There have been many games that have visited hell, but not many have really gone past "demons are evil, here are some to kill". I felt that it would be interesting to not only make a game where the goal is not to just go around killing demons while in hell, but actually get a real feel for what hell could be like.
The damned are constantly tortured and maimed by demons.
It is either burning hot or icy cold, and the deeper down you go, the
worse it gets. The inhabitants shriek in agony while demons rule as they please.

Basic premise
The protagonists name is Siris. She is a pretty ordinary young girl.
But one day, her soul is stolen and cast into hell.
Now, if she wishes to keep living and evade having to spend eternity in hell,
she must travel the nine circles of hell and bring her soul back.

Siris' Inferno is going to be an adventure/puzzle game.
The game will be using original graphics and music custom-made for this game.
While there will obviously be some religion present, It's not going to focus on the religious aspects of hell at all.
Obviously there will be figures and enviroments FROM religion, but I'm not trying to sell any religion here. I just want to make a awesome game in a interesting setting.

There will be enemies, but no battles.
Often, if you get caught by a enemy, you are dead.
I'm working on pathfinding and other mechanics to make this as exciting as possible, so that for example
you can't just hide behind a wall and the enemy won't be able to catch you.
The idea is that you have to outsmart them, either by trapping them somehow, sneaking past them, or other mechanics.

Characters (WIP)

Siris
A young girl who lost her soul and now unwillingly
have to descend into hell. Inventive and easy-going.

Rehidiel
A bored succubus that helps Siris. The reason? According to Rehidiel she wants to see if a mortal will survive traversing hell. Probably just looking for entertainment.

At the moment, the game is in development.

Update

After a couple weeks of frenzied working on the game, I have finished another release of the game. This one goes down to circle 2, and I'm really excited seeing the reactions on this one, since stuff really starts to happen in this release.
Anyway, have at it, if you will.

Very dark game, Not to say I hate it completely just not my type with demons and hell
I frankly don't care for games that take place in hell. But good idea and all just one question why does a women loose her soul, very strange your character looks like red riding hood...LOL this time it is not an forest its hell, but back to point just think before you do things like this messing with hell and demons can be very dangerous just saying but all and all good job.

Sorry to say this but I've done worse things than make a game with a fantasy setting. If I'm going to hell it's not for this game.
This looks pretty awesome so far.

Aaaand that pretty much cemented my subscription.

This looks interesting. I'd love to see an Inferno-styled game that gets beyond being an atmospheric hack-n-slash.

Wow, this was surprisingly fast.

It's just a demo, not the complete game. Guess I should make that clear.
Made a quick fix for the demo and uploaded it. Nothing major, just a thingie so you don't have to press the action key to change areas.

Edit: Fixed again.

@Kazekage966
Thank you, really.
Right now I'm a bit tired of it, for various reasons. I will probably finish some small project(s?) and continue on it after those.

thats sad... but still
im waiting for it!
Hi, there! This game catched my eye because I'm planning on making a similar one (exploring the nine levels of hell and whatnot), and I wanted to see another developer's approach to the subject. Well, I like it so far. The kind of aesthetics you're aiming for here can get really creepy. I'd like to commend you for your effort putting this together. =)

That being said, I think you can still go a long way 'normalizing' the graphics of the game. For one you have different art styles in there. You have RTP, you have 3d graphics, 2d graphics, cliparts- you get the point. Procuring graphics that clash less with each other can give your game a nice boost of quality... Also, the game is a bit too dark, and sometimes it's difficult to see where you can and cannot walk. So if you could make this a bit more clear, that would be great.

On the gameplay department... You sell this game as an adventure/puzzle game, but I think I only saw one puzzle in there at the very end. I believe you can spice things up from early on the game. For example, in that area where you need to poison the demons, maybe you can mix the mushrooms with different ingredients (Butterfly's dust, spider's web, snail's trail, etc.) to see which combination is the most effective. Because the way it is now is just a simple mini fetch quest.
I was playing the demo and got stuck on the 2nd circle, with the lazor gate and the worms. I thought I should change the switches according to the pitches of their sounds, but that didn't work and now I'm stuck ;^;
That's exactly what you are supposed to do. Maybe you misheard the pitch slightly?
Well, I heard middle-down-middle-middle-up, and I tried it, I tried different things and I even reversed it, but nothing worked. Is there maybe a switch I'm missing or something? Or maybe I misheard it weird or something..
Should indeed be mid-down-mid-mid-up, from left to right. This is what you have?
Yes. Was there like a switch I'm missing?
I don't think so. Guess it's bugged. I'll fix it whenever I make another release...
If it's any consolation, the demo pretty much ends after that puzzle.
Yeah, that's what I thought.. It's a shame, but I'll be waiting patiently for the next update, sir! ^^'
