What I meant is, it should be roughly one third of a square longer, which is about the counter's height. Not 4-5 squares longer, which would be equal to the counter's length.
I managed to find an example. Look at the part of light that's on the stove, and look at how the beam keeps coming toward the camera on the countertop's facade and on the floor. If the camera took a shot from the same angle as in your screenshot, we would clearly see that the light is not shaped as a rectangle.
I understand now what you meant but I still a beginner and it will hard for me to consider the sun's position to determine how to place my light effects.
