The wheels of creation have remained in motion for centuries. Human life has prospered, living out their lives fruitfully, free from His gaze. But now, He has turned His eyes to a sinful being who is about to be reborn...

For any other man, life continued as usual. For a man like Elioth, life took a turn for the insane. Member of the renowned Excavators Guild, he returns home one day to find his future wife unconscious. Stricken by a terrible disease called Blood Haze, he sets off with his brother and a dear friend in search of a cure. But does one even exist? Where does one start on this madman's hunt? The answers are not as they seem, the questions they have remain unanswered.

A war they cannot win, but one they will have to wage. Who will emerge victorious?
The forces of Heaven and Hell are on the move...

Chapter 1 released!

Yay, it's finally here! After a bunch of setbacks, the game is in a playable state without any major issues...I hope.
This release contains the entire first chapter of the game and should take about 3-4 hours to complete. You'll need WinRAR to extract the archive, though I assume most of you have that nifty program installed already.

The only real concern I have with the game in its current state is how it feels pretty easy, though that may be because I know everything there is to know. Then again, I don't want the game to be as hard as the original Blood Haze, at least not in the first chapter.
I also made some changes AFTER my playtest, hopefully none of them break the game in any way but if you run into anything major, make sure to let me know! I can still re-upload a new demo if needed, but once I start working on Chapter 2 that's going to be a lot harder.

==============================
PATCH 1.01 NOTES
==============================
-Increased player speed by ±15% (Please let me know if this breaks any events in the game)
-Removed a line of redundant dialog, changed some others and added a dialog box for when Marlene gives you some recovery items at the beginning of the game.
-A dialog box will now be triggered whenever a food effect expires.
-Replaced the Excavators Guild theme with the one from the original.
-Replaced the Nirram Mines theme, which is the theme for Gharos Ruins, with one from the original game.
==============================
PATCH 1.10 NOTES
==============================
-Replaced the lighting system with a newer version to get rid of lag. Includes dynamic shadows! *DUE TO THIS CHANGE, OLD SAVE FILES ARE NO LONGER COMPATIBLE*
-Removed Pathfinding script to reduce lag.
-Fixed some word wrap issues here and there.
-Fixed a softlock issue when completing Melanie's Sidequest.
-Fixed a softlock issue in Brynhildr's Realm.
-Fixed a softlock issue early on in the game if the player approaches the bed diagonally.
-Fixed an issue where pressing "No" when asked to proceed to the boss fight in Brynhildr's realm to cause the game to skip the fight and softlock.
-Fixed the issue with Harvest points not respawning properly if the player has any kind of Food Effect.
-Fixed an issue with the Confusion ailment causing the character to act on its own even after it was cured.
-Fixed an issue with a boulder north of Gharos Village.
-Fixed some spots where it was possible to go out-of-bounds or walk on impassable terrain
-Gharos Ruins is now slightly easier.
-Gharos Forest up to the hotel is now slightly harder.
-The fight against Chelsey is now easier.
-Enemies in the Nirram Mines are now slightly more resilient to damage.
-Increased the difficulty of the fight against Emissary.
-Replaced the reward of the Emissary fight from "Physical Booster" to "Fire Booster"
-Decreased the stats on the Messenger craftable item.
-Changed the behaviour of the Confusion ailment. If you are inflicted with it, you can no longer gain Extra turns with that character. For enemies, they can no longer gain the "Surge" state. (In the demo, confusion when used by the player still causes the old effect. Confusion used by the enemy uses the new effect)
-Reduced Escape success rate to 60% (down from 100%). Hard mode disables escaping entirely.
-Added two new "Gameplay Tip" statues to the game. These explain the different stats (ATK/SPI etc.) and Ailment effects.
-Enemies will no longer do a "walk up" animation when attacking with certain physical attacks.

It's the hardest boss in the game for sure (at least for me it is), even though it doesn't have that many tricks up it's sleeve, the sheer amount of Dekaja/Dekunda it casts along with high crit chance from the aura and high damage can make it really rough.

I usually bring Null Physical and Null Electricity with me in that fight, along with equipping everyone with Life Bringer rings if you have those to take care of the permanent Virus ailment taking away HP. (You can craft them using Asmodeus' essences)
I cast Null Physical on the first turn since Beelzebub always does Focus -> Attack on the first real turn, and also cast it on the 2nd turn since Focus will still be active and he'll do another normal Attack.
He also casts Focus a bit more throughout the fight, Null Physical will come in handy there.

Outside of that, I make sure to keep Null Electricity on me at all times to shut down at least one element he can cast, with the other element being Wind. You could take care of that as well by making Kaleo immune to Wind skills by equipping a GaruGuard armour on him, that will at least reduce the amount of turns Beelzebub gets and make the fight a lot more manageable.
Of course, equipping the Null Wind skill and making someone immune to electricty also works, but Kaleo is already resistant to Wind so it makes it easier.

Rest of the same rules you're accustomed to apply in this fight as well of course, always keep at least 2 stacks of buffs on you and 2 stacks of debuffs on the boss, always heal no matter how little HP you lost (even more important with the Virus effect basically acting as 20% MAXHP reduction) etc.

It should go down eventually, hope it helps.

Also, as for skills you should think about getting at that point if you haven't yet are: Mediarahan, Samarecarm, Heat Riser and Debilitate.

Well, if even you found it hard I don't feel so bad about it .

equipping everyone with Life Bringer rings if you have those to take care of the permanent Virus ailment taking away HP. (You can craft them using Asmodeus' essences)

That was the bit I hadn't thought of; it made such a difference.

Thanks a lot for your help on this. Now onwards and upwards!
Have completed the main game and now have the bonus bit - though I won't have much time to play for several days now. This has been a really satisfying game to play, and has made it to the "keep, because it's worth re-playing" category. Thanks very much for all your hard work. Once I've finished the bonus section, I'll try and find the time to write a review.

EDIT
I got the long cut scene after the credits, and the Blood Haze 2 title screen. I was then taken back to the main menu, which was fine by me because I didn't want to continue playing just at that moment. However, when I open the game I'm back before the fight with Satan. Does this mean that I don't get to the Tower unless I go through all that again? I got all the pendant pieces, so I assumed there was nothing else I needed to do. Did I miss something else?
Someone actually beat the game, yay! I'm gonna say you're the first one. (and hopefully not the last ;p )
Once the tower appears, you can enter it so long as you have the full pendant and showed it to "Bo" at his house. No need to beat the main game to enter the tower.

I also have to admit I didn't properly test it yet on the new damage formula, though it should be fine theoretically speaking...
Well, if something seems really off about the enemies/bosses in there, let me know and I'll tone them down (or up).
Though the amount of power you can get at that point in the game should be enough to beat it regardless, having to grind for hours on end to stand a chance of beating it isn't my intention.

But yeah, good luck in any case ;)

Hadn't realised I was the first!

You say "once the tower appears" - but where does it appear? And who is Bo? sorry to be so dumb on this, but I never noticed it coming up as an option anywhere.
You get a message when you teleport back to the guild. It should be the second map outside of the guild where the tower is. Bo will be in the house by the tower once you find that.
Ah, I thought you found the actual tower already, my bad! :D
What derpvid said, then walk up to the door of the tower and you'll get a scene and it should be smooth sailing from there.

Also there's a tree that's missing a piece/tile in that map but I already fixed that, just in case you come across the poor tree. =(
Yes, what Derpvid said.

....... waiiiiiiiiiiit ............

ಠ_ಠ
Just a couple of things to report.
If you leave the Tower and go into the house where Bo is, when you leave the house the Tower has vanished. You have to leave the map and re-enter to get it back. Though probably the chances of anyone except me wandering over to the house, just in case, is too small to bother with.
More importantly, there is a wall which is supposed to be released by walking in the correct pattern over tiles which crack under you (only way I can think of describing the location of the wall). You can, in fact, walk through that wall as if it's not there.
Think I've only got God to go now, but am doing a last patrol all over the Tower to see which side alleys I've missed, if any.
Forgot to put the correct transfer event in that house, Fixed now.
For some reason the "Through" checkbox was checked on those walls, fixed now.

And well, if you're already near the end then I guess the place wasn't that difficult. Then again, I don't feel like grinding on Normal should be a necessity at any point, so I guess mission accomplished :V
Though God is a whole different balls game compared to anything else in the game, so good luck.

Hmm, looks like I forgot to do certain things for the final boss in the tower, making it:

1. Far easier than it should be.
2. Not as spectacular when you die.

1st point is in regards to the 4 seals, you should get a game over if you shatter one of them which isn't the case at the moment.
2nd one is when you break a seal or the turn count reaches 0, it should play a nice animation where you die in spectacular ways but that isn't happening yet.

Well, I'll fix all of that in patch 1.04 as well then, I guess.
I've played about 5 hours of this game now, and I've really been enjoying it. The game is challenging, but rewarding, and the plot and dialogue is entertaining.

I'm REALLY looking forward to the Chernabog patch, because my last save without finishing that fight is about an hour back.

Also, I do have a couple questions. I'm having a terrible time trying to find Castilla's shack, is there a particular screen I should be looking around? And I was told to go to the Gharos Ruins, but at some point I ended up at the Excavator's Guild and was told to go to Mt. Tyris. Are they the same, is one a sidequest? Did I sequence break?
Gharos Ruins is mentioned, but it's never implied that you actually have to go there. I believe the convo went something like "If we could go straight through Gharos Ruins (like, literally go through it ;p ) we could reach Mt.Tyris a lot faster, unfortunately we have to go there and there." or something like that.

You're still on the right track in any case, It's Excavator's Guild visit, get new party member, then back to where you came from and some more scenes will play.

As for Castilla's Shack, maybe a picture of the map in question will help.

The map above is the 2nd map of the main forest area. Exit Gharos village and you'll be in the first (main) part of the forest, then follow the river eastwards and the area that you go to by doing that is the correct map. The exit marked in red is the area leading to the shack.

Edit: and yes, I think it's time to get that patch out of the door. But work calls me so I can't quite do it right now, maybe when I get back.
Hmm I am stuck with the father note after i picked up the star Fragments and tried to leave it keeps saying i have to investigate the area but I look and spam the spacebar till it popped out and you please help it is in the cave on the very beginning of the chapter where u meet the woman can you please help me like a hint or so cause i can't continue without it. :(

BTW great game it is really challenging and horror this is a really good game and there is no problems with it. Also I will give you 5 stars for it as well good job.

this is a new account so i am new but I am a very good on RPG games but yours is good. :) 5/5
You have to go to the orb on the table and investigate that, Marlene should appear and tell you some stuff. Then you'll be send to the top of the Cathedral again and from there it should be obvious.

More challenges shall await you! Including one of the hardest bosses in the game, hahahahahaha! HAHAHAHA!.

Uh-hum, good luck :V

yea i did that and well i got a bug and can't do the orb thing again and i really hate to do it all over again can u send me a thing for it or do i have to do it all over again with my lvl 70 guys man took me days for it but good game though

but didn't know if it was chapter 3 or 4 i was hunting some fragments but i am screwed though but there is another bug on the ruins as well the boss from chapter one when it said a powerful enemy appeared all of them were blank and i had to fight a lvl 3 with my lvl 70 hmm strange huh.
The last one with the repeating first boss is already fixed (and the fix is in patch 1.04)

As for investigating the orb and it bugging out, that seems odd since I just checked it and well, nothing seems wrong there. If you already investigated the orb then you should be able to go to the top of the cathedral and the portal to the final dungeon should appear.

If all else fails though, you could send me your save file and I'll check it out for you, I can even fix it if I find a problem.

okay i will send it to you but how by email or just message you just saying and also where to locate it at cause i have to go to computer and all programs because it won't do all programs but no trouble there.

but also if u need proof idk how to screenshot on a rpg game though and send it and the data and get it fixed hate to start all over

but i have to get some help on that sorry if i am bothering you
but let me try this one and this bug and this is facing the room not exiting it.

chapter4orb room bug

the data idk how to do it so u can help me with it on how to send it sorry to bother you but it is great my girlfriend is watching me play it at times she really enjoys it though
You can use a site like www.mediafire.com or use the locker on this site to upload files. I don't know how big the space you get with 0 makerscore though, hopefully enough.

And oh, I guess I know what the bug is now lol. Of course you can use teleport stones inside the room while it's "under investigation" so if you do that then...it bugs out! Gotta add something to make that not possible.

Well, the only way I can fix that is with your save file. So use mediafire or the locker on this site and then give me the download link of the save file via a PM on this site.

EDIT: If it's not possible for me to get your save, I could apply a fix to the event to make it work regardless if you're inside the room or somehow got outside it while that event is running.
If so, I'll create patch 1.04 right now. But I prefer adding some more stuff before doing it to be honest ;p
