Progress Report #2

Ok, so over the last day things have changed.
The game is now nearly an hour long, and I'm still making chapter 1 out of about 10.
I'll be working faster but more carefully too, since I took a pretty long break from this in May.

So it has come to my attention that there are some bugs in the current version, which have since been changed. Since I'm about to do the 5 minutes before the first major dungeon, I'm going back and fixing every bug that's reported to me.
So, here's what I've changed

-The one warp glitch (not present in the latest demo)
-Text being cut-off
-Typos
-Event bugs

I'm also polishing more maps.

The next progress report will be tomorrow. Meanwhile, be sure to download the demo that still has cut-off text (don't worry, you're not missing anything important. Trust me) and a few typos.

Cool, going to give this a look. I like the concept.

Wow 200Mb, is that a rtp version? If so can you do a non-rtp one? Most of us have the rtp installed already.
It doesn't have RTP included. I just have a shitload of custom music.

Ok, no problem.

I've only played about 30-40 minutes so far, and I am going to continue playing but a couple of notes to be going on with.

At the beginning you are given a choice as to which class you want your main character to be, that's cool. Except there is no explanation as to what those classes are.
Spell-caster (is that a white or black mage, is it elemental, or a all-rounder)
Hunter (are we talking Ranger, therefore Soldier/Healer or Bard Songmaster/Fighter, or an Archer)
Aura Knight (Paladin Soldier/Light, or Grunt straight out Tank)
and sorry I can't remember the 4th.

I chose Hunter, but obviously I was meant to choose Spell-caster because in the description of Dread it says spell-caster. Would the spell-caster have had healing spells because neither of my characters do at the moment and I'm getting poisoned in every battle.

The to-do list states buy a sword and shield, well no-one in the town sells a shield and the bow (as I chose Hunter) gives me a better attack.

There doesn't appear to be any use for the TP, as there are no special skills associated with it, nor an option to learn any. I'm currently at Level 4, happy to assume that I pick up those skills later for both characters. However in your update it states 'After each battle, use TP to up your stats!' I can't see an option for that, and I think that would be cool.

Anyway taking a break to get some work done, I'll have another go at this later.

Yeah I'm planning on expanding the classes so they make sense.
Also, at the very beginning of the game there aren't really any skills but as you level up you start being able to use them. It's just so you're not instantly thrown into intricate strategic battles.

Ok played a little further, and the TP skills kicked in, so that's good. I'll have to experiment to see how useful they can be but at least they are there...still no healing spells though. Hoping that turns up soon or I'm just going to run from every fight.

Thank the gods you have save anywhere, if I had to go through multiple battles (and the battle spawn thing is a great twist, frustrating but great) to run to save I'd be dead 10 times over.

Speaking of battles, can you tell me why there are random encounters inside the towns? I understand at the training area - that makes sense you'd have monsters to train against. But outside the village square, where the entertainments are going on? On the doorstep of the Inn, in the housing estate, and most tellingly between the square and the school? What parent is going to send their child through a monster infested village green to school? In fact what citizen is going to allow monsters to roam freely through their streets and parks?

Towns are supposed to be safe havens. It's the wilds between where the monsters roam. This town (and I've only reached Charge so far, but the home village was the same) would have been denuded of children, the elderly and anyone unable to wield a weapon in pretty short order.

I like the fact you've got 'tame' versions of the monsters in the towns but that actually makes the roaming ones even odder. It's like you put your pet dog to bed next to a wolf's den and somehow not expect it to go feral, or get killed.

Also, why does Dread's sprite have wings? If both he and Rhen are from the same planet and place and appear to be the same age (with matching hair colour, facial markings, ears etc) surely they grew up together and are of the same race? So why doesn't she have wings? Or is it only the males that do? In which case a comment about that would be appropriate and add a layer to the character interaction.

In relation to that the characters are both the same age, both the same level and both competent fighters (hell, Rhen is a dual wielder of staves, that takes skill and strength) but their HP is wildly divergent. Dread is at 4283 and Rhen is 1593. Even accounting for gender, which doesn't account for much when people follow the same training regimen, that's a huge gap.

Ah, I appear to have written a magnum opus, not my original intent, but you can see I'm interested in the game!

Edited to add the following bugs I found when I continued

In the school district if you walk around the guardian and then talk to her from the other direction the game freezes. I’m assuming it’s an event meant to make you walk down but of course since she’s downstep from you, you can’t.
In the school section the battles with the plasma have no battlebacks (well other than the standard swirling thing).
Ressurection Juice should be spelt Resurrection
Something is very odd in the arena. I walked in there at level 8 with about 1000 Rupees, I walked out after 10 fights at Level 40 with almost half a million. The experience/gold was off the charts. Though the monster were always a higher level than I was, and the rewards were normal if the monster combo didn’t kick in.

Not sure I should mention this one but in the first town if you go looking for Rhen before you get your sword she’s not there and you can raid the chests, when you get your sword and go back she is there and the chests reset so you can raid them again.

Right I'm done for the night, hope some of this was helpful.
