Announcement

We are the completeness!

After weeks of trials, tribulations, and other assorted toils, we have ourselves a download! Okay, well, it's not officially accepted yet. Or, wait, maybe it is? Whatever. In any event, we're both fairly proud of this accomplishment, and we hope you enjoy our humble offering. I'm not sure if we're going to win anything, but there is one thing I am certain of, if you allow the indulgence:

This game is

COMPLETE!

Progress Report

One week left!

I'm going to approximate our completion rate for this game at about 99.999% complete. What do we still need? Well, it's story-related, so I won't speak of them openly.

There's been a few ideas of extra fluff bouncing around. Such as in-game credits, something I've never cared for with RM games. A pop-up window when players enter certain rooms. Perhaps some more books in the Study provided by the Department of Backstory, or other sheer flavor text. BuriningTyger wanted to do something with the Moon Garden. I suppose we'll have to decide what we can do after the main stuff is done. Which, while that shouldn't take too long (I hope), still needs to be done.

Progress Report

Anybody home?

It has occurred to me that there is but a fortnight left until the we see the end of the All Hallows Eve event. It has also occurred to me that the amount of public talk that myself and BurningTyger have done on this game has been relatively low. It has also occurred to me there might be a few questions about how far along we are, and what we still have to do. It's high-time for some news, I think!

Of the six rooms that we've planned, five have been mapped. There was talk of a seventh room, but nothing definitive was decided. As for the last map that we know is going to be in the game, I'll be taking a crack at it at some point today.

The number of non-RTP resources the game uses is particularly of interest to me. I think we can distribute this game without including 2K3's RTP! We'll have to test that out at some point. Saying that, I believe we can afford to cut what resources that we brought to this game which are still unused. The ZIP file that we have right now is around 21MB (that's without the RTP), but it's my personal preference to streamline things.

This might sound all well and good, but we're still talking about what the end-game looks like. We have a plan of how players get to the end-game, just not what, exactly, happens at the end-game. We've a fortnight left, so I'm hoping we can clamp down on this, get some test-plays in, and get this out.

Miscellaneous

Teamwork! Sort of?

This has been an interesting development experience for me. It is, perhaps, the first time I've worked closely with someone on a game since it's inception. Okay, well, I have had experience working with someone on a game. I'm talking about the now-defunct Stonesearch. When I got involved with that, the game was partially done. It was, in my mind, clearly Adon237's game. And I? I was little more than a voice that made suggestions. It is sad that the game has been cancelled, but I've been told that I will have some amount of say in Home Sweet Home.

Then, there's this game. As far as I'm concerned, it's as much mine as it is BurningTyger's. So, it is difficult, at least for me, to allow my ideas to be totally ignored like they may have been in Stonesearch. I get the impression that BurningTyger feels the same way. There have been a few things we have agreed upon, and that is always a good thing. For the things that we are arguing about, I would think we would need to take a step back, and try to consider the benefits and complications involved in what either idea involves.

I would like to take this opportunity, though, to say that BurningTyger is definitely bringing forth what resources he has to bear with this game. I can do no less. I would not dare to claim that we shall make such a game that it will win anything, but it should have some interesting stuff.
