With over a year of overall progress, Super Mario Eternal Chaos is finally here! This is an episode made by Elbow and Ace, so yes, all of the levels, and a majority of the graphics were made by us. All of the levels have a new creative level theme, graphics, level design, music, and gimmicks. The levels are not grouped up by theme, everything is sort of random, including the boss fights. This is an awesome SMBX episode, fun and satisfaction guaranteed!

The new update is here! It has many new fun features! The game really feels complete and fresh! Check out the changelog!

Changelog:
-Green Stars! There are now 12 hidden green stars put into some levels of the game, they are needed to complete the game.
-Luigi now playable!
-2-Player gameplay has been designed!
-The "GRAND ROOM" has been added to the hub. Must have all the stars to unlock.
-2 new levels! Mine of Gold (Replaced Shivery Subterrne), Swap Sward (Grand final level)
-Added more power-ups to levels that lacked em'
-Added Poison Mushrooms into levels
-Added a %100 game file with every level unlocked, and 99 lives, for the less skilled
-Improved, more sense making story
-Final Castle now has a star
-Moved some levels around in the hub
-Made bland levels less bland
-Made some boss battles easier
-More secrets!
-More easter eggs!
-More dialogue
-More Unique custom graphics, and enemies
-All levels now have checkpoint flags
-Fixed some bugs

Story:
After falling into a mysterious hole, Mario/Luigi finds himself in an old, abandoned, ancient temple, the Temple of Eternal Chaos. He is stuck there for eternity. There are doors all around the temple, inside each door is a different realm.

About:
-Hub, not a lame one, this is probably the coolest and best hub you'll ever see.
-28 Levels
-5 bosses
-40 Power Stars (28 main stars, 12 hidden green stars)
-Yoshi
-New creative level themes/design
-PLENTY of hidden easter eggs and secrets

I suggest not to play this episode in one run, save and play later, it's more fun that way. Please review, comment, report bugs, etc! It really means a lot.

UPDATE released!

The SMEC update is finally released. Please read the changelog for all of the changes and updates! I'm telling you, this update really makes the game feel like a whole new game! Go try it for yourself!

This will probably be the only update for SMEC, there really isn't much more to add... So, I guess as of now, this is where the game stands!

Make sure to go look for the hidden easter eggs, and secrets! There are about 20+ scattered easter eggs in the game. I plan to release where all the easter eggs in the not-so distant future.

Enjoy the game!

I played through the first few levels or so. And I think I can see what that year in development was spent on. The levels are all, graphically and aesthetically, extremely impressive and gorgeous to look at, but the actual meat and potatoes within each level seems to be lacking a bit to me.

All of the levels are a pretty good length for what seems to be a 20 or so level game. But a lot of the content came across to me a bit like filler: there's not a whole lot to some of them save for stretches of land filled with enemies. Although that could be because it was just the earlier worlds.

But if there's one suggestion that I can give that I strongly push, it would be to put more powerups in the levels. Its possible to have a level with few powerups so the player has to struggle a bit, but the levels clearly aren't designed around that! The ratio of enemies to powerups, and level length, don't mesh properly. So only sticking a max of 2 powerups total in a long level with lots of enemies on moving platforms isn't really a good idea. Easily fixed by sprinkling some more in there.

Plus I think there might be a bug with the level doors: I had about 9-ish or so stars but the next level told me a I needed one more to enter. I went and triple-checked all the levels I'd been to previously and I definitely got them all. So go make sure that you did your math right. I really like the potential of this game and think it could be really really good. I may give it another go in the future.

Do you have the SMBX engine installed? If it doesn't come with the game, then you need to do a search for it and download that to play.
