DISCLAIMER: If you're looking for an easy and short SMBX game, you'd better look somewhere else. :D If you're looking for a challenging game however, look no further! Don't think of this game as a normal SMB3 style or SMW style game where levels are short, simple and sweet. Treat this game like a hardtype romhack of sorts; these levels are sure to put your skills to the test!

Story: Sarasaland has been in peace for some time after the alien Tatanga's defeat by the hands of Mario. However, the evil King Bowser has come to Sarasaland to cause major trouble. His true intentions are unknown, but it has been reported that he has built some kind of city deep underground, where he can hatch his plans to torment Sarasaland. Princess Daisy, Sarasaland's princess, contacts the only one who she knows can help: Mario. So he naturally rushes to her aid. But Princess Peach also wants in on some of the action, and so she decides to tag along and help instead of waiting back home at Mushroom Kingdom. And maybe she may get some retribution on Bowser for kidnapping her so many times!

Objective: Travel through the transformed areas of Easton, Birabuto, Muda, Chai and more as Mario and Peach gather 190 stars scattered throughout Sarasaland. When they have found enough stars, they can find and challenge Bowser in the final level. Secret exits are in some levels; including warp zones and item houses to help out the duo during the journey.

Also, features a two-way warp system, so players can warp around Sarasaland and complete levels in any sort of order they please. You can return to earlier worlds if you find a reverse pipe. There is a reverse warp pipe hidden in each world except for worlds 1 & 8. Likewise, there are warp zones hidden in the first five worlds. At the start of each level is a small room; this room's purpose is to give the player a general idea of what to expect in the level, how it will look, and to inform the player of how many stars he/she has found (sort of like in a hub system). This way, if the player is missing any stars, he/she can check the level's entrance door (or pipe) and see for themselves. The player can exit back to the world map from this small room, or the player can enter the level itself by using the door (or pipe). Warp zones will also allow the player to exit to the world map in case the player decides not to use it.

Later levels are more lengthy and more difficult than other SMBX games, be advised.

The game uses music from various major Mario titles, Mario spinoffs, and a few from other titles, like Kirby series, DK series, and much more. Some are very recognizable, others, not so much. Maybe.

For the record, a perfect game is 190 stars and 98 exits.

IMPORTANT!! This game now uses LunaLua. Big filesize. Use the SMBXLauncher.exe found with the package only to run it. Every level in the game uses music and/or graphics not already found in the default version of SMBX. Also, if you have a working gamepad or controller of some sort, you might want to use it. Please DO NOT COMPLAIN TO ME that you're experiencing crashes/errors/graphical/BGM issues on the world maps if you're playing the game from a different SMBX executable. This game will only run fully by using the SMBXLauncher.exe it comes with.

Have fun and good luck!

3.1 update

Greetings.

Apparantly, as I was surfing the web one day, I just so happened to see a post about someone having trouble completing one of the later levels of the game, but the person never bothered to contact me directly to tell me, so that's really the only reason why it took so long for me to find out about this. Anyway, in level 7-2, it was impossible to collect all 3 stars from the level, ultimately meaning that the player couldn't access the final level. If the player grabbed the goal star, the second star wouldn't appear, and if the player grabbed the second star, the goal star wouldn't count towards the player's star total. So, this small update to the game fixes that problem - the second star has been repositioned to a room earlier. There are also a few other small changes that are noted within the Read-Me file.

There is a small patch file that includes the 7-2 fix as well as the other changes; you only need it if you already have the game downloaded on your system.

If you're having problems in World 2, you might as well stop playing the game now. World 2 is not even that hard, compared to later worlds. Maybe the game isn't for you. :/
It's not even that it's hard the levels are too long.
completely takes away the fun of it when you get to a halfway only to do basically a whole new level, split them up next time, no mario level in the history of 2d platform is that long. It's challenging yeah but like I said, it's just plain stupid. Like I said it's not that it's hard it's just not fun when you put annoying things in.
I am also playing via keyboard, If I had a controller this would be a joke.
For the record I am already passed world 2 and about to finish 3. I appreciate you challenging me, because this is the only game that has actually challenged me out of all the games for SMBX on here. frustration only drives me harder to topple things. I didn't mean to insult you, I was only frustrated and spoke out of anger lol. I applaud you though, you have managed to challenge me!!!
I think one of my problems is that I hate peach and I Never used her unless I obviously have no choice. The only time I have a problem with a level is when I have to play as peach, I HATE peach and I never even used in her in Mario 2. Everything else is a breeze when I'm Mario. Fast tracking my way to world 4 in no time, keep making games, I am stoked to be challenged.
I played the original Mario bro on it's release date on September 13 1985 and every game after that. So trust me when I say this game IS for me.

Just because something is challenging doesn't mean I'm about to hang it up and walk away, there is no game out there that is unbeatable. Like I said before, the game isn't hard, it's annoying that you made levels where you HAVE to play as toadstool, I hate everything about her, her stupid floating thing messes with you especially when you have to use a spring or one of the mario 3 music note springs. Please don't insult my intelligence and skill, you obviously don't know what it means to be a dedicated gamer if you would easily dismiss things and tell me to just "stop playing the game now." Giving up is never an option, if you fall down 7 times you stand back up 8 and like I said in one of my previous posts, I'm way past world 2. As you can see, Mario and gaming as a whole Is something I'm extremely passionate about and I just don't give up.

I tried this out a few days ago. Didn't get too far though: Only to 1-5 or thereabouts.

I really liked that first fortress. The tower bit in particular.

The one with the Birdo boss? A bit confused because there's very few vertical sections in there. Unless you were talking about the second room; the one with the orange beanstalk?
Just found this game. I'm gonna check it out!
I got stock on level 1-1 because the koopa won't kick the shell. It just glitches out and walks through it.
Edit: I got around it using another glitch.

In the first castle, Birdo's death sprite is pink instead of green, and his/her fireballs turn into eggs when they get hit.

Thanks for the heads-up. I'll fix them in a later patch.
In level 1-8, it is a good idea to put a solid wall on the left side of
Lemmy Koopa's map so he does not walk away during the battle.
Also level 2-4 could use a little bit more polish.
Otherwise, great game :D
Thanks for the feedback. I've been meaning to do something about level 2-4 for a while now, just haven't gotten around to it.
Can I use the graphics for my episode ???
and also the music and stuff too
??????????????????????????????
