Mana Quest 2 tells the story of Sir Ryan from Mana Quest 1. Sir Ryan has been a noble warrior for the Kingdom of Azuli his entire life. He is shocked and confused when he is suddenly and unexpectedly cast out of the castle that he called home and told to leave the kingdom or die. He is marked as a traitor.

The only person who believes his innocence is Princess Lilly who he grew up training together with. Finding other friends who are dissatisfied with the king Ryan continues his journey across the rainy kingdom of Azuli to find the answers to why he was banished and to find his friend Princess Lilly once more.

Featuring music by Three Steps From Hell, Delain, and Epica. Mana Quest 2 is a short and simple yet fun RPG. Made in honor of my good friend Ryan and his room mate Matt.

I just uploaded the completed version of Mana Quest 2! Now this game isn't too fancy or anything, just fun. It is a prequel to Mana Quest and deals with Ryan and his back story.

ouch poison bees on the world map right after that fight with no heals!?

the game freezes in the inn if you interact with the box in the room where the dog attacks you.
(after battle/you win)

you can save anywhere normally but this option is disabled if you use the nuns make a record option in the church in the 1st town

the offering at the church has no purpose. something should happen after giving enough money

its nice to see looting chests can actually effect the game. even if to a minor dialog change

the mapping is utter shit in some areas...like the north west cave...is HUGE and the random battles make it worse!

that really uncomfortable moment when you have a female succubus sprite with a male avatar

...really need to put a encounter negate ability...this is really annoying.

interacting with the swords that allow you to save disables free saving

the castle...=more bullshit but probably the lest tedious dungeon mapping wise

you go thru these terrible dungeons and you don't even get a shortcut after finishing them to get out >.>

Karie is a mage and her gear does not increase her spirit.

the swamp is hell...i cant deal with this...

General 1H+ Dropped (a very very tedious experience)
Good
Nothing

Bad
The characters (uninspiring,dull,have no depth)
plot (almost non existent. the plot is random battles)
gameplay (lots of meaningless random battles, and medium/large mazes for maps)
entertainment (very stressful)

Overall
i would not recommend this to anyone.
*wanders into cave, swamp, or snow area*
*wins an easy battle*
*expects another winnable battle, given it's the same exact area, but gets KO'd in one round*

Hoped to find an area in which the difficulty and experience earned was somewhat balanced. No dice. Also, I got a game over in the first battle five times (due to the poison attack.) Plus the gamebreaking can't-get-your-ship back and fight-dog-who's-actually-a-wolf-who-wears-loose-pants bugs happened to me as well.

Ow.

For myself and others who decide to try this game....

DO NOT PARK YOUR SHIP next to the first town....you can never get it back:(
When you leave town the next time, your ship is one square up and you can't go
back up or you reenter the town.... too bad, have to start over :(
I'm a bit perplexed.Got Lily,beat the "Evil King",after which,Lily is dead....The End???
Never got into the tower.(special item needed)
Is this it? Or did I miss something???
I did save before beating the King.
After beating him,I was asked to save, but,I saved in a different spot.
When I open that save I get only ending credits.
Hi, as far as the tower goes, I made the game sort of open world open ended so that depending on how many people you help and how much you do you get different endings. I apologize for the horrible battle system and boring dungeons. I used the pre-made encounters and also dungeon creator because this was made during the 30 day trial. I would usually be more detail oriented. I also have never used the program before so it was a little touch and go with how everything worked. Thank you for all your comments. hopefully after I get the full version of one of these programs I can make better games that have a more fulfilling experience than this one.

So getting into the tower gives you a better ending.

The magic stone to open the tower can be found in town.

Next time I will make sure the people have GOOD abilities that come more quickly. Not so much boring grinding. Hopefully I can design a better battle screen with a better battle system.

Once again THANK YOU to everyone for trying it out and for their input.

Also check out that great review by thatbennyguy for a look closer into the game. Thanks thatbennyguy!
Strange - I just beat the game and never got into the tower ???
I'm at level 15 now - lisa joined at level 30 - a lot of grinding - can get to the king but haven't been to the tower yet - which I believe I should go first ???
I'm about to do my review of your game, but... your willowisps are incredibly overpowered. They killed me 5 times in a row. #justsayin
Sooooo...hows about responding to some of these observations? Seems even Dennis has a question or two.

Enjoying the game so far but there is a lot of grinding around the first town w/o much to show for it. Apparently monsters never drop items? You can save in the first town but it costs money. You go to the cave in the south and right inside the door there is a save point, but in the cave to the NW I havent seen one yet. I havent gone far because the monsters there are still too tough overall. In the ice cave the first cottage you enter a fight with 3 characters which wipe the floor with you and then game over.
I am having to go to the inn and then go to the cave to save in order not to spend money to save. Money isnt that available so it adds insult to injury having to pay to save. Also in town at the inn upstairs to the left if you loot the chest and fight the dog afterwards the game freezes.
When do skills kick in? My guys are level 6 and nothing.
If you arent careful when you leave the castle and take the ship to town, if you dock at the north end of town, you cant get back aboard since there is only one entrance and exit and it is from the south. You will be stuck.
I hope it doesnt seem I am trashing the game because I surely am not but there are some things which detract from the overall gameplay and I think others will tell you essentially the same things I am. Thanks.

I don't feel like you're ripping the game apart. I love the feed back! This is the first COMPLETE game I've had of positioning on here! It is sort of a test to see if I could even make a decent game. Thanks to everyone for playing! hopefully it is a little fun, even if it has its difficulty and glitches!
Anyone know where to get the magic item needed to open the tower?? Thanks
Matt gets a worthless skill at level 10. Game breaker for me when I go to the inn and have to fight the dog - game stops working - its only 5 gold so I just avoid it ! After level 10 I had know save ability at all except for the cave with the sword ??
After gaining one more level I was able to obtain Karie as a member which helps a bit, but she is the only one with any skills. At level 7 which cave should I be attempting anyway?
