Despite the "Old-School" vibe that Heroes of Tsufana gives through its visuals, the gameplay is going to be a step above. Nothing innovative, original, or entirely "new," but enough to separate it from the grindfest that some folk may have in mind when they first happen upon this game.
What are some of these things? Well...
-NO GRINDING. That's right. There will be absolutely no need to grind in this game. It's gonna be a player's choice, and not a requirement. It will be more of a game of gradual progression and endurance+resource management than a need to gain 5-6 levels before every new dungeon. But then again most of my games are like this, so it's not ENTIRELY new.
-Saving! It can only be done at priests in towns, and I'm not changing that. Ha. There ARE a few exceptions, but they are few and far between, and only appear where I've deemed it necessary to give the player a chance to save at that given time.
-Difficulty spikes? Not entirely present. There will never really be a time where you will go from one area to the next and be presented with enemy encounters that are FAR harder than what you'd been fighting against in the previous area. This WILL be the case if you stumble upon an area you're not meant traverse at the point you're at, but other than that it won't be an issue.
-Exploration! There's gonna be a lot of it. Tons of treasures to find, optional area to look, and a massive world to get totally lost in. So I intend to put a few things here-and-there to help players get their bearings, among other random conveniences such as being able to summon your ship at certain points instead of searching for it all the time. I'll also provide a map of the World once the game's been completed, then upload a legit (un-paint) version here on the Game Page. Don't worry though, as it shouldn't be THAT hard to go off-course once you've got yourself situated.
Aaaaand... I think that's about it for now. Just know that, despite the old-schoolness I'm trying to pull off here, I'm also attempting to cater towards more (for lack of a better word) "Casual" gamers as well.
