After weeks of trials, tribulations, and other assorted toils, we have ourselves a download! Okay, well, it's not officially accepted yet. Or, wait, maybe it is? Whatever. In any event, we're both fairly proud of this accomplishment, and we hope you enjoy our humble offering. I'm not sure if we're going to win anything, but there is one thing I am certain of, if you allow the indulgence:

This game is

COMPLETE!

- I like what you did with the map names, and how they pop on the screen.

- When I got the key to the study, it would be nice to play a small sound effect, or something to indicate me picking it up.

- Wouldn't the sound effects creep the main character out?

- All those red pixals x.x

- "Is Val alle" I think there's a cutoff there.

- Why can't I re-read the book that gave me the key?

- The portrait doesn't have sparkles, while the safe does. That's confusing and inconsistent.
I almost got lost in such a small part of the castle :\

- Music's nice.

- The garden would look better if it was smaller in size; the whole room.

- Is it possible to have a dim background when the main character is talking to himself? That would
look better.

The story was pretty good, but it needs to be longer- game wise. I'm not asking for a craze game that will make me tired of it in the end, but a game that could invest me into the characters a little bit more.

Is it terrible of me that I just recently realized that "C&C" means "comments and criticisms"? Probably!

I wasn't even thinking about doing sounds effects for picking stuff up. I don't think either of us thought of it, but I could be mistaken.

We were pretty good with text cut-offs, but thanks for pointing that one out!

Do you really want to re-read a book that is indecipherable to begin with? On one hand, I see where you're coming from, but that's probably what I was thinking with that particular event.

I'm pretty sure we talked about what should sparkle, and what shouldn't at some point. The portraits don't give out items, or anything, so they weren't a consideration at the time. I understand where you're coming from, though.

Any particular music that stands out, or is it just a general "it's nice" thingyshamadoo?

BurningTyger had plans for the Moon Garden, but they never came to fruition. If we ever get back to this, my guess is that whatever plans he had would be implemented.

As far as I saw, 2K3 did not have a "Dim background" option. Trust me, I looked. I don't know if it's possible to change the window-set mid-game, but if it is, I think that we could make a virtual "Dim background" by altering the alpha channel of our current windowset. If we come back to this game, we can look into this more.

As for you out-of-hide-tag note, BurningTyger did want to put more stuff into the game. I said "no" on the basis that we had no download (Pretty damn important, if you ask me!), we were pretty much done in my mind to being with, and there was only two or three days left. Though, I must add that this exchange happened before Sandy hit, without any knowledge that there would be an extension. Though, if we got our act together, there might have been more work done? I dunno. It's hard to say.

One more thing I wish to add. There's nothing inherently wrong with a short game. It just has to be paced in such a way that it doesn't feel short. Though, I'm taking your last comment to mean that it was incorrectly paced. Which is a valid observation. We both thought this seemed a tad on the short side. However, we knew everything there was to know about the game. Developer knowledge versus player knowledge, you know?

I had a good idea simply because I read all the info. But if I didnt, it might have been a bit confusing. Not sure what Clareain thinks. But based off my reading I knew what was going on.

@bigtime: Readers of The Legend of the Dark Lady might also figure things out pretty nicely...
