth anniversary of RMN and therefore made in five hours. Tool used for its creation was classic RPG Maker 2k. Its supposed to be bad good as long as badaptation stands for a bad-ass adaptation.

Dead Story
The Aim was to recreate the one from the original movie. Developer wasn't successful at this. The question stands, did he delivered experience understadable to player with no knowledge of Jarmusch's piece? I guess he did. There are multiple endings. The first one says: "If you shoot things, you are likely to be shot too."
The second is more of the complicated experience. Phylosophical stuff. But there again is simple message, which can be extracted: "When you are dead, you are followed." Its so bad message, isn't it.
I think story part works and that is what matters. I believe it has its strong moments too and that is what makes games bad (I can't write good for any badaptation)

Cigarette break.

Dead Gameplay
Game is story-driven. There are no fights and no puzzles. There is certain amount of free roaming. In inicial area you can walk around and interact with everything. You can get either clever words or shoot it. Shooting is fun. There is one story choice, which is superbly bad as your answer doesn't metter. Second part of the game is linear as once you put events in the move, you are beyond point of turning back. Maybe that is another message of the game.

Intended side-quest weren't implemented.

Dead Art
Graphics are mixed bag. Black and white style has some nice touch to it and it can't be done differently in case of Bad Man. Some of the graphical glitches in woods make environment look more psychedelic, actually. What I am not so fond of are sprites. You play as strange ball with one eye. Some other characters are spheric too. The rest is not. Your murderer and your 'girl' are diferent. Mapping of Machine isn't best either.
Music reminds me slightly of the geniality of the original soundtrack. It definitely fits the game well in its minimalism. I would appriciate, if the instrument were more of the chippy guitar than flute.

Are you suggesting Sphere being Dead?

Dead Man
Author chose some pretty cool film for badaptation and made it dead-bad. I enjoyed it, tho. I loved the minimalism of storytelling and the last scene was essentialy the same as the one in the movie. I can recommand this to every one, who wants to see the film and is in hurry, badly.
