The wheels of creation have remained in motion for centuries. Human life has prospered, living out their lives fruitfully, free from His gaze. But now, He has turned His eyes to a sinful being who is about to be reborn...

For any other man, life continued as usual. For a man like Elioth, life took a turn for the insane. Member of the renowned Excavators Guild, he returns home one day to find his future wife unconscious. Stricken by a terrible disease called Blood Haze, he sets off with his brother and a dear friend in search of a cure. But does one even exist? Where does one start on this madman's hunt? The answers are not as they seem, the questions they have remain unanswered.

A war they cannot win, but one they will have to wage. Who will emerge victorious?
The forces of Heaven and Hell are on the move...

Chapter 1 released!

Yay, it's finally here! After a bunch of setbacks, the game is in a playable state without any major issues...I hope.
This release contains the entire first chapter of the game and should take about 3-4 hours to complete. You'll need WinRAR to extract the archive, though I assume most of you have that nifty program installed already.

The only real concern I have with the game in its current state is how it feels pretty easy, though that may be because I know everything there is to know. Then again, I don't want the game to be as hard as the original Blood Haze, at least not in the first chapter.
I also made some changes AFTER my playtest, hopefully none of them break the game in any way but if you run into anything major, make sure to let me know! I can still re-upload a new demo if needed, but once I start working on Chapter 2 that's going to be a lot harder.

==============================
PATCH 1.01 NOTES
==============================
-Increased player speed by ±15% (Please let me know if this breaks any events in the game)
-Removed a line of redundant dialog, changed some others and added a dialog box for when Marlene gives you some recovery items at the beginning of the game.
-A dialog box will now be triggered whenever a food effect expires.
-Replaced the Excavators Guild theme with the one from the original.
-Replaced the Nirram Mines theme, which is the theme for Gharos Ruins, with one from the original game.
==============================
PATCH 1.10 NOTES
==============================
-Replaced the lighting system with a newer version to get rid of lag. Includes dynamic shadows! *DUE TO THIS CHANGE, OLD SAVE FILES ARE NO LONGER COMPATIBLE*
-Removed Pathfinding script to reduce lag.
-Fixed some word wrap issues here and there.
-Fixed a softlock issue when completing Melanie's Sidequest.
-Fixed a softlock issue in Brynhildr's Realm.
-Fixed a softlock issue early on in the game if the player approaches the bed diagonally.
-Fixed an issue where pressing "No" when asked to proceed to the boss fight in Brynhildr's realm to cause the game to skip the fight and softlock.
-Fixed the issue with Harvest points not respawning properly if the player has any kind of Food Effect.
-Fixed an issue with the Confusion ailment causing the character to act on its own even after it was cured.
-Fixed an issue with a boulder north of Gharos Village.
-Fixed some spots where it was possible to go out-of-bounds or walk on impassable terrain
-Gharos Ruins is now slightly easier.
-Gharos Forest up to the hotel is now slightly harder.
-The fight against Chelsey is now easier.
-Enemies in the Nirram Mines are now slightly more resilient to damage.
-Increased the difficulty of the fight against Emissary.
-Replaced the reward of the Emissary fight from "Physical Booster" to "Fire Booster"
-Decreased the stats on the Messenger craftable item.
-Changed the behaviour of the Confusion ailment. If you are inflicted with it, you can no longer gain Extra turns with that character. For enemies, they can no longer gain the "Surge" state. (In the demo, confusion when used by the player still causes the old effect. Confusion used by the enemy uses the new effect)
-Reduced Escape success rate to 60% (down from 100%). Hard mode disables escaping entirely.
-Added two new "Gameplay Tip" statues to the game. These explain the different stats (ATK/SPI etc.) and Ailment effects.
-Enemies will no longer do a "walk up" animation when attacking with certain physical attacks.

Hi everyone...
I have a question about Castilla fragments. I've got the Bosco card BEFORE I met Maria, so I had no quest to complete with her. When I found her the cutscene that's meant to happen at the end of a quest begins so I fear I will never collect all the fragments. Anyway I found one scattered in the forest that's not in the list...
The question is: are there alternative locations for grinders like me? XD
Well, there are 2 scattered throughout the forest areas and 3 if you count the one that's dropped on the ground after you complete Maria's quest.
Talking about that, you should still be able to complete the whole quest and get the fragment, you'll just be skipping the first part of it, you just need to go to the arena now after she "joins" you and activate the card.
Though I've fixed it so the Bosco card doesn't appear until you accept the quest, don't know when(if) I'll actually release this patch though. Too busy working on the new project :V

As for grinding spots...you don't have access to every single area yet like the Tower of God but I'll mention it anyways:

Money grind: Arena - Golem's Revenge. You get a lot of money per fight + they drop lots of Build-Up items (mainly crit ones) that you can sell for some cash. (total of about 100K per fight)

JP Grind: Tower of God 1F, in the small extra area there's a troop with 8 enemies that are all lined up and are weak to physicals. The only thing they do is cast Null Physical and Mediarahan so you can easily kill them for about 1K JP and the EXP and money they drop, then teleport back to the guild and do it again.

EXP grind: Tower of God or the final optional fight in the arena are both pretty good. But generally levels don't matter nearly as much as having access to all skills and good equipment. ;)

And remember if you're grinding to turn off the attack animations so battles are a lot quicker :D

LoL

Thanks a lot for the quick answer. I've tried the Bosco Card, but at lev40, even if I have all the -yne magic and debilitate/heat riser I've been beaten as a noob by Bosco. His debuffing attack, that looks a lot like a physical one, has gone through the null physical skill. Is it intended to be that way?
Probably I'd better come back later, after some more grinding (I have +4 mythril equipment), because I have no chance ATM.

Thanks again!!!
Yes, all of Bosco's attacks are actually "Almighty" so they go through everything.

He's pretty mean, since he can just dispell your buffs and he gets a permanent power boost every 2 turns that stacks so you also have to be quick.
Just come back later I would say ;)
Well, I found my way through bosco and Asmodeus, level 52 now and going to the final battle of this chapter. Well, it's "an hell" of a challenge!!!!
Yup, 2nd hardest boss I would say (not counting the Post-Game) bosses.
It becomes a lot easier once you figure out the elemental weakness pattern. I believe I actually posted it at like page 3-4 if you really want to know. Though a piece of paper will do the same thing ;p
Great game, i love and loath the hotel and deamon girl so much.
I haven't seen if anyone posted it before, but I found a "minor" bug:
If you get paralyzed and the affected party member is the last one standing you have to shut down the game, because you can't do nothing but you don't even skip turn: you keep bashing space bar until you realize you can't do it forever and shut down.
Nothing really serious, but it's a little boring closing game and reloading (expecially when a boss after a cutscene can bind you and you have to watch it again LoL )

Anyway, as I'm in chapter 4 I can say that I'm having a lot of fun. This game has only some weak point, at least to me they look so. The first one is the steep difficulty curve you built between regular monsters and bosses (example: I breezed through the 6 in a row fight at the beginning of chapter 4 but the boss is outclassing me, even because its end-all skill is unfair. It doesn't hit me for 10 turns with null ailments and then it kills me without a way out!!). The second one is a little weakness in dialogues, sometimes a little too "I-have-to-say all-in-3-windows-and-no-matter-what-I-will-say-catchy-sentences"ish.

One questions, anyway to end this post:
The secret arena boss: I have maxed my arena level, but have I to defeat every monster to unlock him/her/it? I skipped two foes and killed 15 Jack in a row (too easy with the right pattern)

You can skip a turn using the side-menu, access it with the "R" button I believe, which is tied to the W key on your keyboard by default.
At least, I think it is. You can always double check the keybindings in the F1 menu XD
I mention it in the tutorial at the beginning but since this situation rarely happens, you probably forgot about it.

Yup, that fight is just a DPS race with a hidden timer. I believe it's 15 turns and then it does it's ender move.
Debuff and Buff to 4 stacks then just nuke it down, if you can do enough damage it should go down at the 12th or 13th turn ;)

Working on that, slowly but surely :V

"The Golden Witch" appears on the list at Rank 7, Rank 8 just gives you access to the last tier of buyable items.
Please help me! I'm currently 50 lvl and can't beat:
-Marlene
-On battle arena I can fight only Spirits from higher tier enemies

Is there any good JP spot somewhere (every battle gives 200-500...)? I believe I won't go further until I learn passive nullification skills...
I'm playing on NORMAL mode so above listed monsters deal around 250-350 damage with their multi spells, which kills my party in 1-2 turns...
That's a trick for the arena

Jack Sparrow: vanity - maragidyne - null fire - maragilao - bonus: vanity - bonus: maragidyne, in 3 turns they fall down... easy enough to get 20 levels in 1 hour and probably 800 ABS LoL

I'm level 75 now but the golden witch is a good enemy so far, the hellish fly has been easy as soon as I've found the pattern to nullify its turns.
7th circle cleared, but now I'm out for the arena fragment... funny, really funny!

I've tried that strategy. First of all its Null Ice, not fire :), well and they don't fall within three turns... Vanity doesn't always silence them and they seem to like cast that 2nd nonelemental spell, which kills my party in one turn...

EDIT:
Okay, I changed my strategy a bit. Now I'm beating those Jacks!

Well, If you have Vanity on the first PG it's easy because you have 2 extra turns. I cast vanity twice/turn EVERY turn, and it's quite enough to silence quite everyone. The null ice blocks their turn very fast, so I have to say that I killed 32 Jacks without losing a single HP
Yep, thats what I changed :). Now for another question. I have beaten Marlene, and now am in chapter 4, but I missed Asmodeus. Where I can find him?
He's in the Mansion in Despair, located in a different part of "Gharos Forest South-East".

Go back to the Excavator's Guild HQ and use the portal inside that teleports you to Kul'An ruins B8, go through the big stone door in the north and make your way up and through the portal at the end.
This portal takes you to the South-East part of Gharos Forest. From here, you can go west to Maria's Shack for the sidequest involving Bosco, north to Cathedral Ursum and East to the 2nd part of the forest.

The 2nd part is where you'll need to go, this part of the forest leads you to the Mansion of Despair.
It's an area without any enemies except for the boss at the end and is focused on collecting key items and shifting between 2 different dimensions to get to the end.

Needless to say, if you need a guide I posted one on Page 8 of the comments near the bottom, that should help you get through it if you're stuck ;)
Good luck!
Yeah, found it... Now I'll go to hell!:D
Another help needed... Beatrice! What should I do? She beats me hardly. Is there any strategy against her?

EDIT:
Whoa, finally killed that woman! It was epic battle, though... Now I am all ready for that God Tower!

So help me with the strategy against Beatrice :D
I'm still stuck in defining a good fight plan!!!
Here's some explanation about her moves and some tips:

Beatrice Special Moves:
-Red Truth: Puts a debuff on you that reduces all healing done by 50%.

-Curse of the Witch: Puts a debuff on one party member that decreases their damage/healing by 90+%

-Golden Ballad: Inflicts Silence to all.

-Stake of Purgatory: Decreases one member's HP to 1%, but they become immune to all damage for the remainder of the turn.

-Blast Away!: Only used when both shoulder towers are up, she instantly uses this once she summons them so make sure to guard once she's at 50% HP. If she has 4 stacks of Tarunda on her though it shouldn't kill even if you don't guard and it takes up all of her turns so she can't do much afterwards.

Basically, 2-3 people to heal is almost mandatory for this fight, since the combination of Red Truth and Curse of the Witch can really mess you up. Ailment immunity or close to it is a given (Elioth with immunity and Me Patra works too, since then you can just use Me Patra to cure the ailments of everyone else in the party.)
The towers are mainly there to dispel buffs and debuffs, their attacks are Physical and Electricity so you can put up either shield each turn to take away turns.
The towers also have a weakness, namely Wind and Earth ;)

Outside of that, general rules of making sure to have 2+ stacks of buffs/debuffs and dispelling buffs/debuffs regularly apply.
Good luck.
Well, my strategy Was:
- Null Fire/Earth for all characters (at least one Nullify) - passive so you won't lose turn, and another reason for it is explained in third point. She uses these elements most of the time, and casting it on immune char, makes her lose one turn (Yay!)
- Almost always Medidurahan spell (but when she put you into that lowering heal status - use Beads Chain item.
- From 4 turn ALWAYS cast Nullify Ailments spell - thats why it is important to not cast other Nullify Spell - these don't stack. In critical situation use Me Patras (spell or gem)
- Cyrielle should always use same strategy: Mind Force+Last Almighty Spell next turn (2000-3000 damage to Beatrice)
-Dekaja and Rakija spells - always when you have debuff and enemy has buff!

That way, if She cast Vanity spell or elemental spell, it's lose of turn, and when she summons towers - it's even better, beacuse most of their attacks are status changes. Well that way, if you have some items in your bag, she sahould be dead in few minutes :)

EDIT:
I forgot... She won't be dead :D
