Liked Castle Oblivion 3? Check out the Remake of the original Castle Oblivion! http://rpgmaker.net/games/7548/

New to the series? For all of you who are new to Castle Oblivion Series, I highly recommend you to check the "History of Castle Oblivion" section!

Story:
A scientist known as Evan has his own hobby of exploring places around the world. Rumor has been told that a treasure is hidden somewhere on a very rare island that is said to be hidden deep within a fog so thick that not even the eye of a deaf captain could see it. As the young scientist prepares to sail out in the sea in hope to find the hidden island, a greater evil awaits them that neither Evan or his companion are aware of. Will this treasure hunt turn out as it was expected, or will a drastic wave change the course of this adventure?

World:
The story takes place on the ancient island of Strombidge. This island isn't the normal paradise you'd travel to on your vacations, this is the island that's so well hidden that no one's ever found it. The story also takes action in a place beyond reality. Is it a dreamworld, or is it a paradise? Is it even real? You'll have to find out about that yourself!

Gameplay and Mood:
The gameplay takes place in 2 different worlds! On the mystic island, Strombidge and inside the floors of The Castle. The game is meant to be fun to play, exciting, emotional, scary and challenging. CO3 will deliver an epic mix of both reality AND imagination. So if you're the fan of games based on true reality or the fan of the games that are surprisingly imaginable, stay on, this game might do the trick for both of you.

Features:
- A mysterious castle filled with over 9 different worlds to explore!
- Exciting and climactic story with twists!
- Fun gameplay with a good mix of exploration, battles, puzzles, scenes and more!
- Well mapped areas with beautiful, creepy, mysterious and unique atmospheres.
- Minimap system that displays in your upper left corner which you can turn on/off at almost any point!
- Secrets! Hidden arrows, items, skills, bosses, rooms, side quests and all kinds of goodies! Gives the game a good replay value.
- A challenging difficulty. The game requires thinking, rather than repetitive
button mashing.
- Two endings! A good and a bad one.

Estimated game length: 30-40 hours.

4000+ Downloads Thank You & New Game Announcement

Howdy! I'd like to dedicate this post to all of you who have decided to give CO3 a go. It's been really wonderful to hear from so many of you that you've enjoyed the game so much, even though it's my very first game. Seeing CO3 alive and active today is a great and motivating treat that keeps me going and exited to develop more and more games. Thanks for everything, guys.

Another thing that I would like to mention concerns the latest game I'm working on. It's called "Cold at Heart" and even though it may not look like CO3 and the CO1 Remake for that matter, it's still pretty similar. Like the Castle Oblivion games, Cold at Heart is at its very core a dungeon crawler.

The game is inspired by games like Super Metroid and Resident Evil and features fully custom graphics and a soundtrack (composed by myself). You can check out the game by clicking on the following logo:

Please note that the game is still in production. The demo available is currently in its Alpha stage, so any potential bugs, or errors are most likely going to be fixed for the full release.

Thanks for reading and don't forget to stay tuned for my upcoming projects!

Grown up with consoles, I thought so :)

Passage of the Hollow Moon is already the next game on my list, but right now I'm still in chapter 10 of FD2.

Atmosphere has a lot to do with detailed mapping and fitting music imo and is also very important to me. The atmosphere of F8 is rather depressing and somber in a haunting way, which touches me more than for example the absolut bautiful island in F4.

Concerning the atmophere I felt a rather deep connection between floor 8 and the oblivion realm, if you know what I mean - kind of difficult sometimes, to put my thoughts in words.
Maybe, that is the reason, why I like this last dungeon so much.
Yes, very good thing, that you made it so big :)

Ever since the Nes ;)

Yes, those two are very important concerning atmosphere. I aimed for a somber theme when I made F8. The dark and grey colors in the environment gave the maps a somber look and the music did its work as well. Another important thing is the partys reaction when they arrive at the Floor, how they feel about being in outer space and all... F4 has a pretty neutral atmosphere, but I also think it feels quite "dreamy", mostly because of the music.

I see what you mean, both areas feel pretty surreal compared to the other Floors. Also, it is quite a somber moment when the party makes the last stretch. The music is kind of depressing at that moment as well.
Heh, I'm glad I didn't do all that for nothing :)
Looks like you have succeeded as far as I'm concerned. :)
When I saw that Island the first time, the words "dreamy" and "peaceful" came directly to my mind and I have already described F8 as somber.

Yes,that was what I meant - The atmosphere of those two places in comparison to the other floors and "surreal" was exactly the term, I was looking for.

To put it in a nutshell, "Castle Oblivion 3" is not only the longest RPG Maker game, I have ever played, but also one of my favourites.
That's cool! How long did it take for you to finish it? :P
About 67 hours including some hours for backtracking
As you see, I like to take my own sweet time. ;)
Wow! I really didn't see that number coming! O.o I made a speedrun and it took me about 30 hours. It's probably because I am the creator, always knowing where to go, all tricks etc. I like to take my time with games I enjoy as well :)
Probably it has a lot more to do with the simple fact, that it always takes more time for me than for the other players to finish a game. :)
Because I almost never replay I try to see everything, there is to see in my first and only playthrough.
Ah, I see. It is a true fact that the first playthrough is often the most enjoyable and memorable one. There are some games I like to replay though :P
Do you use any walkthroughs when you play?
There are games, which are worth to be replayed, can't argue with that :)

But my main reason for playing a game is always the plot and/or the characters. If none of this really grips me, there is no motive for me to finish the whole thing at all. That's why after one playthrough, when I know the complete story, there is not much excitement left for me, to go through the game again.

I think, it's lot more fun to discover everything on my own, therefore I mainly use walkthroughs, when I have not the slightest idea how to proceed. :)
Doggone it! You went and put a timer on Larry's Little Pet! And I just can't seem to beat it. Any sharp suggestions?
It's the same thing with books, once you've read it and found out how the story ends, it won't be as good to read the next time around. RPGs however, have also Gameplay and more to come back for.
Of course, good books can also be read more than once.

@Evilmumrah

I know I'm evil! xD That boss has no elemental weaknesses/strengths, therefore, you could use any kind of magic you want. You basically just need to take him out as fast as you can. Do physical attacks with Rebecka, use heal skills and "Shine!" with Evan and do magic attacks and use items such as bombs with Shaun and Vera. What level is your party at?
You ARE evil! Evan and Rebecka are 32, Shaun is 31 and Vera is 30. Do I need to do some more grinding or is that sufficient?
That is definitely enough! You should give it another shot! One thing though, don't use Evan's Holy! spell. It's not effective at all :P
Thanks for the advice. I'll keep trying ...
What!?! I just beat Larry's Little Pet with 8 seconds to spare and still died when the clock ran out! I got the gold and drops and the experience points and everything. I am unhappy.
Huh? That has never happened to me or the testers/players before! :O I think the timer still kept going in the battle aftermath, which it really shouldn't be... I think I might now how to fix, but in the mean time, feel free to go inside the editor and lower the boss HP. You have my(the creators) allowance to do that. I'm sorry, I understand that made you pretty unhappy!

Also, did the timer keep going during the battle aftermath or did it not stop when you got back to the scene?
I have no idea how to edit anything. I only play 'em, I don't know how to make 'em. LOL. As I recall, it just kept counting down. As I said, I did it with little time to spare. I just know it was at zero when it went back to the scene after I got the rewards. (Oh, and if something weird is going to happen, it's going to happen to me. Guaranteed.)
Ah, I see. I think the problem is that it kept going in the aftermath, so I'll need to make the timer stop a little bit before the boss is defeated. Don't worry, I'll look into it. You could always try again if you want, since I bet you'll get pass it if you have more time to spare. A speedrun of the aftermath wouldn't be a bad idea ;) Yeah, you just happened to that unlucky guy this time :/
I'll try again later. If you find a fix for it, let me know. I'm not sure I can do it again with any more time to spare.
Of course! I'll keep you updated!
