4000+ Downloads Thank You & New Game Announcement

Howdy! I'd like to dedicate this post to all of you who have decided to give CO3 a go. It's been really wonderful to hear from so many of you that you've enjoyed the game so much, even though it's my very first game. Seeing CO3 alive and active today is a great and motivating treat that keeps me going and exited to develop more and more games. Thanks for everything, guys.

Another thing that I would like to mention concerns the latest game I'm working on. It's called "Cold at Heart" and even though it may not look like CO3 and the CO1 Remake for that matter, it's still pretty similar. Like the Castle Oblivion games, Cold at Heart is at its very core a dungeon crawler.

The game is inspired by games like Super Metroid and Resident Evil and features fully custom graphics and a soundtrack (composed by myself). You can check out the game by clicking on the following logo:

Please note that the game is still in production. The demo available is currently in its Alpha stage, so any potential bugs, or errors are most likely going to be fixed for the full release.

Thanks for reading and don't forget to stay tuned for my upcoming projects!

CO3 Got Featured On the Front Cover of A Magazine!

So, I recently got a message from HBGames' Amy about this game being featured in a magazine. Hmm, it must be from that old Advanced RPG Maker Issue where it got mentioned.

Read the magazine here!

But look who was wrong, there was actually a lot more to it. This game did not only make it to the cover of the issue, it got its own article as well! This...is quite a surprise for me, since I know that the game isn't "perfect" by any means, but still...wow. I want to thank Amy at HBGames.org and HBGames themselves for giving my game some love. I really appreciate it!

Even though this might not sound like a big deal, it is to me. This is a great and motivational start for 2016 for me. I will use this motivation to work harder on my next projects, which might see the light of day soon-ish (like in a few months, or something).

I want to take the time to thank everyone for playing this game as well. The comments I have received have truly been heartwarming for me. I'll make sure to make a new blog thanking different people, like I did in this blog.

Castle Oblivion: Remake Announcement and Truths Revealed!

That's right, I'm not dead! More importantly: this series isn't dead!

Some of you may be very excited for this and some of you may be a tad disappointed. Why? Well, since I'm making a Castle Oblivion game again.

"What's wrong with you, luiishu!? You already gave us one of these, heck, you even completed the trilogy! Just give us something new, something fresh, something that's originally yours! Whatever happened to Legend of Mango or that other game you were teasing us with?

Gargh! I'm so mad you, game designer! I mean, get it together for realsies!"

Let's address these questions/assumptions:

1. What's wrong with you?

Nothing, really. Actually, life feels pretty good now when you talk about it!...

2. You already gave us one of these, heck, you even completed the trilogy!...

Yes and no. I originally started working on CO3 just because I thought the concept was easy. Pretty straight forward plot, Floor/level progressing, simplicity (or kelarly made it look very simple from CO1 & II. Not all of these points were true.

The game suffered from a serious lack of planning, up to the point that I basically just knew that the 8th Floor was going to be in outer space. A lack of planning can cause various problems, like: plot-holes, style inconsistency and sometimes unnecessary adding to the game (or filler, as it is called in some occasions). I did not see all the extra hard work I made as filler. The Castle Oblivion series IS (intended or not) a dungeon crawler at its heart. The length and scope of the game added to that experience IMO.

It doesn't cut though that CO3 was only meant to be my first game and not my first EPIC. I simply made it because I wanted to fulfill my big dream: to finally finish a single game of my own. I did fulfill it and it still to this day feels great to have it accomplished.

In short: CO3 was never meant to take so long to develop, but in the end I finally made it. If you've been waiting for me to just finish the game, so that I can start a new one immediately, I'm sorry to keep you waiting all these years. That was the plan at first though (I'll go into detail more a bit later.)

I did sort of "end" the trilogy, in a way at least. A complete remake of the two original COs has been in both me and some fans mind for quite a long time.

The reason why I'm remaking the games though? Why now?

This is because of a man known as the13thsecret. He contacted me a couple of months ago and told me that he enjoyed CO3 and would like to do something with the series with me. I told him about the plans I had for the CO remakes and as he is a writer, he gladly offered himself to write the main script and plot for the remakes. This is a pretty big thing for me, especially after experiencing how much time and effort it takes to make a full game by yourself.

Had it not been for the13thsecret, I would not have been working on the remakes this early, or any games seriously before, after CO3s release (mainly since I was on a vacation/recovery from my gam mak adventures and more focused on finishing my studies and getting a job).

As you probably can tell from reading this, it relieves quite a ton to be working with an actual writer. Some of you may know that my first language isn't actually English, but Swedish.

Since I released CO3, working on games in teams have crossed my mind quite often, since it lets the members of the team focus on their own individual strengths.

3. Whatever happened to Legend of Mango or that other game you were teasing us with?

On hold and definitely not forgotten. None of my previous game are officially canceled and they never were.

There are many old and new games/ideas/concepts that I'd like to try out in the future. As it seems now, I am trying to walk the path of teamwork, so that I can use my time to work on my strengths instead of trying to be do it like Jack (-of all trades, in case someone reading this is called Jack or feels offended somehow).

This is what I've got for now. To put a smile on this blog post (and hopefully on your face as well), I'll top this off with some nifty screenies from my truly awesome and new project!

Belated 1 year anniversary & thanks for 2000+ downloads!

Better late than never, right? I've probably said this a thousand times before, but I truly am grateful for all the things you've done. To think that it's already been a year since CO3s release is kind of crazy in its own way.
Thanks again for making my 3+ years of hard work worth it!

Concerning new & upcoming projects:
Progress have been made indeed, but I still don't feel quite ready to to announce anything just yet (damn you, Silly-Mango and your silly secrets!). This is mainly because I want to have a fully playable demo by the time the game page is up. Also, the fact that the sooner I put the game up, the more you guys will have to wait for the games completion. But rest assured, it won't be too long till' my silly secrets have been unfold! I'm aiming hoping for an announcement this March!

Until then, take care!

Optional Bosses ready for battle!

In case you missed the new patch I added, I'll be happy to announce that the secret bosses I talked about a few of months ago are finally released! There are a total of 10 new optional and challenging boss battles as of this update! Can you find them all? Or even better, can you defeat em' all?
Here's a little trailer I made for it:

Only thing you'll need to do is to download the new patch and replace the Data File with the old one in the game folder.
If you'd happen to have any troubles, feel free to comment or send me a PM.

With that out of the way, I'll continue back to work on my future project(s). There might be even more coming sooner than I expected, so DEFINITELY stay tuned for more updates!

More secret bosses in progress!

Yeah, that's right, there are actually hidden "super bosses" in CO3! I haven't really mentioned them that much before, but they're there, just not in the actual released game. I figured I'd release an updated version when I've got at least the secret floor bosses done. There will actually be 10 secret bosses in the 9 floors only and even more outside of them.

I know, it's taking some time, but to be honest, I haven't touched CO3 all that much after the official release back in February, mainly because I've been lucky for having minimal amounts of bugs reported(heavy beta testing sure is rewarding).

Right now, I've finally got a somewhat working computer, so that means I'm back to work! :)
With that out of the way, I'll keep you guys updated as I progress not only on this game, but on my upcoming game(s). See y'all later and thanks a million for taking the time to play my game! ;)

A week later...

Folks, it's been a week since I released CO3 and so far, so good. With 200+ downloads of the full game I must say, I'm pretty satisfied. I've heard good things about the game both on the web and IRL, which delights me. Right now, I only know of one player who's managed to beat it(real ending and all). I guess it takes some time to finish since it took me about 30 hours to more or less speed run the game AND that's done by me, the creator himself! I just hope not too many have got stuck or something. I DO plan to make a walkthrough for it in the future, I just need some time.

I guess it's that bad of a thing that not too many have beat it yet, cause' I still have some bonus content to make. There are actually about 10+ secret bosses with more on top that. It's not a ton of work, but it could take a short while at least. I'll probably start working on it the upcoming week.

As for future plans, I'm having a bit of a rough time deciding what my next game is going to be like. I have so many ideas for games I want to make, which can be both a good and a bad thing. Well, I guess it definitely is a good thing in the long run... More info on future plans will arrive later!

Stay tuned for more updates and have fun with the game and good luck to those who plan on beating it!

It has been done...

The game, it is finally complete and ready to be played. It feels kind of strange been to be honest, after how long I've
working on it. Nevertheless, it has been done, so... Well, what are you waiting for? Go play it and have fun already!
VIDEO:

Truly, this feels great. It's a dream come true, an accomplished goal! I believe in hard work and dedication, for those are the things
that made this happen! I'm pretty satisfied with the game now after my latest playthrough. It's my very first game as well and I've
learnt a lot from it, both in and outside development. I really hope that those who decide to try out the game will have a good time.

Also, don't forget to let me now what you think about it and of course, if you encounter any bugs or whatnot, just let me know.
Enjoy!

Request

Call for FULL GAME Beta Testers(I'm Hungry!)

I finally finnished my test playthrough of the game earlier today(which felt great)! Now, before I release this beast, I'd like to make shout out for testers.
It will be a testing from start to finnish(story wise). I haven't finnished all optionals, like the secret bosses. So, this beta test will exclude most of the bonus material.

If you wish to become a tester, then don't hesitate to tell me! You can comment or send me a PM, whatever you prefer.

There's a very big request for faster testers as well and by fast. As you've probably heard me before, I don't have too much time on hands at the moment, but this week and the next is a GREAT week for me. A lot of stuff are heating up now during these few last months of HS. I don't want to sound to stressy, but time is really the currency I'm most short on.

The 3+ years I've worked on this game have indeed given me a hunger to finnish it. I'm actually starving to release this game, so if you'd like to be a part of this last phase, tell me right away!

Progress Report

Making progress from time to time... Early Trailer?

It's been quite a busy 2014 so far! By that, I mostly refer to school and duties alike. But the thing is that these duties steal time. I'm not sure if I'll be able to work on the game on a regular basis everyday anymore but once I do get the time, I work on it with all I've got!

So far, the ninth floor is done, which is the last floor of the game. This leaves only the very "ending-things" left, that is if you don't count the bonus stuff(which I'll deal with once the game's been sent to the testers). In other words, the game's completion is VERY near right now. Please understand that the things happening outside the game's development are what's behind the wait. That and the game's actual content.

I just wanted to tell you that progressing is still being made, piece by piece.
Don't expect to see a set routine of updates etc. though.

A question: Would you like to see a trailer of CO3 up sooner(even though it won't have a set release date)?
Or would it be better to release the trailer once the game's up and ready to be played?
